A Perfect Storm is the fourth book in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series and, if you’ve read the first three books, you know the nightmare that Arizona Storm survived. Well, she’s back with a vengeance and she’s going to make sure that no one else has to live through the hell that she did.

Spencer Lark knows what Arizona suffered at the hands of the human traffickers, and so despite his attraction to her, he keeps her at arm’s length… until she shows up at his place looking for help taking down a local trafficking operation. Spencer doesn’t have much of a choice because, with or without him, she’s going in, and he’s not about to let her go in alone.

With A Perfect Storm, Lori Foster tackled a difficult subject and handled with the compassion and respect women who have suffered as Arizona did are so deserving of. While we didn’t get a lot of the details about what happened during her captivity, we were given a close look into Arizona’s heart and soul, and saw how deeply she was affected. And though she has every right to be frightened or timid, she’s anything but! Her actions, her fears, her demeanor… who's to say how a woman in her shoes should or should not act? But wow, her strength, her integrity… her refusal to allow herself to remain a victim, made this not merely an emotional read, but an inspiring one.

And the men… those hot, sexy, alpha males. Spencer, Dare, Trace, and Jackson… I thought they were great before, but now? I absolutely, without a doubt, adore them... and not just for the men they are, but for the woman they accepted, and encouraged Arizona to be; herself.

The bottom line – This isn’t your typical romantic suspense. Oh, it’s a very passionate, sexy read, but more than that, A Perfect Storm is powerful, heartbreaking, inspiring… an emotional roller coaster… but in the end, one of the most wonderful romances I’ve ever read. It’s not sweetly poetic or all sunshine and happiness, but sometimes, for some people, real life doesn’t give them that. So why is this love story so special? Because Spencer and Arizona earned it. Through their blood, their tears, their honesty and faith… without even realizing they were doing it, they fought for a chance at love with everything they had in them – and that is what makes their happily ever after so beautiful.

Good Gawd, was there anything I didn't like about this book? Nope, not really.
Lori Foster has met all my high expectations for this book.

I loved Spencer and Arizona so much. I didn't expect to love a heroine as much as I did. She totally kicked ass and took names. Seriously awesome. Oh, and it was sex-ay. Heh.

I loved this book and thought it deserved it's 5 star rating!

We met Spencer & Arizona at the end of Jackson & Alani's story. Arizona didn't have the best of upbringings and then at the age of 17 she was sold to a human trafficking ring by her father as he needed money for drink/drugs. After enduring a couple of months of sexual abuse she managed to escape but was caught again and they nearly killed her but was saved by Jackson (Hero from previous book). Jackson treated her like a younger sister and over the next few years helped her to sort her life out and paid for her to attend school to get a decent education.

After such a harrowing ordeal most young women would have crumbled but Arizona was determined that she would not live her life as a victim and she would do whatever she could to ensure that others did not suffer what she had gone through. She had tracked a suspected ring of traffickers but realised that she needed help so turns to Spencer. Spencer is a bounty hunter and is obviously used to tracking and taking down scumbags and soon realised that with or without his help Arizona was going to go ahead with her plan. Spencer is a widower as his wife was murdered several years before. For the first time since he lost his wife he truely finds himself drawn to another woman but despite convincing himself that he still loved his dead wife and that she was far too young for him he couldn't stop the attraction. Together and with help from our other 3 heroes - Dare, Trace & Jackson they successfully take out the trafficking ring. By the end Spencer obviously realises that he loves Arizona and cannot let her go and Arizona feels the same.

I thought that Arizona was amazing. She was strong and determined and came across as a tough cookie but at times we saw vulnerabilities and signs of her trauma which made her character believable. I really liked Spencer too, because he had known what she had gone through he understood those vulnerabilities and was careful with her and taught her to trust again and be able to have a 'normal' physical relationship. I am pleased to say that we also got to see a fair amount of other characters in the series - Dare & Molly, Trace & Priss, Jackson & Alani and of course Chris.

I really like Lori Foster's style of writing and have read her books for a good few years and will continue to do so. This has been an amazing series and I can only hope that there is more to come!

