Chick Lit at its worst. Contrived plot. Cardboard characters. The premise of a women's writing group choosing to focus on porn writing was intriguing, but this premise was quickly dropped in favor of the "women of different backgrounds come together in sisterhood" routine that is so old-hat. At one point, all the women characters show up at the hospital to support the nearly divorced woman in the delivery room. They refer to the baby as "our" baby and vow to support the woman and help raise the ...more

Overall this is a very disappointing book. The storyline is very boring and the 'erotica' feels very secondary. I don't recommend this.

The Tuesday Erotica Club was a bit of an accident - I was at the library and it actually fell off the shelf to my feet. I glanced at it as I picked it up and thought, Why not? As it turns out, this was a book that was fun to read.

Several women who work at the same law firm have a book club, meeting on their lunch hour on in the firm's conference room. It bumbles along, eventually becoming a writers group - and not just any writers group, but one specifically to read each other's erotic writing.

No gracias.

I sort of feel like I should give this 5 stars, but it's so far outside my usual genre, I can't be sure. It's one of those "women of different social status with very different lives brought together in a potentially adversarial but ultimately bonding experience, becoming great friends and conquering their various life difficulties" books.

But these four women, ranging in age from 23 to 50, from a secretary to a former debutante, one pregnant but getting divorced... meet during a writers group on

While the title of this book caught my attention, I am so glad that I took the time out to read to the end. It is so much deeper than what the title suggest. It's about women, friendship, marriage, family, work relationships, etc. I am happy to see that Aimmee, Margot, Lux and Brooke bonded over their desire to write and later as support for each other. I am looking forward to adding Lisa Beth Kovetz to the list of my favorite authors.

Don't be fooled by the title, this book isn't nearly as erotic as you may think from its synopsis. I enjoyed it enough to keep reading it. It's a story of four women whose paths cross because they work in the same office and they all braved through joining a writing club whose topic turned to erotica. How the lives are intertwined are humorous at times and heartbreaking at others. I found myself EXTREMELY annoyed with Lux, and that may have been the direction that Kovetz wanted to take that char ...more

A story of 4 women who start a writers club and how different their individual lives are. A nice ,mild tale of friendship and sisterhood. Not very erotic but interesting.

Well, with a title like that it's fair to assume that it is NOT actually erotica and it wasn't. The character development was very good although I think the author lost it towards the end. Too busy getting that bow tied.
This was a fun read anout four different ladies realizing some truths about their lives. Often funny and surprising. I would recommend it for the beach.

Berasa kaya Sex and the City versi novel, 4 wanita berbeda karakter bertemu tiap selasa gitu deh...

Boring di bagian tengah, tapi endingnya not badlah...

This book was a nice, relaxing sort of read, like having a drink after a long day. I didn't get too emotionally involved with the characters, but I did find myself interested in them. Lots of sex, some humor, some sadness. I did find the ending to come abruptly, but then I realized there wasn't a lot of resolution necessary because the plot didn't arch that way. Overall, a decent read.
Here as a ring.
It took me a bit of time to get into it, which I find is often the case with books which do a sort of collage of the characters (this is the second or third of this type I've read - Dirty Girls Social Club, for example). For me it became especially interesting when Lux meets Bill, maybe because I felt that in a quirky way they were the least conventional characters.

This book was pretty funny. The premise is that rather than start a book club, a writers club was started at a law firm. People from all walks joined (from a partner to a young women from the secretary pool) and of course they decide to write erotica. Completely unbelievable, but at times laugh out loud funny! It's a good read for a day at the beach.

I didn't find the book that humorous, overall. Maybe because the storyline of Aimee's pregnancy was too 'heavy' in comparison to the farcical situations of the other characters.
I wish there was more narrative tension between the women's fictional alters and their 'real' life situations, such as the one between 'Atlanta Jane' and her creator, Margot.

This would actually be 2/15 stars I think. I read this book as my romance choice for my class. I went to the used book store and tried to pick the most modern looking book on the romance shelves (not the Fabio covers). It was cute, but I was not particularly attached to any of the characters. A quick, trashy read, like the title promises!

So far I'm not really getting into it..I'm about 1/3 through it, but I'll give it a little more time...we'll see.
And we're back...I gave it a shot, got about half way through and decided I couldn't get into it. One of the characters was really annoying in her dialog and like i said, just couldn't get into it. It had such potential too.

Decent premise, excruciatingly poor execution. The bad writing made me wonder if I was missing something. Did irony come back dressed as stiff, wooden description and negligible characterization?

Friends, stay away from this book.

I read this book on faith-lent to me by my book group friend. I really enjoyed the characters and the development of their friendship. This book was not what I thought! Much better! I also enjoyed the 'writing clubs' stories....

Not what I expected, too much of jumping here and there, sometimes it looked like several different books are in one but what usually is not problem here it was distracting.

This story was ok but I just thought it dragged but it surely could have been shorter. It wasn't horrible but I'm glad I checked it out of the library instead of buying it.

Got to page 36 or so of this book and gave up. Usually I like to give books a decent chance, but the characters in this book were so horrible I really couldn't be bothered.
