Please say this will be a series!
Thought I was going to 'fall' for one character, and ended up smitten with another. And boy, oh boy, was there eye candy to go around. This is the type of fae story I just love- getting swept up suddenly in fae (events, culture, people- anything and everything fae) involving equal amounts of good and bad. They may be all magical and powerful, but there is a dark edge even in some of the seemingly most innocent offers.
I really, really enjoyed it. Younger readers...more

I'm not normally one to read books on Faeries but I must say this one had me intrigued from page one till the end. Its filled with mystery, action and magic and a compelling storyline that I read in one sitting.
Steady paced storyline, with a great cast of supporting characters, chapters that flowed smoothly and an intriguing plot. I enjoyed the determination of the main characters, her life was not as it seemed. She always thought she was different and upon meeting Jack her life was thrown into...more

I had a breakthrough last night while devouring the last 80% of this book. I finally understand Alexia's writing style. Some reviewers (including myself) have stated that the first part of her books are a bit slow. I said that about Reign of Blood (which haunts me. I cannot stop thinking about it) and others have said it about this book. I don't necessarily think that this is what is actually going on. Yes, they are slow moving. But little do you know that Alexia is weaving her magic word spell....more

So Shade Shade Shade is the product of love in my opinion! Shade is a very one of a kind girl. She finds Jack one day while walking home because her mom forgot her. But when she walks in to a scene full of flying objects and fire she is ready to back out and run but the voices in her head said stay! After the huge fight she witnessed Jack said come with me so Miss Shade did. When she walking into the woods she had never felt so at home alive she was drunk on good feeling. Jack brings her to an u...more
Grab your back pack, stuff it full with EVERYTHING you may need… don’t worry if it will fit, or that it may be to heavy for you to carry. They have spells for that, so pack away I say!!!
The unbelievable quest of your life is about to start as you travel with Shade to a world you only thought or dreamed existed. You will be introduced to a magical place, the land of Fey with all who dwell within… Faeries, (all kinds) Pixies, Kings, Queens, princesses, and warriors. Good and bad, secrets and lies...more

Shade's life hasn't always been easy. Part of her feels as if she's an outsider looking in on it. She can hear voices in her head and she has powers she can't quite explain. Her best friend, Brisa, is the only one really knows Shade's secret, one she'll carry with her to the grave. Yet neither can deny that her powers are something they don't quite understand.

I wanted to give this book 3 stars and a half but 4 stars it will be for the originality there was in the plot. I do not read a lot of fairy books but this one was nice to read and Shade was a great main character who is true to herself and do not fall into the arms of the first "supernatural" man she encounters if u see what I mean.
There are some things that disturbs me but all in all I would be glad to read the next book**
I forgot to say that the book cover looks amazing, I LOVE IT

Finished this last night! It was a little hard to get into it at first, but then I flew through it and can't wait for the next book. So many questions to be answered and I hope they are answered in the next book. Don't really want to leave a list of those questions and ruin the book for others, I'm sure that everyone will have their own list at the end as well. Very descriptive, unimaginable places and people, leaves you wanting more!
Oh, how I love me a good fairytale!
Ever Shade was a great story, with a great concept, and a great plot. I really enjoyed the MC, Shade. She was a typical teenager, except for the voices in her head, that didn't know she posessed something greater inside, and through her journey, began to believe in herself and witness the magic she posessed.
Author Alexia Purdy painted a wonderful world filled with faeries and other magical beings. I hope to visit there one day! :) The only sad thing is that I...more

Once I started this book I could not put it down, I had to know what happen next. I usually don't like fantasy books, this was the first fantasy book i have read and i loved it. Shade learns who she really is, she finds out that she has powers and she is part faery and part human. Shade finds out that her father is really not her real father he is her adoptive father. Shade goes on a journey to help saved the faery world. Well Shade be able to help save the faery world? I could go on about this...more
This book got off to a rough start for me, it could have used more editing. It suffered from some homophone problems. The story was moving along well enough that eventually I did get caught up in the story.
I'm not sure I am a fan of the main character, she was kind of whiny. This book also used about every cliche imaginable. There were also a few things which didn't make a lot of sense. They made the Shade (the main character) seem not so smart. She meets her first fae, he's telling her how jus...more

I love the Fae – whether you are a fan of Faery or Fairy … you need to read Ever Shade by Alexia Purdy.
What’s the difference you ask – here’s my distinction between the two: fairies (with an I) are the cute little creatures popularized by children’s companies that flit around and don’t really do any harm – for example Tinkerbell. Faeries (with an E) are something entirely different. The world of the fae is most commonly understood as having 2 divisions – the light and the dark or Seelie and Uns...more

A whole new take on fairy tale! Again another fast pace, action packed book with tons of drama, love, and fights.
This book was by far one of my favorite fairy tale books. Shade is an thrown into this fairy world/war with no knowledge but she is part fairy. Here she is expected to bring them to peace, and try hard not to get killed in the process.
She has a band of warriors willing to put their life on the line for her but for what price. They don't owe her anything but she soon makes friends.

