I thought this was incredibly cliched and cloying. I started by reading the first couple pages aloud, which made the silliness of it more obvious. If the author was trying to sound like an exceptionally romantic and melodramatic teenage girl, then she succeeded. However, the plot is fairly interesting and fast-paced.

After reading the second story in this series I was unsure whether I wanted to continue reading or not. I was happy to see that the author Hawthorne gave the readers some closure in regards to Brittany's status as a Static or a Shifter. I loved this last installment in the trilogy. Rachel Hawthorne wrote each book from the perspective of one of three heriones who are friends.In the first two books, I could not tell whether or not I would like Brittany. She was always quiet, menacing and scowling in the background. I did not get a sense of whether she was good or evil; however, this book reveals all and I must say, I truly enjoyed it. This book was amazing! I couldn't put it down and finished it in 3 to 4 hours. I especially loved the characters Connor and Brittany. They were awesome together and I loved the ending! The first and second book were good, but not my favorite. And the characters weren't that great, either. I'm glad Connor ended up with Brittany instead of Lindsey.

Brit tiene un gran problema. Su transformación se acerca y ella necesita encontrar un chico que la ayude a atravesarla. Sin embargo, el chico al que quiere, tiene que estar con otra. Es así, que terca e indomable como es, se va sola al bosque para convertirse en lo que siempre ha deseado ser: un lobo. Nadie puede creerse, cuando ella regresa de una pieza después del gran día. Y realmente regresa cambiada, solo que no es el cambio que ella o nosotros, para el caso, nos imaginábamos. Y he ahí el gran dilema. Nuestra protagonista necesitara a alguien en quien pueda confiar, pero ¿lo encontrara antes de que los demás descubran su secreto o podrá encontrar una cura para su problema?

¿Ya dije que Britt no me cae bien? Bueno, pues ni después de terminar de leer Luna Oculta me ha caído bien. No negaré que la novela me gustó, sobre todo porque la autora ha demostrado que sus personajes pueden crecer con cada libro. Los libros de los Guardianes Ocultos pueden leerse por separado, sin embargo, yo recomiendo leerlos todos (solo son 4, 3 de ellos ya en español) para tener una idea general de la historia y conocer mejor a Keyla y Lucas (Luz de Luna) y Lindsey y Rafe (Luna Llena). El atractivo de este libro es saber cómo sigue la historia, porque el malo-malísimo es el mismo que en los libros anteriores. La pareja, sigue sin ser relevante para mí. Connor y Britt simplemente no lograron ganarse mi aprobación. Sentí que era un poco "apresurado" verles juntos. Tampoco hay mucha acción ni tanta ternura-pasión como en el libro anterior.

Con todo, yo realmente sigo recomendando esta serie porque los libros de Rachel Hawthorne me encantan, simple y sencillamente. Y a la espera de que se revele el nombre del último libro de la serie, cuyo protagonista masculino hace aparición aquí. Lo van a amar. (less)

Ay, si esta saga no cambia.
En Luna Oculta nuestra narradora es Brittany, quien durante toda la saga ha tenido sus ojos puestos en Connor, pero él, enamorado de Lindsay, no la ha visto jamás como un interés romántico.

Como siempre esta autora tiene una manera de escribir que hace la lectura muy ágil, amena, rápida y hasta cierto punto ligera.
Este libro continua exactamente donde terminó el anterior y en comparacíon con los otros la relacíon entre los personajes y los momentos románticos son menos sin embargo se siguen disfrutando mucho.

Akhirnya buku ketiga selesai aq baca.

This is the last book in the Dark Guardian series. The author Rachel Hawthorne has ended the series so beautifully and simple. The ending was like a fairy tale. I was so mad when I finished the book, thats how great this series is in my opinion.

I basically EATED this book. Took me one day. Amazing!
I loved Brittany, and felt identified with her in so many aspects. I felt her struggles, and her thoughts about the shapeshifters, because after reading two books from the shapeshifter's POV, reading this one from a human's POV made the book less predictable than the last one. It was the twist that the series needed.
I can't wait to see what happnes with Daniel now, they introduce him in the second book and mention him in this one, but in one...more

The target audience- is for people that love stories about love, loss, horror and of course, werewolves! It's age-group would be around the ages of 12-16, otherwise it might be a bit boring for people above 16 that have probably read more entertaining stories.

The main characters- in this novel are:
Brittany- A young, courageous, bright, on the ball teenage girl who her whole life believe she was one of them, a shifter. So when she doesn't transform on the first full moon from her eighteenth birthday she gets confused and her feelings are pushing her to evil. So when the cold hand of evil reaches out does she take it?
Conor- A charming teen who has stolen Brittany's heart her whole life. When he claims Lindsey as his mate and breaks poor Brittany's heart he has made a mistake and he knows it. Conor is a loyal member of the tribe, a dark Guardian.

