This was a great sequel for Werewolf at the Zoo. I liked this one even better because the characters of Lark and Declan were more engaging for me. Declan was a typical alpha in many ways, but he also showed a lot of understanding for Lark's needs and past experiences. Lark was a lot stronger than his physical size let's you expect, and that was a nice surprise. I also enjoyed the plot around Declan trying to hide he was Lark's mate and Lark worrying about one of the kids of the pack. Best of all...more

2011 Review:

Cute, cute. The protagonists were perhaps slightly more prone to errors of judgement that the ones in the first volume, but they also came to their senses speedily and without prompting, so that’s all good.

Altogether it was really nice. I appreciate how in this series so far the obedience and dominance really works. It’s not demeaning and yet pretty much absolute and instinctual. Heroes of one story do not have to be top dog or even ranked second or anything, without it diminishing t...more

This is the second book that I've read in this series about the Wolves of Stone Ridge. This one is the second book in the series and I've read the ninth one. I have gotten on just fine reading it out of order though if you don't want to know ahead of time who gets mated to whom then you'll want to read them in order. Sometimes I'm in the mood for shorter lighter romances with very little angst and simpler plots. Because the series operates on the premise that the shifter will know their mate whe...more

I was extremely disappointed in this read. It didn't live up to the chemistry found of book 1, or book 12.

This was a pairing I wanted to read about, but the story ended up being a dud. The writing was awkward in a few places and very lazy. There were gaps between scenes that didn't make any sense. And also a few sentences throughout the entire manuscript that didn't make sense at all. There were a few spelling errors here; I didn't notice any in the books 1 and 12.

The story of hunting poachers t...more

One of the worst book I have read in a long time.... It is one nosense after another and there is no conclusion or explanation to the characters actions.

The two protagonists are totally traumatized people and we have to read more than 100 pages of them monaning and staring at each other without doing nothing or even trying to talk or understand each other... and the n they mate and that's all.

The pack conflict that th book sells doesn't exist, It's only one man which actions are never explain...more

I truly enjoyed this story! It was sweet, emotional, passionate and very well written. At first glance Declan comes off as the typical alpha. Dominate, larger than the normal werewolf, strong, stubborn, confidant, and sexy. As the novella unfolds though you find he is anything but the average alpha. He patient, thoughtful, understanding, and while he is dominate this never overshadows his desire for Lark to be happy. Lark is very much a twink with eye-liner and lip gloss but you never feel that...more

I truly enjoyed this story! It was sweet, emotional, passionate and very well written. The pace was balanced. While there is some sexually charged moments as well as some sex scenes, they were more about showing the emotional growth and connection between the characters than actual erotica.

I wish the ending had been spread out a bit more, it still ended really well and I honestly can’t wait to read the next in the series. I recommend this to all lovers of shape shifters and man on man love.

I really loved this sequel...I just loved Lark and Declan and thought they were just perfect for each other. I thought Sara was adorable, and I'm interested in knowing more about the new characters. And now I'm really looking forward to whoever's story is next! This is turning into a great series, with engaging characters and a strong family element that I really like. I think I said it before, but I really like how women are included in the series, while not being shoved in our faces as they ha...more

I don't like how it skips stuff. Like (view spoiler)[ we leave Decon going on a mission type thing and next time we see him he is shot. But we don't see or get told what happened.

Then I really don't like that slutty Lark was going to club to hook up. Then is attacked in alley with the trick that picked him up. It was just like whatever why am I supposed to like this character?

And then the hand job slash dry humping scene. Somehow everything is hurting to he can have sex on the couch. And some h

This was a cute story. I liked how sufficiently broken and scared Lark was of Declan and I liked how Declan had to essentially woo Lark since Lark was so damaged.

The story is a nice one in a way where it leaves you with a bit of a smile (at least for me). Although the conflicts within we're not very extravagant they fit the story to match with the characters. I loved the fact that Sarah, an abused little shifter girl, was such a big part of the story but ultimately thought the story, especially...more

I am fastly coming to love this series. I love how Richards has written the shifters you can tell the effort she has put in to set her series apart from the masses of shifter romances and it is greatly appreciated. Declan quickly became one of my favorites he was a great hero and alpha, I found myself routing for him wholeheartedly. His mate Nate? I believe on the other hand I did not like at all but I was happy the alpha got his hea (as if he wouldn't we all know these books follow a formula)

Declan is the alpha of his pack/clan; he's the son of in Irish alpha wolf and an African slave woman - but his the written version of his accent is weird! He adds strays to his pack all the time, a variety of shifters. They have good relationships with several humans and interact with them frequently. I did not figure out how those interactions affected the rest of the group, except they seem to mate with humans a lot.

The language was difficult - too much trying to get an accent into written wor...more

3.5 stars. I felt like this was an improvement on the first book. I really, really liked Lark. I give kudos to Declan for trying his best to make Lark feel comfortable and secure around him. Was nice that Rainy and Trevor made some appearances, too.

Great story about the alpha. I loved both main characters in this. Lark's feisty attitude tempered with an alpha with great control. Only lost a star because of his ribs being damaged and still managing very active sex. That was just something that nagged me for some reason. Overall, I loved the story and look forward to the next one.

I really like reading her books. After reading the book I think about the next 2 or 3 people who will be in future books. This is a good thing because that means there is always another book to read.

The second part in this series was a bit better for my taste. The plot wasn't as original but pleasant. I liked this couple!

I read this while sleepy and it managed to hold my attention. It's a traditional shifter story, nothing new, but it is nicely written. If you want to relax this is a good read.

It managed to have effeminate character without making him into a female. Which is a big plus.

Minuses:
The plot, especially near the end is quite banal (near the end the I love you scene had me rolling my eyes).
Characters were a walking hard ons. How can you have a hard on while taking out a bullet/having a bullet taken...more

Cute second story in this series. Declan, the alpha of the pack recognizes his mate in Lark but has a bit of difficulty courting him. Lark has been hurt a few times in the past by various abusive boyfriends and is injured in this story as well. We learn more about Declan's past and also have some of the rest of the pack introduced in this story.

Another fun and easy read without too much angst but enough conflict to keep it interesting.

Loved it as I did the other books in the series!
