Cheap and Lazy
I had a problem with the premise. The hero finds the heroine in a dungeon while he's rescuing others (for pay). He asks her how much she can pay him to get her out. She lies, since she doesn't have anything. He punishes her for the lie and offers to help her if she'll give her virginity to him (thus ruining her for a good marriage in that time period). Now, if he was supposed to be a jerk who the heroine's love changed, I wouldn't have had a problem with this. I had no problem with the punishmen...more

The hero was an asshat who didn't deserve the heroine. She was quite likeable except when in the hero's company, she turned into a doormat.

This was a kindle freebie.

I really liked this book. It was a pleasant surprise, as I had zero expectations going in. It is set in a historical period that I don't normally read, the medieval ages. Not sure exactly when, I don't believe a specific year or century is referenced.

The hero and heroine are caring, mature people. They put the needs of their people ahead of themselves and in the end, are rewarded for it. The story is just solidly written - nice descriptions, good dialogue, realistic fee...more

Lord Joeffrey likes to spank. And flog. Including his serfs, chained in manacles in the great hall. Yea. He was my hero.
Lady Rosalind likes to manage the household. And be spanked. And then apologize for her actions later. While humbly resigning herself from lady to leman. Yea.

I had to skip whole sections to get through this book - our Lady was a simpering Mary Sue, and our Lord was a sadist. I just didn't feel it.

Lady Rosalind is found and rescued by Lord Jeoffrey. Lady Rosalind at first is not sure what to think of Lord Jeoffrey after he offers her a place in his household as his mistress. Feeling grateful to Lord Jeoffrey for rescueing her ,she accepts and rapidly find each other fallimg in love. All together It is a great romance set in the time of Knights and Damsels in Distress.

I’m really very ordinary, you know, so it’s hard to know what to say here. I’m a mom and a grandma. I do laundry and clean house (well, sometimes) and wash dishes like everyone else.

I grew up in New York (the city, that is) and moved to North Carolina some thirty years ago. I discovered books early and buried myself in them as much as possible as a child and a teenager. I still love sinking into a...more
