I enjoyed the different elements going on in this story. Not only was it a story about David Campbell and Isabelle Tynsdale, but it had a small side story for one of David's sisters and her lady in waiting. There was also a small side story about a plot to take out the Bishop involving a man who plays a role in something that happens to Lady Cait Campbell and her lady in waiting. There's also the plot of taking Lady Tynsdale land and castle.

I really loved the break up of the story with everythin

This book has been sitting on my bookshelf for so long. I had no idea what I was missing out on until I picked it out of my teetering shelf and opened it. There was a surprise waiting for me inside.

Before this, Amanda Forester was a new –to-me author and as a highlander romance fan, I knew I had to try her books out. Within the first ten pages, I knew this book was different. There was historical accuracy. There were great characters. And there was a handful of charm th

Wow. Just wow.

After reading the first book in the series, I was reluctant to give this one a try. Not that I didn't like the first book, but it didn't push me to read more of the series.
When I saw this was about Campbell, I got curious. He makes a small apearence in the first book, and the blurb seemed attractive enough to give it a try.

The Highlander's Heart was a full house for me.

The perfect romance for those looking for a sweet romance, a good laugh and wonderful sub-plots thrown in. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and am curious to read more from Amanda Forester. I love romances that can toss in some humor that makes me laugh but doesn't come across as too campy. The romance is sweet and you can definitely feel the chemistry between David and Isabelle but don't hold your breathe if you are one of those romance fans who like the long, detailed sex scenes. I reviewed this book for Romance Reader At heart website.

This author is new to me, and to make things even more interesting, this is the second book in the series. THE HIGHLANDER'S SWORD was the first one (and tops off my ever growing TBR shelf). I'm one of those readers that HAVE to read the series in order, but this author has done an excellent job, so I truly wasn't aware of the fact that this was the second book in the series.

After reading the author's first book and finding it a really refreshing change from the norm, I was excited to read this book. I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as the first, but it was still a sweet, relaxing read.

The story is very sweet, and nothing really objectionable happens. There are no cringe-worthy moments or traumas. Even the ever-present highlander kidnapping turns out to be a good thing for all involved. The leads were slightly bland for my liking but there were actual

An English Lady with sass, an unlikely Highland protector, and plenty of good humor make up this delightfully entertaining historical romance.

After the death of her uncle, English Lady Isabelle Tynsdale is on the run from her cruel husband. Isabelle knows that her husband will kill her if he finds her, just to claim her inheritance, her Uncle’s estate. While on the run from her husband’s men, Isabelle gets lost by herself. She winds up all alone and disheveled and the only help around is a brute

Amanda Forester continues her tale of courageous Highlanders in the majestic beauty of Scotland with The Highlander’s Heart.

After the death of her guardian and uncle, Lady Isabelle Tynsdale sets off on a journey to the King to request his help in dissolving her marriage to the vile Lord Tynsdale, who will surely murder Isabel to inherit her uncle’s lands. On the border of Scotland however, her guard runs into that of her husband’s and Isabelle runs for her life. Lost and disheveled, wondering a

I’ll start by saying I really enjoyed the writing and characters. Isabelle was very likable, although a bit impulsive. David was your typical brooding hero, but can’t help to rescue the damsel in distress, repeatedly. I liked the plot and to be honest still want to read and find out what will happen next, it was a lot of fun. I only made it about 25% though and decided I should probably just stop. And here’s why:

Normally a cover like this would scare me off. But, not only was this recommended as

The Highlander’s Heart combines intrigue, suspense, and pulse-pounding romance. From start to finish, the book takes the reader on an unforgettable journey with characters that come to life on the page. Amanda Forester has penned a novel that historical romance fans will thoroughly enjoy, with multiple twists and turns that will keep readers on their toes.

The heroine, Isabelle, is the perfect balance of strong and vulnerable. Knowing
Nice story. It was cute how Isabelle was always up to some kinda mischief. I love dhow David was always having to rescue her. Every time she's get away he'd be right there to catch her again. Story was longer than a normal romance book. Since I have not read book 1 or 3 yet, I look forward to finishing this set. There was very little romance and what was there was bland. The author did not go into any details. So if you are looking for a juicy read, this isn't it. If you want a good story with j ...more
Had some interesting moments, with generally good writing, but I couldn't get fully invested in the characters, and the subplots were distracting. I skimmed through half of the book. Character-wise, i found Isabelle rather frustrating with her repeated attempts at escape without thinking things through. Campbell was amiable and amusing, but not at all arresting. I did like some of the secondary characters.

