High expectations can send any sane person running. Wouldn't you? Put yourself in Matt Carrington's shoes. His family expects so much from him. He's to be the perfect, obedient son and do as he's told, even when he's a grown man and can make his own decisions. Even after coming back from the war, his parents want him to feel this, or be that. Matt is an misunderstood man. How many people feel exactly that way? I can sure relate. Heart

I was pulled into this story because I disliked the fiance and parents of Matt Carrington, which made the story more interesting, and opened my eyes to how important it is to include hateful characters in a story as well as likable ones. I've noticed that on TV reality shows, too. The annoying people keep the show interesting.