The themes- of the book are friendship, loss, love, heart-break and mystery. Brittany's friendship with Conor is strong, her love for him is even stronger. So when he claims Lindsey, she is heart-broken. She is even more heart-broken when she doesn't transform leaving her a human and a mystery. When she is taken with Conor by Mason and trapped in a cage like dogs, her mum and the tribe don't know if they are alive or not, grieving at their loss.

The language- used by the Author is well worded, like a adult is reflecting how they feel, not like Brittany would write it. Rachel has used first person in the story so it's like we are in the moment and are in this experience with Brittany and Conor. The writing can be formal at times but other times directly targets the audience.

The Author- Rachel Hawthorne is an amazing author who wrote so many popular stories, a lot are somehow related to her real life even if its just a little bit about her life, it's in there. She was born is Walford Herts, England but she moved at an early age to Texas. She always wanted to be an author, especially at a really young age when she loved writing and she always wrote in the genre of fantasy. Rachel loves reading, watching T.V., going to the movies and spending hours in the spa. Rachel has received two awards:
An award of excellence and a readers choice award.

Overall this book is an amazing book! I absolutely love it and have already started reading the rest of the series!(less)

This was my second attempt at reading this book. The first time I read the book I couldn't even finish it. Granted I didn't really give it my best go, I got to page 50 and then gave up. Brittany is back after her full moon and all her friends and other shifters are so excited for her, she is the first girl to go through the transformation alone and survive for as long as anyone can remember.
Younger girls are starting to look up to Brittany and realising they now have the option of not choosing a mate, and going through their own transformations by themselves.
But Brittany is hiding a massive secret, she didn't transform. She didn't even feel a little tingle, nothing.
How can she tell anyone that she doesn't belong in this world she was brought up in?

Alongside all the shifting drama Bio-Chrome is back and this time they are bigger and meaner than before.
Mason is determined to create a serum which will give humans the ability to change, and when Brittany and Connor are kidnapped, Brittany is forced to tell Connor the truth, she is human and not a shifter.

I loved this book so much, I think it was my favourite out of the whole series so far!
I loved the romance between Brittany and Connor, especially when they had been kidnapped by Bio-Chrome and locked in the cage. I loved all the tension that had built up between the couple between the events in book two and this one.

Of course we see glimpses of our our favourite shifter girls, Lindsey and Kayla from books one and two.
Now that most of the group have gone through their first transformation it's great to read about them all in wolf form.

This book had a lot more funny moments in it that the previous two, although it is a lot darker and has more story to it that the previous two there are a few moments in there to lighten the mood.
The ending of this book was amazing, for me it tied up all the loose ends and I really don't know what else there is to write about. There is a fourth book in this series but I don't know where that is going to go. For me the story was wrapped up with this book, so I'm excited to see what the next book will bring!(less)

Well, okay. I read this book when I was twelve and even then I remember thinking, 'hell. Rachel Hawthorne really has some fetish for a bad boy.'

I mean really, it was UNBELEIVABLE. It was like Twilight, on the wolfy side of things. Frickin unbelievable. buku k3 ini, dark of the moon, nyeritain ttg brittany, salah satu anggota DARK GUARDIAN yang masih nunggu perubahan pertama kalinya. udah lewat 3 hari sejak ulang tahun Brittany yang k17, nah dia bakal ngadepin bulan purnama pertama dia berumur 17 taon. menurut tradisi shifter, kalau perempuan berubah pertama kali mereka harus didampingi pasangannya buat ngalihin rasa sakit...more oke, dibanding 2 seri sebelumnya, aku suka cover yang ini! buku k3 ini, dark of the moon, nyeritain ttg brittany, salah satu anggota DARK GUARDIAN yang masih nunggu perubahan pertama kalinya. udah lewat 3 hari sejak ulang tahun Brittany yang k17, nah dia bakal ngadepin bulan purnama pertama dia berumur 17 taon. menurut tradisi shifter, kalau perempuan berubah pertama kali mereka harus didampingi pasangannya buat ngalihin rasa sakit yg konon ceritanya sih sakit banget. nah si Brit ini dia ngadepinnya seorang diri, padahal kan menurut sejarahnya shifter kalau kaum perempuan ngadepin sendiri mereka bakalan mati. Brittany ada alasan kenapa dia nggak mau didampingi shifter cowok soalnya satu2nya shifter cowok yang diingininya udah jadi pasangan shifter cewek lain, yaitu Connor, dan di malam yang sama, Connor pasti nemenin perubahan pertama pasangannya itu.