Overall, the author seems promising; I would keep an eye out for future books.

I loved the characters! Oh my, the poor heroine had a long run of bad luck. But she is incredibly determined and isn't whiney despite all that happens to her. I laughed. I cried. I raged. Each and every chapter was an emotional roller coaster! I love stories that make me much! lol!

Enjoyable book to read. Had a little bit of everything. Drama, romance, humor, adventure.

Laird David Campbell rescues a woman who keeps trying to escape. Lady Isabelle Tynsdale is trying to get to someone who will annul her marriage to Lord Tynsdale so she can be free of his treachery. Although she hasn't seen him in years, he will now want her to return because her uncle has passed and the land that she inherits will be rightfully claimed by her husband. Only she does not know that her husband

THE HIGHLANDER'S HEART was a captivating story with a strong cast of characters and an intriguing plot line. This is the second book of Amanda Forester's Highlander series, but it can easily be read stand-alone. The story is about a young English lady named Isabelle who escapes her abusive husband by fleeing alone into Scotland. She is rescued (several times) by the rugged and charming Laird David Campbell. David has turmoil in his life too; his loyalty is being torn between the opposing ambitio ...more

Improbable, but Well Told Tale

Second in her Highlander's series, this one is set in England and Scotland in 1355, during the time England held Scotland's King David captive. It tells the story of Lady Isabelle Tynsdale, who is on the run from her English husband. Separated from her guard, she crosses the border into Scotland and meets Laird David Campbell. Once Campbell realizes who she is, he hopes to ransom the English countess. However, Isabelle has no intention of being returned to the horri

I received an advanced copy through a Goodreads giveaway.

Cons :
- The author constantly forgets that she's writing an Historical Romance and uses modern terms quite frequently throughout the novel.
- Clean Romance/Christian Romance. I should state that I was not aware that this was a Christian Romance when I first received the novel. This genre might be a pro for a few readers, but it turned out to be a rather large con for me.
- Hated all the religious themes, the book would've flowed a lot bette

I liked both Isabelle and David. They eased into their affection with each other, in fact, their union is not consummated until near the end, after they marry, since he honors her married state. The force of their attraction did not come through for me. I found it comfortable and indeed neither character is overly passionate. I enjoyed the story but in addition to the lack of passion between the two, there were too many sub-plots. I liked Cait and Andrews mini story plus there is Alys and Archie ...more

This is an adorable story and one of how persistance doesn't always get you what you want. Patience is a virtue though and our heroine should have learned this long ago but alas it's not one of her strongest traits.

Lady Isabelle is a real beauty but a little of the persistantly daft side. She will do anything to stay away from her husband and will even tempt the nine lives of a black cat. She's daring, crafty, gutsy, smart but without an ounce of common sense and ever so desperate. Being so desp

I'm new to this series, so I read book 2 not knowing there were more. The book pretty much stands for itself, and I absolutely loved the chemistry and interactions of the hero and heroine. Isabelle is escaping from her husband, and manages to run away and get lost - ending up in Scotland. There, she constantly finds herself in trouble, and David Campbell finds himself constantly rescuing her. I love the humor in this book; I found myself laughing out loud at times. Hihihi. Lumayan buat ngisi waktu.

Loved it. Can't wait to read Forrester's second installment. Lady Isa escapes a cruel, older husband running into Laird Campbell as she does so. Adventure, steamy foreplays, LOL antics, teamwork, family, relationships - a wonderful potpourri of emotions. An excellent read.
I have a rule of thumb when picking up books from the library: if the first sentence grabs me, I read the first page. If the first page grabs me, I add the book to my library bag. My love for Outlander and all things British Isles isn't a secret, so when I saw the plaid, loved the first sentence, then the first page, I was hooked. Amanda Forester was going to be my new obsession.

It didn't quite work out that way.

The story moves along okay, but this series has an odd, evangelical bent that can feel forced. The book doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. Flashes of brilliance in some of the dialogue, though.

This was a good book, some parts were annoying though such how long it took her to tell him the truth, but it enabled me to enjoy her escape plots because of that.
