Fun, hot, erotica with zombies (ok "Steins" as in Frankensteins..loved the play on words). Of course I'd love it. Had a great twist for the storyline.

Another reviewer described this as "high tech zombies" and really, that is the perfect description. But, there is not only high tech zombies but also other high tech characters.

I have conflicted feelings about this book. I love this world and the concept but the romance made me uneasy. But let’s start with the good stuff.

I hate to use the word zombie, because so many people hear the “Z” word and run screaming the other way. In this world, the bad guys work for Synaviv, a company that takes dead people, and reanimates them. They program them with computers, and can make them learn as much or as little as they want. They do have certain needs to stay alive and they also...more I have conflicted feelings about this book. I love this world and the concept but the romance made me uneasy. But let’s start with the good stuff.

I hate to use the word zombie, because so many people hear the “Z” word and run screaming the other way. In this world, the bad guys work for Synaviv, a company that takes dead people, and reanimates them. They program them with computers, and can make them learn as much or as little as they want. They do have certain needs to stay alive and they also can be controlled by their maker.

Josie is reanimated to become a wife to Adam, a scientist. He programmed her to crave a person’s touch, and if she doesn’t receive it then she slowly dies. She is with him until Bane Connor shows up. An assassin, he works for the Zombie Underground who work against Synaviv. He kills their people, and rescues the zombies that have been created, of which he was one of them. He takes these rescued zombies back to the Zombie Underground where they usually reset their memories and clear all of their programming, allowing them to then lead a “normal” life.

I love the idea of this book. Quite short, I could have spent many more pages in this world. I actually think a more in-depth look into Synaviv and the Zombie Underground would have been much more beneficial. Bane is a nice alpha who is ready to have his own memories reset so he forget all the killing he has done, but becomes conflicted after he meets Josie. All Josie knows is Adam, so when she is taken by Bane, even though for her own good, it is a new environment for her. She is not programmed to know much outside of being a wife, so she is quite lost at the beginning.

And now moving into what I didn’t love about this book. Josie needs skin to skin touch to stay alive in her undead form. From the first time he sees her through a window while she takes a bath and he starts touching himself while watching her. He calls himself a pervert and he has guilt – well yeah. That is a little skeevy. And then once he does retrieve her, they are left on their own for a few days until they can get rescued. Again, he knows she needs skin to skin contact – but that doesn’t necessarily mean she needs sex. Her creator programmed her like this so that she would need touch, from him, and his sick ways. But very soon after they have this discussion, Josie is curious about sex and some visions she is able to see in his head and Bane follows through with this. He encourages her to touch him and give him a blow job. It felt like he was taking advantage of her. I get she is programmed for this – but she is PROGRAMMED for this. Kind of came across as skeevy rather than sexy to me.

So, take out how the romance started, I like this book. I’m glad Bane and Josie get a HEA, I just didn’t love the romance road we take to get there. But I would love to revisit this world with a different hero and heroine.

Lust after Death by Daisy Harris was my first book by this author and also my first Ellora’s Cave book. On both counts I can absolutely say that it will not be my last. Lust after Death comes in just under 100 pages so it is a relatively fast read, so if you read a lot you may find this a perfect choice for an in between books read. I loved this book and once I started it I could NOT put it down. (never a bad complaint)

Oh, guys. OH, GUYS! I swear to you that this book was written expressly for me! There are zombie-type folk who fall in love and have dirty, dirty sex while being hunted down by a nefarious evil corporation. BLISS! Did I mention the part about the dirty sexin'? That was niiiiiice.

This book is a very quick read which I enjoyed very much. To be honest I haven't read any books with Zombies as the main paranormal character and I found it quite refreshing and nice change a pace.

Bane is an assassin sent to rescue Josie and bring her to the Zombie Underground to be reprogrammed. Josie is a newly made zombie – created to become a wife to a scientist named Adam. The zombies in this story are all programmed differently – depending on what characteristics the maker wants. I've never really been drawn to zombie books, but I really enjoyed this one. There was no gory brain-eating moments. Well, there was a meal involved, but it was briefly mentioned and we don't know exactly what was eaten. And probably don't want to know.

Lust After Death is probably the most unique paranormal type stories I've read. I'm not big on Zombies but this story had an interesting twist with the Zombie Underground. Oh and there's hot zombie sex too! Don't worry nothing falls off! Tee hee!

These aren't your typical Zombies though, they are Steins, as Harris calls them. The steins are brought back to life and are programed.

Josie has recently woken to discover that her creator (horny mad scientist) wants a bride. She doesn’t like him. She hates the thoughts and images that he makes her see mentally between their mental connection. Josie does however find that she likes to watch the man who is attempting to secretly watch her. She notices Bane while he is keeping surveillance on the house she is trapped in. This is Bane’s final mission with his current memories and programming. He wants this mission completed so that he can get a complete memory wipe and start fresh. He has been made aware of the programming issues with Josie. The issue that makes her HAVE to have physical contact with her “husband” specifically. He knows that the selfish scientist that made her left her naïve to many things. Bane is so caring. I loved how this rough and tough fighter was gentle with Josie’s feeling and he tried to be as informative to her as possible while still being delicate about her lack of knowledge on most things.