Later, Arizona, now 21, breaks into Spencer Lark's home while he is sleeping He wakes to find her in his bedroom watching him sleep. Arizona has a proposition for Spencer. She has been investigating a bar and grill that she believes is heavily involved with the trafficking of humans and she wants to shut them down, and she needs Spencer's help, without Jackson finding out what she is up to. Spencer, knowing the danger Arizona will be putting herself in makes an agreement with Arizona and in a round about way includes Jackson and the other men with this task.

Spencer's attraction to the beautiful Arizona is obvious, but he keeps pushing it aside with the excuse that Arizona is too young for him. He also uses the fact that he lost his wife to the same human trafficking organization three years prior as a big stumbling block to move on. Out of everyone Arizona knows, Spencer is the only one who truly understands her issues and her motivations. With Spencer's sense of humor and understanding of Arizona, she begins to come out of her emotional shell and experience feelings a normal young female should feel. Spencer is also in awe of Arizona's strength and determination to squash these human traffickers while coming into her own.

I have to say it, this was my favorite book in the series so far. First I love Arizona. She is gritty and honest while at the same time completely vulnerable. Spencer and Arizona have this steamy chemistry throughout that just makes for an amazing ride. Both characters, come together so well to overcome their pasts. Lori Foster has such a way of making a couple just mesh that I am in awe of her. An awesome MUST read!!!

Another huge hit for me with this last installment of the series! I know everyone is swooning over Spencer, but what made this book so great for me was hands down Arizona. I had really high expectations for the conclusion of the series, and Foster didn't disappoint me in the least. The only thing I wanted that I didn't get in the end, was the name of Alani and Jackson's baby! lol I don't know why it mattered to me not knowing the name, but it did!

“A Perfect Storm” by Lori Foster is the latest in her enjoyable series about the mercenaries (Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor) who have taken on those who perpetrate the heinous crimes of sex trafficking. Arizona is a young woman who was rescued from one such horrible situation by Jackson Savor but has never really had a normal life. She has been gathered into the family consisting of Jackson, his partners and their respective mates but still feels the burning need to avenge herself as well free other victims caught in the same horrific trap. Spencer Lark is a bounty hunter who has crossed paths with the tight-knit group and Arizona feels that he stole her revenge away when he dealt with the woman in charge of one of the horrible organizations. Spencer is startled to discover that the emotionally damaged young woman has blossomed into an adult who has honed her skills with all manner of lethal weapons but hasn’t quite healed from the damages to her psyche. His protective instincts war with his attraction to the female that he feels is too young and fragile for his own self-protective style of personal relationships. Spencer has his own demons to fight and scars of his own to deal with but Arizona just might force them to find a way to heal each other even as they search for a comfortable working relationship with Jackson and and his colleagues.

A great addition to a very entertaining series about extremely competent mercenary men who have made it their mission to free as many victims and destroy as many sex and forced labor trafficking rings as possible. Arizona is an enchanting mixture of competent self-confident fighter (I thought I had a lot of things necessary for being prepared in my car trunk!) and insecure damaged former victim. Spencer is a rough-edged protector who wants to compensate for some of the horrors that she has experienced yet has his own issues, not least of which is dealing with Arizona’s self-appointed guardian and colleagues. A testament to the healing power of taking action to combat or eliminate past traumas and the importance of a good support group. A sizzling and heart-warming read that also gives cameos of favorites from the previous stories in the series (2- and 4-footed) while drawing a beautiful portrait of courage.(less)

Arizona doesn’t understand the incessant curiosity that won’t be tamed when it comes to Spencer. She never thought she’s be able to overcome her aversion to men after what she was put through in the past at the hands of the most evil of the evil. She’s perfectly capable of taking care of herself. She won’t be changing herself for Spencer. For anyone.
When the human traffickers set their sights on Arizona once again Spencer will stop at nothing to keep her safe. Even if he has to lock her away till the job is done. Problem is, Arizona has other plans. Like using herself has some very delectable bait.

