Jack and Cass Mandeville are a dream couple, ridiculously happy together and successful to boot - Jack as a journalist and Cass with her own hugely popular radio show. Indeed, almost every member of the Mandeville family is famous in their own right: from stunning Cleo, a supermodel with attitude, to Sean, the rising star of the comedy circuit. Incredibly good-looking and...more

So many reviewers here on Goodreads express dislike for this book, even when they've liked Mansell's other, later books. But this one features many of the themes/character types that reappear in almost all of her books: cheating men; unpleasantly selfish women whom you still feel a bit for; the importance of families, and love between the generations. And a very deft authorial hand at interweaving shifting points of view within each strand of her tripled storyline. Perhaps not as laugh-out-loud...more

Not nearly as good as Jill Mansell's other books

Jill Mansell's books (that I have so far had the misfortune to read) have been far insult to an intelligent (or even semi-intelligent) audience. All seem to follow the same premise of ultra chick lit trash. Be prepared to lose brain cells when reading her trite, clichéd rubbish.

The heroine is generally naïve and either unsuccessful in her career or from a disadvantaged background. A confirmed sap, sh'es invariably misunderstood by our dashing rich “hero” - and is usually betrayed by a former boy...more

Horrible. Possibly the worst book I attempted to read, and I read the first Twilight.

I bought this book because I thought it was about a threesome, and I still think it would have been much more interesting had it been about Cass and Jack's attraction for the jornalist, in a real love triangle.

Characters were unlikable. Jack, who was portraid has Cass's prince charming, was disgusting: the story how the two of them met and he insulted her best friend and Cass didn't even seem to mind was absolut...more

I love British chick lit and while it hasn't been easy for me to find Jill Mansell books, I'm always excited to add a new author to my list of favorites and was thrilled when I was finally able to get ahold of one. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with this book. I found it to be tiresome and actually did something I NEVER do...I scanned just to get through it. I had a hard time working up sympathy for any of the characters and was just disgusted with them through most of the book. My in...more

I hated this book with a passion. Unfortunately I'm one of those people who has to finish a book once I've started it no matter how appalling it is. It was unfunny with an awful storyline, a terrible ending and annoying characters. I've been given a load of Jill Mansell books and this is the first one I've read. The rest will be heading to the charity shop to be sold on to some other poor unsuspecting fool.

Hard to follow, didn't really like the way it was written - it's the first Jill Mansell book that I haven't liked so far.

2,5 stars

2.5 stars!

For the first half, this book made me REALLY mad. As a few other people have said, Jack's cheating on his wife Cass was what really infuriated me. And Imogen was SUCH a bitch! Which made me sad because she has the same name as me! :(
I bought this as an audiobook, and only really persevered because I was annoyed that I'd spent money on it, and was determined to get my moneys worth!

I recently read Jill's latest book "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" and LOVED it! Since then I've managed to pi...more

While this wasn't my favorite Mansell novel, it was still a great read. All of the ingredients were there, chance meetings, missed opportunities, misunderstandings, and a happily ever after for everyone who deserved it.

The cast of characters is, as always, delightful. Mansell manages to bring to life a dizzying array of unique personalities and makes you want to either meet them for lunch or push them down a flight of stairs.

This book was a bit slower paced than her newer novels, and the flow b...more

Mas vou...more

There are so many things I'd love to change about this book, but the main one is that I think Pandora and that manipulative Donny should have been dealt with. I never liked Pandora, but her heartlessness at the end is what finally sealed it for me. And the fact she didn't really seem to think twice about believing Donny was just pathetic! But, I guess since she got herself set up nice thanks to his money... So wish there was a sequel so these fools could get their Karma-slap, just like Imogen! L...more

I love it. It's something like Olivia goldsmiths' First Wives Club..minus the revenge part. More of karma part.

A page turning book for me.

What I don't like is Cass seems to be unbelievablely "calm" and "passive" aboutvyhe whole thing. She is a bit too good to be true. Would have been s more believable read if there is more meanest in her character.

Of all I think i love Sophie the most.

Would be more interesting if jack put up more fight before his fall.

What can I say, a typical Jill:)
So many characters that I guess I must start to write them all down, many plots, but everything is a compatible entirety. Not so down to earth characters, more celebrities than our neighbours, but with the same problems, although loosing them was not so easy for them as well. Hated Sean - really. He was worse than rollercoaster and was behaving like a spiled child, which he probably just is. Would like to have such daughter as Sophie :)

Leest lekker weg.

this was my least favorite of this writer. the ending sucks... it's way too open to end a book.

Entertaining. Lotsa plots going around, but instead of making one big mess, they have been dealt pretty well. Though wish it could have somehow worked well between Sean and Pandora as well. :(
Great characterization!
A light witty take at extra-marital affairs. So ofcourse rightly said, Two's company but three's a calamity! ;)

This is one them books you read and think "Yeah, it's okay" but then you never read it again. Mainly because it's forgettable. Even after reading it I struggle to remember what actually happened. I don't think this book is one the the author's best. It failed to have me hooked and I only read it because it was something to read.

Jill Mansell lives with her partner and children in Bristol, and writes full time. Actually that’s not true; she watches TV, eats fruit gums, admires the rugby players training in the sports field behind her house, and spends hours on the internet marvelling at how many other writers have blogs. Only when she’s completely run out of displacement activities does she write.

Jill Mansell's books have...more
