With the first book’s focus on Jane’s novel within the novel Constance, and the second book based around Constance becoming a movie, Jane Vows Vengeance takes a decidedly different turn. This time around, the focus is not on Jane’s career, but on her personal life, both with fiance Walter and her existence as a vampire. Due to a pact with Walter’s mother Miriam, Jane has promised to tell Walter she is a vampire AND conceive a child with...more

I think this series, which follows vampire Jane Austen in our present day, peaked with the first book. Listen up, authors: I know this is how you get paid, but not every book has to be part of a series. By the end of this particular series, I was pretty convinced that Jane was somewhat dim, and completely puzzled as to how she, Byron, and this novel's villain, who I will not name, managed to live out a normal human lifespan, much less a couple of centuries besides. While I will admit th...more

In this book, Jane Austen is back and trying to figure out wedding details. However, the wedding takes flight (literally) somewhere else. With many new turns and complications in the mix, Jane Austen also discovers that there may be a way to turn her human. The historical detail (St. Apollonia) was fascinating, but I felt like there were still many things that Ford had skimmed over. There are still many unanswered questions in my mind.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in the series (Jane...more

Jane Austen is getting married. Maybe. First, she has to solve a murder Agatha Christie style. Then she has to find a missing artifact that could restore her soul and tell her fiance that she's a vampire. Oh yeah, she also has to deal with her mother-in-law being a vampire hunter and Charlotte Bronte being her nemesis.

Now, Jane Austen as a vampire got me interested and the blurb did a wonderful job selling the quirky humor and cozy vampire theme. Then I saw that it was the third book in the seri...more

This appears to be the finale in the Jane Austen, vampire series (however the epilogue could leave room for sequels). Jane and her love Walter are engaged. Walter still does not know that Jane is a vampire, while his Mother, a vampire hunter knows Jane's secret. They all travel to Europe on a tour to visit architectural marvels. Walter and Jane decide to get married in England while on the trip. However, nothing ever goes smoothly and Jane's former vampire husband pops up like the lawyer in Jane...more

I had not ever heard of this series before, and although I hate not starting at the beginning of a series, I didn't feel lost and the book seemed easy to follow.

I love Jane Austen, and when I saw the description for this book on Netgalley--Jane Austen as a vampire--I was very interested. The writing sucked me right in and this was just a quick, fun read. The characters traveled all over Europe on an architectural tour, which would make you think that the setting would play a big role in the stor...more

FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY

This review is based on a copy of the book which I received free from the Publisher through the Goodreads First Reads program.

Jane just can’t get a break. What’s a young girl, at least she looks young; although she is 200 years old, when her mother in law turned out to be a vampire hunter. At least she had dealt with that awkward moment with a promise that was time based; and time was running out. Jane had promised to produce a child within one year and that was coming up fast.

When I entered to win this giveaway on Goodreads I was really intrigued by both the plot summary given and the cover art. What I didn't realize was that this is the third book in a trilogy...whoops. But I read it anyway and it was fantastic!...

I was drawn in right away by both the author's voice and the plot. Jane is a really unique character, modern but also a touch of old fashioned - obviously since she is the Jane Austen! My favorite character was, strangely enough, Lilith - the little dog. S...more

I liked this book. I don't usually read any of the Vampire Hunter books, but this one wasn't that horrific. The author made mention of other English authors, such as Lord Byron, Agatha Christie, Shelley, and of course Charlotte Bronte. There was some mentioning of Mark Twain even. I am not going to give too much of the plot away. Jane Austen has somehow turned into a vampire, I will not say who turned her. She is also engaged to be married to a person who is not what he seems, at the end of the...more

Jane Vows Vengeance continues the story of our beloved vampire, Jane Austen, from the previous books, Jane Bites Back and Jane Goes Batty by Ford. Our protagonist is now engaged to Walter, still unbeknownst of her undead condition, and is struggling with wedding plans and debating revealing her secret. The engagement timeline is unexpectedly moved...more

I won this book through Goodread’s Free Reads giveaway, thank you.

I believe this is the third book in a series of books about Jane Fairfax, aka Jane Austen, a vampire. I didn’t read the first two books, so I won’t be comparing this to the others.

This book was a pleasure to read. It had me laughing out loud numerous times throughout the story. Well written and fast-paced, it has plots within plots as Jane, her fiancé Walter, Walter’s mother Miriam a vampire hunter and friends make their way acros...more

Of all the Austen-inspired variations, making Jane Austen a vampire is definitely one of the more interesting and funny takes on this genre. In book one, Jane Bites Back, she struggled with getting a book published, something you’d think Jane Austen wouldn’t have trouble with! Book two, Jane Goes Batty, finds Jane struggling with love, life, and vampire hunters. Throw into this mix evil Charlotte Brontë, overly flirtatious Lord Byron, and a whole slew of other eccentric characters, and it’s no w...more

In the final novel in the Jane Austen Vampire trilogy (or is it???) we find our favorite two hundred year old undead authoress challenged by her condition, her past, and the future she is trying to make in Brakeston, New York with fiancé Walter Fletcher. After thoroughly enjoying the first two novels in the series, JANE BITES BACK and JANE GOES BATTY, we are all anticipation of how vampire Jane’s satiric, quirky and totally hilarious life in the twenty-first century will wrap up—or live on into...more