A Perfect Storm is Lori’s 4th book in her Men Who Walk The Edge Of Honor series…and I have been waiting FOREVER to get my hands on it! I really enjoy this series and Lori’s writing is impeccable.
Arizona was a tough character to get to know. She’s completely closed off because of her past with human traffickers. She’s severely stunted towards human emotion and even though she hides it behind a tough facade, is incredibly vulnerable and fragile. Though if you called her that you better watch your back. Her fascination with Spencer quickly seemed to overtake her brittle personality and she became quite inquisitive. To the point that sometimes she came across childish. Which in return made it hard to see her and Spencer together. She had every right to behave the way she did because of her past but it was just difficult to see her having a normal-ish relationship. I did appreciate all the restrain Spencer took with her in regards to her hang ups and personality snafus. He made a lot of remarks on not wanting to take advantage of her and I found that noble on his part. Even though just looking at her gave him wood that even the best ax couldn’t chop down.
For his part Spencer was an exceptionally moral man who could also take down pretty much any person he wanted. He is flawed though because he can’t let go and move past the death of his wife several years earlier. Spencer and Arizona fit well together in the respect that neither were truly living when they met. They both went through the motions, sure, but their hearts had died a long with their dreams. Spencer spends half the book annoyed by Arizona while she spends the same half trying to figure out what it is about him that has her so intrigued.
Arizona has a weird relationship with Jackson (the man who saved her) that always left me kind of shaking my head. Jackson spends a crap ton of money on her because he considers her family. She doesn’t want anything to do with it yet secretly seems to enjoy the attention even though she has no idea how to respond to it. Offering him sex and being turned down left her in a lurch in knowing how to deal with him. I totally understood why Spencer had reservations about her explanation of the relationship. Though at times I thought Arizona handled herself quite nicely even though Spencer treated her akin to a child.
I really enjoy the human trafficking story line. Lord, that sounds bad, even to me LOL. But I do. You know, in a book. It makes for a suspenseful and truly devious villain. One with meat that I can believe in. I love how there are always a few twists I didn’t see coming. There is always plenty of action and some covert ops going down. This is definitely one book/series you won’t get bored reading.
We also get to catch up with the past characters. I especially enjoy Chris. Dare’s assistant and good friend. He also seems to be the “go to” guy in these books and his appearance always makes me smile. He has wisdom beyond his years an a knack of making even the most fragile people feel warm and comforted. I really hope he gets his own happiness someday. It seems a shame that he is on his own still…though he swears he’s totally okay with it. Think of him as the Yoda of this series!
A Perfect Storm is an intense whirlwind of a romantic suspense. Fly by the seat of your pants action that won’t let you down. Hot women, even hotter men and a storm that might just break down the walls surrounding Spencer and Arizona’s hearts.

I have followed this series faithfully since When You Dare was released and it fast became one of my favorite romantic suspense series!

All male, absolutely alpha, and his need to help others just adds to his overall sex appeal. After losing his wife, Spencer is a protector and when he meets Arizona he recognizes a lost soul in need of rescuing. Arizona Storm has faced a lot in her young life but instead of letting it wear her down she has turned her experience into a weapon, one she uses fight for those who may not have the ability to protect themselves. But to take down the one person who haunts her nightmare, Arizona needs help.
Together, Arizona and Spencer set off on a dangerous game of cat and mouse. They each may have their own reasons for wanting to take down the human trafficking ring but together find more than just a common ground, they find an undeniable passion that just might prove more dangerous to them then their enemies.

As with the rest of the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series, I loved this book and couldn't out it down!
Arizona is a tough nut to crack, with a thick shell and sometimes even a thicker head; she got under my skin often. But then that hard exterior just crumbled; it happened so fast my head was spinning and that vulnerability she abruptly showed didn’t seem to jive with her character. However, she could still very much kick butt! A lot of this new side to Arizona had to do with Spencer who is very much a swoon-worthy hero. She ventures into new territory with her feelings for him and it’s terrifying for her. But as Spencer helps her heal, he finds that she is healing him as well when he didn’t even realize that he needed healing. Each must face their own inner demons if they hope find a future in each other’s arms. I love Lori Foster’s voice, you really can’t go wrong with a book from this fabulous author and I believe that this series stands out above the rest. With a fast-paced plot, intriguing characters, intense situations and nail-biting action, A Perfect Storm was a great addition to the series. While I can’t say that it was my favorite book in the series it was an enjoyable read that shouldn’t be missed.

