"You can't swing a dead cat at a bridal shower without hitting a straight chick who's slept with another woman, who's thought about it, or who's ready to make the move as soon as someone breaks out the booze."

Such are the incisive pearls of wisdom to be heard from straight chick and girl-on-girl dabbler Jen Sincero, author of The Straight Girl's Guide to Sleeping with Ch

I followed all the tips and suggestions in this book and now I'm a lesbian. No longer a straight girl, I believe this is a one-time-use book. =/

Recommends it for: absolutely nobody.
Totally offensive. Could be called "The Insensitive and Internalized-Homophobia-Plagued Girl's Guide to Treating the People She Sleeps with Badly."

It is the time of year where gifts are exchanged between friends of all levels. There are the "we're not close enough for me to spend too much so here is what I got on sale last year" gifts, the "I didn't know you were getting me anything so here is a bottle of lotion" gift, the "your tastes are completely foreign to me so here is a gift card" gift and then the co-worker gifts. The co-worker gifts range from card to actual gifts. At my firm these gifts are normally bottles of wine, cheesy daily ...more

At first, I found the humor is this book to be a little too broad, a little too sassy-chick-with-an-attitude, while I usually prefer a more sharp, biting sense of humor. Then I realized that any hint of sarcasm would have been detrimental; a lot of straight or bicurious chicks are already primed to be afraid of the topic, but the author's attitude screams "I'm not afraid and you shouldn't be, either!" There is definitely no sense of mockery in this book, which very quickly put me at ease and all ...more

When I picked this book out, I actually thought it was going to have more about how gender roles work in lesbian relationships, how flirting with women might be different from flirting with men, coming out advice, dating tips, etc., but I was completely wrong. This is a sex book, and let's be honest, any girl who picks this book up—much less follows the graphic advice written within—is almost certainly NOT 100% straight. The title of this book is way off; it should really be called The Inexperie ...more

This is the kind of book that, if it were possible to go back in time, I would give to my 17 year old self, as I patiently and calmly explained to her that there was nothing wrong with her, and that she'd end up married to a devilishly handsome guy anyhow, but everything that she is feeling is valid, normal, and frankly, FUN!

Sincero is fun and sassy. Most refreshing is that there's a certain realness to the playfulness that she uses when discussing girl-on-girl sexuality. I suppose I'm saying th

This was a very cute and funny book. I really enjoyed the pictures using barbie dolls as examples. I almost wanted to buy this book and leave it lying around for my husband to read, to give him some good ideas about what else girls like. Some of the ideas about getting girls drunk to improve your chances seem sort of lame to me, but I read this for humor anyway so take it at that.

The Straight Girl's Guide to Sleeping with Chicks

The Straight Girl's Guide to Sleeping With Chicks by Jen Sincero is, as you might guess, a book for women about how to have sex with other women.

From the title and the girly pink cover design, I must admit was initially a little skeptical whether this would turn out to be a quality book. However, my appreciation for the book grew once the author explained in the introduction that her ideal title for the book would be "A Guide for Women Who Usually Have Sexual Relationships with Men and Who Would

I have read this book cover to cover multiple times (that is a complete lie . . . but I've read the "good parts" dozens of times). The author is absolutely hysterical about a subject that could otherwise be just downright creepy for straight girls. She presents some incredibly insightful and easy to follow "instructions" to anyone who is thinking about "going there" but afraid they won't have the faintest idea what to do once they get there.

Be honest with yourself. You wouldn't be reading this r

This book dives deeply into waters unbeknownst to most of us, of different sexual orientations. This book also contradicts what I just said - It is also for the curious and the doubtful. It inspires you to embrace your sexuality and make the most out of the bodies we have and the people we share it with.

The author pen's her own experiences along with breif accounts by other's whom she surveyed for the book, and supplies some humerous yet helpful examples of Barbie in positions with girls along w

Many women, upon seeing the title of this book, are under the mistaken impression that it is a book to help girl stick her toes in girl-girl dating waters, perhaps guide her through the foreign gender role dynamic, and eventually help her land a hot babe. Not so. This book would be better titled, "The inexperienced girls guide to fucking chicks." It skips all the wining and dining and goes straight to what goes on between the sheets -- in exhaustive and enthusiastic detail.

However, once you've g

Written in a casual and moderately amusing manner, I found this book easy to read, informative and entertaining. It could have done with better illustrations and graphics. Also, it is a little dated with its information about sex toys, websites, etc. Otherwise, a good introduction for beginners.

I love the style and humor of this book. It is informative without being dry, and it is just as easy to pick up and flip through as it is to use as a serious how-to. Sincero includes references for everything from porn to dating services to legitimate information resources.

Some of this book was hilarious...some was very enlightening, and I loved the way it dealt with sex on such a frank and matter-of-fact leve. There is so much guilt surrounding the topic of sex, and books like this help to counter all the guilt!

Someone suggested I read this book and I was like, "What, is my game off?" This book was kind of sad and foolish. But it's funny, because I think a lot of women do 80% of the advice given but licking another chick's kitty is like the deal breaker or something.

Probably would've been more useful to read books like this when I was in my teens so I'd be more comfortable with sex, but hey, never too late.

So far, this book is hilarious, very informative, and sheds a lot of light on why many women who usually sleep with men are attracted to other women.
