Loved this book! Made me laugh, made me teary-eyed--an amazing ending to the series.

3.5 Stars: Good Reading

Hot Under Pressure by Louisa Edwards is a surprising novel. This is the first novel in the Rising Chef series that I have read and I am intrigued enough to want to go back and read the preceding stories. This particular book is a very pleasing romance with an original backdrop to have people connect on an intimate level.

Henry Beck and Skye Gladwell’s relationship is very tenuous. Before the Rising Chef Competition (RSC), they have not laid eyes on each other despite the fa

3.5 stars - while I felt the conflict was dragged on too long, I rounded up because of the originality of the plot.

Two stars because Goodreads thinks people are idiots who won't understand half-star ratings.

This was my least favorite in the series, due to Skye Gladwell annoying me and the whole "Babies ever after" trope I hate.

As usual, I love the food descriptions, the recipe index in the back of the book, and the knowledge Edwards clearly has of a professional kitchen.

Down to the meat of the book, I'm glad to finally get to know the mystery of Henry Beck. As we found out in the previous book, he is still

Let's face it. I started this series mostly because of my interest in the culinary arts...

Okay okay, it was the cover of this book that cinched it. I wanted to jump start this one right away, but I like to read series in actual order. So when I finally got to this book, I savored every morsel of it. Needless to say, this was my favorite in the series!

In the second book, we learned that there was a connection between Beck and Skye... that they were married. Life has dealt them both some hard blo

Is there anything sexier than a man who can cook? The answer is yes, a man who cooks AND cleans up after himself, but we are talking about chefs here, so let’s stick to cooking. Hot Under Pressure is the last book in the Rising Star Chef series, if you haven’t read the previous books you’ll probably be able to enjoy this one but it won’t be the same so my suggestion is to read them in order.

Henry Beck is the newest member of the restaurant, but despi
There are a lot of readers who will enjoy this book more than I did. For some reason I didn't connect with the characters, even though there was a good bit of character development and a decent amount of angst in the story. I think anyone who is a fan of Louisa Edwards and has read the Rising Star Chef trilogy will want to read this final installment. It certainly has more emotional depth than the first book in the trilogy. (I realized I hadn't read the second one after I started this book. Afte ...more

It was definitely much better than the previous book which I gave only two stars. Again, the beginning was rather slow but the characters were less annoying and their story was much more engaging.

Even though I didn't like the second book in the series, I decided to read this one because I was interested in Beck and Skye story. I liked them both since the previous book, definitely much more than Danny and Eva.

The only thing that bothers me is the time Beck spend in the army. He enlisted and afte

Should you ever put love on the back burner?

The competition may be about who is the greatest chef, but with Henry Beck and Skye Gladwell it is also about healing deep wounds. Beck and Skye seemed to throw their love away but neither of them really ever walked away. Both of them have been running from childhood trauma and past imperfections but always believed they were at their best when they were together. It has been ten rocky years of building a life while living apart. All it takes is one ki

Beck is competing in the Rising Star Chef competition. Beck is the newest member to join the East Coast Team There are four teams competing in the competition. One of the other teams involves Beck's estranged wife, Skye.

This is the first time that Beck and Skye have been in the same room in a long time. Skye tells Beck that she wants a divorce. Beck is not ready to let Skye go without a fight. Beck makes a challenge with Skye. If Beck's team wins, then he will give Skye, the divorce she wants b

Another romance from Louisa Edwards in which wayward and flawed chefs fight for their signature dishes and love. Skye and Henry are married, but it has been ten years since they have been together. While they have buried their feelings in work, they still have feelings (if only lust) for each other. Now in an head-to-head chef's competition with each other, can they overcome their issues and still find happiness while keeping the heat on and the dishes tasty? Loved that Edwards shared the recipe ...more
How unaware are you of the shit real woman go through that you think its a good idea to create a 'hero' who thinks its romantic or funny to silently creep up on a woman when she's exposed and vulnerable and thinks she's alone and grope her?! How deep does an author's (internalised) mysogynistic streak have to run to create a 'hero' who won't give a woman what's rightfully hers unless she wins it from him... and if she looses she has to have sex with him?!?! This is NOT okay.

