Shelves: culture-politics
Hartcher writes well, and considering the subject matter, from an extremely unbiased stance. The essay is effectively a deconstruction of the Australian national psyche, an examination of the reason certain political leaders (and their ideologies) are both reviled and admired in equal measure. Whilst it is incisive, it betrays its journalistic origins; there is nothing especially profound in here, relying on previously established viewpoints from other intellectuals, journalists and public ...more