Yea Jack, hottie was my first thought, "He wore a tight black shirt with a leather belt tightened around his waist and multiple items strung onto it, including a sword." Men who carry sword I have a fetish for that haha. Soap he cracked me up fell in love with him as well not to mention he's good looking, "He was tall muscular and his long brown hair was tied back with some loose wisps framing his face. He wore form fitting armor and leather, a sword strapped to his back." Mostly though he crack...more
Despite the editing errors (spacing, commas, random underline, etc), I think the basics of this story is great. I even sense some possible love-triangle scenarios (though I haven't quite narrowed down who the two main competitors will be). Unfortunately I thought the narration rambled a bit too much and explanations were a bit too straight forward. I have hopes for this author; I think the writing will mature with the next book in the series (keeping my fingers crossed for it, anyway).

Shade, a normal teen aged girl, lives at home with her little brothers and sister and her mom. Dad died but was loved and she keeps busy with her family and school. She has always had a gift of knowing things that people didn't want known. Like when she knows someone is cheating on a test. Her fellow students don't take kindly to that gift. What no one knows is that she learns these things from voices that guide her, annoy her and push her to do certain things. She has never understood...more

First Line: “One long pause and the man pondered the choice he had just made. He watched the woman and her new husband as they laughed and chatted away inside their house. Her long honey brown hair shone in shimmering waves down her back and swung around her, as her husband twirled her around the kitchen, dancing to the music from the radio that sat on the windowsill. He did not realize the pangs of jealousy that swirled in his stomach, he had made the decision and had to let it play out now. Sh...more

Evershade was a slow starter for me. I was not entirely sure I would enjoy it actually which really saddened my given all of the great reviews I have noticed popping up on it.

Hea y'all Anne here and I've just finished reading Ever Shade by Alexia Purdy and wow what a great faery tale!! This book is seriously imaginative and will rope you into the story right away. It wants for nothing and is awesome for lovers of Fae and the like creatures. This book is much like Lord Of The Rings but with more faeries and their friends. The story line is exciting and filled with twists and plot secrets that will leave you gasping and waiting for more. Alexia has an amazing imaginati...more
“Interim Blue” is the ideal book to relax with. It carries you away to the world of Faerie where you will meet Blythe the dryad queen, Dylan, a rather special Teleen warrior and poor cursed Ursad. The main character, Shade, also discovers that she has more than a little magical talent herself and despite the fact that she misses her family in the human world, becomes very fond of her special company of guards. Whisked away on this adventure that she feels herself ill-equipped for, Shade copes re...more

I really enjoyed this one. Usually when there is a prologue in the book I don't connect as much with whoever from the past is being featured. This one started off different from the get-go. I really felt like Shade's father showed so much emotion in that one pre-chapter that I knew I was going to really like this book.
We really don't get much of Shade before she is thrust into the world of the Fae. We don't even meet the family she speaks so fondly of, but...more

Got this book while it was on offer and glad I did as it was compelling and though the subject was Fairies it seemed fresh and new.
Shade is the eldest child of 4 who helps her single mom wrangle the family together. Occasionally she may be forgotten about but she loves her family completely. You'd think she would never get privacy but she's kept one big secret from everyone but her best friend, that she can hear voices.

i liked this book, i love all things faerie especially when the author showed us so much of the world. however the writing style was really not that great, there were lots of errors especially with continuation (oh so many aggravating moments). shade seemed to find something out then forget and ask someone else about it and i would be sitting there like 'omg you just got told this same answer 10 minutes ago!!!!!!'

I received this book from the author to give an honest review!
The cover is amazing! I love it.
I love reading about faerie's and this book was a great read from me. Now I am giving this book 4 1/2 stars because at times I felt as though some of the story was missing. For example was her bff freaking out when Shade was not there? She never got an answer about the caverns and their use of power. I wanted to know about the scars that she was hiding! Why did she not want to show them to the others? A...more