A Perfect Storm can be read as a stand-alone but why miss any of the deliciousness that the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series has to offer? This is one series that you’ll be kicking yourself in the butt over if you miss any of it! (less)

ok, A Perfect Storm lost its 5 star status because of a couple of things.
1) I think the story would have been a little easier to swallow between Arizona and Spencer had Arizona not been SO young.
2) She went thru a HUGE ordeal (not giving anything else away) yet a mere 3 years later she's on her game and really actually well put together in the head. Not buying it too much
3) Um, why exactly were she and Alani NOT confidants in this book...if you read the books you'll understand why I'm asking......more

Another great story by Lori. This is about a Man, Spencer Lark the bounty hunter, and a young woman, Arizona Storm.

Spencer reluctantly allows Arizona to be a decoy in an attempt to bring down a smuggling ring. Knowing so much about her tragic past, his protective instinct, and the attraction that is stirring in him makes it very difficult to allow her this.

Augusta had many issues after being abused in human trafficking. She was wary of all men and unable to trust them. Spencer saw her for the wounded soul she was and even though he wanted her something fierce, he gave himself multiple reasons why she couldn't be his. The only trouble with that was it didn't curb his desire for her…and Augusta was only becoming more curious about Spencer and his toned body.

Toughness overload!

I know when I open a book by Lori Foster, I'm in for a treat. This book met my expectations. It's hot, sweet and packed with action. The writing is tight and kept me in my seat. Yeah, I stayed up late to finish the book because I couldn't put it down.

I have not read any other books by Lori Foster, so this was my first taste of The Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series, and I must admit, I quite enjoyed it! There are four books that precede A Perfect Storm: The Guy Next Door, When You Dare, Trace of Fever, and Savor the Danger, but I found the fifth in the series to be more of a stand-alone volume. (Not that reading the rest would hurt!) This book packs a lot of punch - fast-paced action, page-turning suspense, a heated romance, and a touch of wit; not to mention a cast of complex characters determined to take down a human trafficking ring. I was captivated by the plot-line from page one! What an intense story - for both the character backgrounds, as well as the case(s) being investigated. Human trafficking is a difficult topic to discuss, and Lori Foster makes an impression on her readers. I was taken aback by the detail / shock-factor found throughout the book; it made the case and the characters seem more real to me. I loved strong-willed and protective Spencer, he was by far my favorite character - I could definitely read another book about him. On the other hand, there was Arizona - her history certainly made her character interesting, but I was distracted by her immature and petty actions. I understand that she is young and "tortured" to begin with, however, I feel like her attitude takes away from the book. It is hard to see how Spencer and Arizona would actually work together (as partners or romantically) because they seem so mismatched age and personality wise. Separate, they are tolerable - even enjoyable - but together they are unrealistic for me. I really liked the ending, especially the parts I didn't expect - (no spoilers!) - my only gripe is that this is the final book in the series. I will have to read the previous books ASAP to learn more about the other characters, particularly Chris, Jackson, Trace and Dare, who I would love to know more about. Overall, I rather enjoyed the story, minus the few details mentioned above, and will definitely read more by Lori Foster. Recommended for romance enthusiasts who like a series with some attitude - and some hot men in uniform!

While you might have been able to read the previous books (When You Dare, Trace of Fever, and Savor the Danger) stand-alone it is my opinion that you ought to read them before you read this.

I have to admit I wasn’t looking forward to the Lori Foster’s release of A Perfect Storm. You see, I knew this was the last book in her Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series and I really was not prepared for it to end. Throughout this series Lori has given us hunky, kick-ass, alpha males that you can’t help but love. In addition she’s given us heroines who have been abused mentally and physically, yet they still have spunk, drive, and know their own minds. Add in an assistant, Chris, that each of would kill to have in our lives, terrific dialog, a hope that there are people like them out there busting up human trafficking rings, and you have one terrific series.