Jane Vows Vengeance is the third book in this series by Michael Thomas Ford. Jane Fairfax (a.k.a. Jane Austen) is a bookseller and a best-selling author. She is engaged to Walter Fletcher, an architect, and continuing to deal with his mother, a dedicated vampire hunter, Miriam. To make matters worse, Jane's been given an ultimatum by her soon-to-be mother-in-law, tell Walter the truth about her vampirism AND get pregnant. Jane isn't even sure the latter is possible, but since she loves Walter, s...more

When I started reading this book I did not realize it was a part of a series and of course now I have to read the first two! The main plot is Jane Austen is still living or not so much living but existing as a vampire in modern times. There are also many other literary phenoms who accompany Ms. Austen in this journey! The heartbreaking part is that Ms. Austens archenemy is Charlotte Bronte! I am not sure where and why this rivalry exists and it is definitely driving me to read the rest!

I liked this third book in the series. The premise is that Jane Austen was turned into a vampire by Lord Byron years ago. Now she owns a bookstore in New York state and has a new book out. She is set to marry her boyfriend Walter, who doesn't know she's a vampire. Complicating things is his mother, a vampire hunter. During a trip to Europe with a group of architects (Walter is one), Jane searches for Crispin's Needle, a legend that says the needle will turn a vampire human again.

I think coming in on the third book kind of dampened my enjoyment . I didin't have time to warm up to the characters properly. I did enjoy the book but maybe not as much as my husband or I thought I might based on my other choices. Perhaps if I can find the other books and read from the beginning. I don't know if I totally buy the characterization of Jane. Some of her actions seemed a little skewed considering she was born and raised in a different world. Perhaps her innate character and the pas...more

This is my very favorite of the three volumes of Jane-the-vampire-and bookseller. Ford's dialogue is so funny and his Jane is wonderfully
sarcastic, as you would expect. Her ongoing feud with "Our Gloomy Friend" aka Charlotte Bronte is just perfect, as are her comments on Mark Twain. One of my favorite moments is when asked if she could stand a certain movie, she remarks that she endured Greer Garson as Elizabeth Bennet! I believe the author left room for another volume in this series, and I cer...more

I almost gave this a three since I feel that Jane not telling Walter about her being a vampire was too drawn out. However, Byron actually became likable, Jane managed to keep avoiding being SuperAuthor, and Lucy stayed amazing. Also, the issue of staying a vampire or becoming human and it's resolution was explained at the end in a way that made sense and made me like the characters even more.
Jeanne
Jane Fairfax (Austen) is back and now in the midst of planning her wedding to Walter. But she still has not told him that she is one of the undead. What’s a vampire bride-to-be to do?

Meanwhile, Jane and Walter are also planning a trip to Europe, which will feature several architectural tours. The trip also includes Walter’s mother, Miriam. Miriam the vampire hunter.

The European holiday, wedding vows, and usual vampire hijinks make for a most unusual set of circumstances for Jane and her fiancé....more

Though I've jumped in to the middle of this series it has grabbed me none the less. While I don't really go for bastardizing Jane Austen, it is far enough removed that one can forgive the liberties taken. I thought it was a great story with enough twists to keep you intrigued. Definitely of the chick-lit genre but a really good read. This is an author I would like to read more from.

This is the third book in this series. The main character is Jane Fairfax AKA Jane Austen. She is a vampire who was created by Lord Byron. This series is totally different from other vampire stories as there is no blood and gore or any of the other paranormal horrors associated with other books. It is a light read with several delightful supporting characters.

Story was pleasantly good. I like the intertwining of Jane & Walter's possible wedding, trip, and the Crispin's Needle mystery. Personally I really enjoyed their trip and wished that I was tagging along. There was the one surprise that, I should have guessed, but didn't see!! Good job Mr. Ford. Overall, good book for a weekend read.
Jane
I really thought I was over the Jane Austen/zombie/seamonster mash but this book was delightful. It's the third (I think) in the series and I will definitely seek out the other two. A good mystery, the characters are funny and endearing. I especially loved Lilith, the mother-in-law's dog and Jane's interaction. Good fun

I would give this more of a 3.5 star rating as long as you know it's a quirky book and more of a lighthearted read. I read this book even though it has two books that precede it. Had heard that it can be a stand alone book which is true I just had a couple details I didn't pay attention to that I had to go back and check on before continuing. Thought the concept of Jane Austen as a vampire sounded fun and it held my attention!
Susan
A delightful continuation to the series. Will Jane confess she's a vampire to her fiance or will his mother, the vampire hunter, out her first? Or just kill her? Does Crispin's Needle exist or is it just a vampire urban legend?

I enjoyed this as much as the previous two books. Here's hoping the series continues on.
Christina Beggs
I thoroughly enjoyed the first, the second was enjoyable but not as much and this one sorta bugged me. While it was equally clever and witty as the first, I did not care for the premise or the ending. In fact, after finishing it I sat there wondering what else there was.
Glenda
I really liked this series. It is a fun, quick read. I liked the references to other literary authors, like Bronte and Tolkien, Agatha Christie and Lord Byron. The plot kept me interested and kept me from wanting to do anything but sit and read more.
Chelsea
This is a fun, silly series. I mainly read it for the clever digs at the Bronte family and their fans. Not that I don't enjoy a Bronte novel every now and then, I just find the mockery amusing. The characters in the series are funny, and the mystery is enjoyable.
