I feel soooo guilty writing such short reviews for such fabulous stories, but it's all been said so perfectly by other reviewers. And yet, I can't NOT writing something, so here goes!
Golden Trail is another wonderful, exciting story filled with all kinds of awesome, memorable moments, and it’s the kind of tale that grabs hold and doesn’t let go. There’s a great supporting cast of characters, and as with all Kristen Ashley’s books, plenty of sexual tension and burn up the pages lovin’.

Golden Trail is book 3 in Kristen Ashley’s the Burg series. I’ve loved every single book in this series thus far and Golden Trail is no exception. But, then again, there is not much that I do not love when it comes to Kristen Ashley. Still not sure about her parenting techniques (like, not AT ALL), but, again, KA managed to drag me into a fascinating story and keep me riveted to the very end. Rocky's breakdown, toward the end, is very hard to read, and, if you have any triggers for panic/PTSD/etc, be aware that scene might possibly set you off. It was a little too real, in my opinion.
Quite a story. I don't know how she keeps doing this.

Wow.
Seems to me, when I use fewer words you guys appreciate it, so here goes my attempt at brevity (wish me luck cuz I freakin' loved this book).
A wonderful, satiating, KA experience (that's a brand now) with characters I love and a storyline that was complex but not complicated. All the good KA was here including interesting, quirky or familiar side characters and tons of active dialogue. I was laughing, grinning and enjoying every single page!

Really loved this one!!! The story and action kept moving through the whole book. While it was a deep read it was also a relaxing one lots of "life" building so I took my time with this one unlike some of Kristen's others that I seriously cannot put down this one I could but not because I didn't love it but because it was just that kind of book for me... make sense?

5***** Stars THE HERO'S STORY This entire story was told in the first person by the HERO!! That's so cool. Out of the 700 + romance books that I have read, not once was the entire story told by the hero. That is soooo friggin cool. Gabaldon does that a little in her books, but NOT THE WHOLE STORY! Ok. It was a bit of a struggle to get through this one. Layne had soooo much going on that it wore me out. As always, I love KA men. Layne really dug in and stuck with Rocky and I loved that. I loved his boys and there were some really great secondary characters. I really liked Rocky but she wasn't one of my top favorite as far as KA female characters...that said she had a a lot to deal with.

Ok, I vacillated between a 3 and 4 star rating for this book because I think it does suffer from a lack of time inside Rocky's head. I didn't think Layne was any worse than any other KA alpha male lead, but alot of what makes you fall for a hero in a book is being able to see him through the heroine's eyes, and in this book you didn't even get a real glimpse into what makes her tick until about 85% in. I get it was for dramatic effect (view spoiler)...more
I am a longtime fan of Kristen Ashley but this book was very different, in not a good way, from the dozen or so of her books, including the Rock Chick series, I have read previously. In fact, the way women are portrayed in the novel is so different, again not in a good way, that I might have asked, "Who really wrote this book?" were it not for Ashley's usual terrific ability to emotionally engage the reader and to keep up the fast-paced tension.

I loved this book. It made me laugh in pretty much every chapter. If I had a book family it would be the Layne men. I also loved that this book was all in Tanner Layne's POV. His sons, Jasper and Tripp, definitely added to the dynamic of the story. I liked following their lives a bit and the lives of some of their friends. I was very pleased that the Winter girls made it in to this story with Cal as well. Ryker is a hoot and I love what his role becomes to Tanner, other wise known as just Layne....more

They had love...They had each other.
But somethings aren't easy to forget. And those things are the type of things that are kept in the soul. In the mind. In the heart.
Rocky had kept them locked thight. The dark within, could never reach her if she had Tanner beside her...Or so she thought.

While Joe Callahan and Ty Walker remain my favourite KA heroes (or at least, the most I swoon over and pine for), I'm thinking Tanner Layne, realistically speaking, is who I would love to go home to. I mean a couple made for each other, separated without a reason, then reunited 18-20 years later because of some crime that was committed. I wasn't sure what to think about the characters at the start of the book, but quickly fell in love with them. Layne definitely has his own way of parenting, one that not everyone would agree with, but it worked for him. I think that with his past, his way of dealing with his boys was good for them. For some reason I put off reading 'The Golden Trail' when devouring 'The 'Burg' series. Well, I finally rectified that mistake and I'm sorry it took me so long to get to it - I really enjoyed Layne and Rocky's story (no surprise there - it is a KA book after all!)