Arizona Storm meets Spencer Lark in book 3 of this series during a bar fight. Their paths cross a few more times in that story and this book starts about a month after their initial meeting. Both of these characters are strong, capable, and have experienced some trauma in their lives. There is more I want to say, but I can’t without spoilers and I don’t want to do that to anyone.

Spencer is an alpha male to the max. He’s large and in charge but for Arizona he backs off and tends to let her set the pace. I love how easily he’s able to figure out Arizona because she is a complicated woman. He’s so honorable and works hard to help Arizona overcome a lot in their time together. Mainly I love the patience he shows both with Arizona and his somewhat stalkerish neighbor, Marla.

Arizona, I seriously don’t know where to start with her. I admire her character so much. Despite everything she’s endured in her life, she is one amazing lady. She refuses to dwell on her past, she’s independent (almost to a fault), honest, won’t accept pity from anyone, and she’s tough. She is a great judge of character as evident when she meets the aforementioned Marla. In spite of her past once she meets Spencer she realizes that she wants more from life.

The majority of this story is wrapped around the relationship between Arizona and Spencer. Yes, there is some action in this book but not as much as the others. For the most part, I didn’t feel the “threat” that I felt in the other books, but that was okay by me. These characters and their story needed to be told differently because they are truly special people. There are some really great scenes with all of the characters from the previous books including one hilarious scene in which Arizona presents herself dressed to go out to catch some scumbags and the guys all freak out. Seriously, laugh out loud funny! But, I truly love the birthday party scene in which Chris plays a HUGE part in making everyone understand Arizona’s psyche better. Chris is such an amazing guy and he deserves his happily ever after. I’m sad that Lori has no plans to write his story because I have no doubt it would be remarkable.

For me A Perfect Storm is sincerely a PERFECT ending to this series! I have loved this series and waited not so patiently for each new release, but this one is by far my favorite. Arizona and Spencer are one special couple and I am so happy they found each other! Thank you Lori for giving us a these wonderful characters and for making your readers aware of how human trafficking is everywhere and that it affects us all.

I adore Spencer's character. He's super sexy in every way, and he's in love with Arizona from the start. Though, honestly, I wanted to pop him in his head more than once. Grrr! He was blind when it came to his feelings for Arizona. He's still in love with his wife, but there is definitely something going on when Arizona is around. He blames age for not wanting to take a chance. After all, he's 11 years older than her 21 years. But, he can't deny the need to fiercely protect the amazingly stunning beauty from all that she's dealt with.

Arizona's a character who steals your heart just from what she had to endure as a teenager. Sold into a human trafficking ring by her father, all she knows is men who use and abuse. She's left for dead by her captors, until her saving grace, Jackson, rescues her. Now, all she can think about is helping others who are in the situation she was once in. So, she enlists the help of Spencer, the sexy, gorgeous man who sought revenge on his wife's killer when Jackson rescued Arizona. There's just one problem. She can't deny what she feels for this incredibly kind, passionate man, and she wants nothing more than to trust him. But she's not sure she can get past her storm and move forward with him.

Together these two amazing characters, who fit together like puzzle pieces, embark on a rough, intense case of busting the smugglers. As their journey progresses with ploys and action, the reader is taken along side them, feeling every incredible piece of the story.

I can most definitely say that I recommend this with beyond 5 Books and two thumbs. It's definitely on my shelf to stay forever. From roller coaster twists, to hot, passionate romance, this story is one of the best I've read in along time. While this is book 4 in the series, this book is easily read as a stand alone title. Ms. Foster does a fantastic job at keeping the reader up to date with everyone and all the events that you feel like you've been a part of the story from the start. I can't wait to go back and get my hands on all the other drool worthy installments to the Men Who Walk The Edge Of Honor series. Rock on, Ms. Foster!