eh ternyata Brittany gak berubah2 pas malam purnama itu, dia malu pulang ke tempat shifter kalau mereka tahu dia nggak berubah, jadinya dia berbohong deh. tapi dia nyeritain rahasianya itu ke 1 orang, Lindsey, sahabatnya sekaligus cewek yang jadi pasangan connor (baca buku fullmoon).
connor ama Lindsey udah gak jadi pasangan lagi sejak malam perubahan Lindsey, karna lindsey suka ke shifter lain, yaitu Rafe. jadinya Brittany punya kesempatan jadi pasangan connor.

tapi, Brittany malah jaga jarak dari Connor, soalnya Connor pasti nggak mau jadi pasangannya kalau tahu dia nggak berubah jadi shifter, atau seperti yang dibilang ibunya, kalau dia manusia.

pas dia lagi gundah gitu, dia ketangkep ama Biochrome, para manusia (a.k.a static = gak bisa berubah) yang berusaha nangkep para shifter supaya mereka bisa berubah. si connor juga ketangkep. waktu mereka ketangkep tu lah connor tahu kalau brittany bukan shifter, dan biochrome jadi tahu kalau para shifter itu beneran ada, soalnya connor berubah jadi shifter gara2 puma dimasukin ke sel mereka.

singkat cerita, para Dark guardian datang nyerbu ke lab biochrome, si Mason (anggota biochrome) berubah jadi setengah manusia setengah makhluk berbulu (gara2 nyuntikin serum darahnya connor ke tubuh dia), trus nyerang connor dan brittany, trus dibunuh brittany. lab biochrome dihancurin, dan anggota yg lainnya kabur.

masalahnya lagi, brittany nggak bisa dunk terus2an jadi dakr guardian soalnya dia bukan shifter, padahal brittany ini sejak kecil cita2nya cuma pengen jadi dark guardian. trus dia diadili di depan tetua dan dark guardian (gara2 insiden biochrome itu org2 udah tahu kalau dia manusia), diadain voting apakah si brittany nih tetep jadi dark guardian. nah kebetulan semua anggota dark guardian temen brittany, jadinya dia tetep deh jadi guardian..

actionnya agak kurang seru sih, masih bagusan action di buku sebelumnya. tapi aku suka romance-nya hehe.
kayaknya nih buku masih ada lanjutannya..(less)

##not my review but explains alot-ish##
it was about Brittany and Connor, and they ended up together! But what I didn't expect was Brittany turned out to be a Static (human)! I actually felt pity for her, she was this loner who although have friends but kept all to herself. She just wanted to fit in, but now even the moon took that away from her, I was very symphathetic when I read that part. I always wanted happy ending, but I knew that she would get it, just not sure how.

She knew who she wanted to go through it with, but he only had eyes for another. She would have to face it alone because she wanted to be a dark guardian and protect the secret of the existence of the pack. But the only secret she ends up protecting in the one where she doesn’t shift. The full moon came and went but she stayed the same. What is wrong with her? Is this why no guys had been drawn to her? Could she fix what was wrong with her? When she returns to find that, Conner, the guy she has felt drawn to forever is finally free to notice her, she realizes that if she ever has a chance with him, he can’t know she isn’t a shifter. But how can she hide this forever? Should she run away? Should she tell him and everyone else the truth? But there is a threat to the pack, she has to help. But without being a shifter, can she really be any help?

My thoughts:
Brittany was a minor character in the first two books in this series. In those books, she was didn’t really open up to anyone. She was lost in her exercise routine and seemed very standoffish. I will admit that when I realized that the next book was centered on her, I wasn’t very excited to read it. But I had loved the first two books and I really enjoy Rachel Hawthorne books, so I read it anyway. I am so glad that I did. What comes out of Brittany’s mouth and what is going on in her head is so different. She uses her comments to protect herself. She feels deeply about Conner and struggles to deal with it. I loved how she was so real. I think it made me realize how much people can be different from what they appear to be to other people. As for Conner, I was very impressed with him. Some people may think that he got over Lindsey too fast and fell too hard for Brittany, but I disagree. The world that Rachel has created in the Dark Guardian books is a world where the male shifter falls hard and fast for a girl he may have been around for a while. When the time is right, it happens. Such is the case for Conner. He had been committed to Lindsey during the first two books but when she chooses Rafe, it’s like Conner woke up.

Of course I loved the world of the Dark Guardians. Shifters that don’t shift the first time until their seventeenth (girls) or eighteenth (boys) birthday and the romance of having the guys help the girls through the experience makes for an exciting romance. The traditions of the pack make it easy to leave some old fashion but exciting customs in place. Love it. The plot of this book was unpredictable. I love it when a book fools me. I am really too good at guessing where a book is going but I didn’t this time. I figured a few things out but enjoyed the ride. I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. I wish all three books came together as one because they really go well together.

To all my firends who believe anything is possible this is the book for you. If you are a stright up, carring, loving, work hard,get to the point person but are still willing to find true love this is for you. In this book Brittany Reed is a novicence perparing to become a Dark Guardian. Only when her full moon comes her dreams are crushed.