Let’s start with the question everyone wants to know when it comes to series books… does it stand well on it’s own? Well, the answer to that is yes and no. I read book one well over a year ago and the plot is rather fuzzy in my mind and I haven’t read book two. Throughout most of this story I felt like I was missing a piece of the puzzle by not having read book two. Every once in a while, events
Not too impressed with this book but I liked it better than the last one in the series (Some Like It Hot). Beck and Skye are competing in the Rising Star Chef competition on different teams. It was revealed in the last book that these two were married and had been estranged for 10 years. My main problem with this book was that I could not like either character. I get that they had a traumatic event in their marriage early on but I don't understand how you walk away and leave it hanging for ten y ...more

Mi favorito de los 3 libros C:

Beck me ganó <3 totalmente lindo

Me mató la parte en que cuentan su historia a través de 5 tiempos en comida
I'm still mad that the most interesting couple in this series didn't get their own book.

This was not my favourite Louisa Edwards. I felt as if the storyline was much too fractured not only between Skye and Henry in the present and the past, but also between the other characters whose stories are advancing behind the scenes. Maybe I was too far away from some of the other books in the series, but I felt a bit of whiplash as I tried to piece together all the romantic subplots and issues.

I'm also not a big fan of baby-centred storylines and this wallops you with a lot of lost-baby/bab

It was an ok book. Beck had so much promise as the dark, brooding guy and then that fizzled. His back story came at the very end of the book but by then, I was no longer very interested. Also, the reason for his claustrophobia was never explained unless I missed it during the fabulous characterization of the food. And Skye...she just seemed off. The whole situation with her parents? If they're hippies, why was being a chef and running a healthy restaurant unacceptable? This was just one of those ...more

The final book in the Rising Star Chef series by Louisa Edwards, Hot Under Pressure is about the enigmatic chef, Beck, and Skye, another chef in the competition who we were introduced to in the last book, Some Like it Hot, and who we learned is actually Beck’s estranged wife! They’ve been married for ten years, but they’ve not seen each other almost the entire time because Beck joined the Navy to take care of their little family. While he was underway, they experienced a traged

In the final book of the “Rising Star Chef” trilogy, Henry Beck presumably thought he’d already faced the toughest kitchen challenge of his life. Who could top sweating it out as a Navy cook on a submarine? However, when he learns his competition is none other than the sweet hippie girl he’d married … and left …ten years ago, the heat is on! Beck and Skye are going head to head into the finals and though they both want to win….it’s much more personal to Skye to win over Beck, the man who abandon ...more

In the last & final book in Louisa Edward's Rising Star Chef series, we get the long awaited climax to the cooking contest we've been following since book one as well as getting to finally know who & what the mysterious Beck is all about.

Beck was definitely a tortured soul & I loved him almost immediately. I don't know what it is about the heroines in this series, but it took me a little longer to warm up to Skye, the wife he left behind 9 years ago when she needed him most but they

This is the third book in the Rising Star Chef series by Louisa Edwards. If you've never read a book where cooking of any kind was the back drop then i encourage you to start with this one. It works well as a stand alone but if you like to read in series order that works too. The first two in this series are Too Hot to Touch and Some Like it Hot then followed by Hot Under Pressure. In book one you get a intro into all the characters. That's where we all get to meet Beck as he's known by most. He ...more

Hot Under Pressure by Louisa Edwards

Hot Under Pressure continues the sexy cooking series by Louisa Edwards. In her latest book, the two main characters are a married couple who divorced ten years ago. Both are reunited when they compete for the Rising Star Chef title. As the competition heats up, so does their long, thought dead relationship. But is it real or just part of the competition?

Henry Beck has had a hard life. Living in foster homes and fen

Loved so much!!!

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of Hot Under Pressure from NetGalley thanks to Louisa. I’m a huge fan and was so excited to get my hands on this final book in the series early.

I absolutely loved this book. Beck and Skye are both such amazing characters and I enjoyed getting to know them both better in this book. The chemistry between Beck, or Henry as Skye calls him, is obvious anytime they are in the same room. I loved getting to know more about their history together a