There are so many wonder aspects in Lust After Death. Josie’s naivetés brings humor. Banes reaction to Josie’s naivetés brings even more humor. He really tries to be gentlemanly with her, but her curiosity does not allow it. Multiple different factions pursuing both Josie and Bane add for plenty of action. The romance was hot. Josie’s required neural feedback gave her and Bane an opportunity for them to have an incredibly strong connection to each other. Of course there are also the erotically hot sex scenes. The combination of Daisy Harris and Ellora’s Cave shouts that this is going to be one erotically written book. I loved the chemistry Bane and Josie had. They made a great couple to follow along in this very unique zombie romance.

Beyond watching Resident Evil movies, I never cared much for zombies. Lack of interest, really. I always felt that once you looked past the shuffling mob of flesh-eating corpses, there wasn't a whole lot of potential. A dead-end theme, if you'll forgive the pun. So I haven't been engaged with the latest trend of books, comics, and movies. Zombies are the new vampires, dontcha know.

Then I came across this title from Daisy Harris's "Love-Bots" series. It was a lark, really. Read it just so I can...more Beyond watching Resident Evil movies, I never cared much for zombies. Then I came across this title from Daisy Harris's "Love-Bots" series. It was a lark, really. Read it just so I can say I did, I thought. However, Lust After Death has opened my eyes up to the potential of this subgenre, and I just may have to get on the bandwagon.

The book opens with Josie, a recently made zombie bride. Her former life is a lost memory, as is everything she knew before she was recreated to be a man's illicit companion. Now all she knows is her "husband" and the island home where he keeps her secluded from the world.

Enter Bane Conner. He, too, is a zombie -- or stein, as they are called. He was created to be an assassin and a soldier. The blood on his hands was never by choice, and now he works for an underground organizations that rescue steins from their forced existences. He was sent to save Josie from her captor. He was supposed to bring her to safety and help her build a new life. He wasn't supposed to fall for her.

Soon they're on the run from people that would force them back into servitude. Bane must protect Josie while, at the same time, protecting his heart from emotions he's not prepared to face.

This book was instantly interesting and held my attention from the very start to the very end. The first thing that struck me was how I got an immediate sense of the characters -- the captive heroine who may be helpless but isn't a dumb damsel. The hostile hero who's driven to save the world even though his weary soul just wants to rest. I found it to be a lovely and appealing pairing. But what I liked most about this book was the world Harris created. It was fresh and creative, yet reminiscent of some of my favorite PNR authors like Gena Showalter and Laurann Dohner.

And now the big question: can zombies really be sexy?

Well, apparently so. Especially since Daisy Harris spares us from the rotting flesh, rigor mortis, and drooling that one usually expects from the undead. Her zombies are not unlike cyborgs, programmed pseudo-humans caught between life and unlife. There was still some flesh-eating, which I thought was a nice touch. And Harris doesn't run from the fact that her characters are unnaturally reanimated bodies. But with no rotting, no shuffling limbs... You get the edge without the ick. So, success! I read about zombies getting it on without Getting squicked out! A new milestone.

I'll admit that this book wasn't a hole in one. A couple of issues did stand out to me. Josie, for instance, was a stumbling block here and there. Written to have a near-adolescent perspective, she wasn't always the most accessible character. Bane, in contrast, came through more tangibly; his character and actions were more nuanced, more complete, and easier to connect to. In addition, there were one or two narrative rough patches where the action didn't progress cleanly. Nothing that impedes the reading flow for more than a second.

Overall, this book is delicious fun. A dash of action, a touch of angst, a strong dose of sex... It's the perfect recipe for a good read. So, while I won't promise to be an instant convert, I'll give the zombie craze another look.(less)

The fact that it was a zombie romance kinda of shied me away at first. I mean how sexy can necromancy be anyway? Heh. Well, I was wrong. Besides Daisy’s zombies aren’t exactly what you would think of when picturing a typical zombie anyway. These were people who have died and have been brought back by way of computer. They can network and mainframe and all kinds of other geeky shit with each other. They still have feelings and memories if their hard drives haven’t been wiped clean. Can you imagine being hooked up to Google though? All the stuff you could learn in an instant? The possibilities are completely endless. There are draw backs though…as there always are. Nothing comes without a price as they say. These zombies can have systems wrote so they have to obey, need certain things to survive or have to do certain things against their will.

This is the case with Josie. She was reanimated for the sole purpose of being a mad scientists wife. She needed physical touch in order to survive and had to obey her “husband” against her will if he choose to do so. Being reanimated without the proper programming also meant she didn’t quite know how to do things, words to use, or ways to express herself.

Bane just wanted to get in, grab the new “stein” and get out so he can be reprogrammed without the mind numbing memories of being a hard ass assassin. Networking with Josie to keep her functioning though wasn’t what he expected. Her “newness” and fascination with everyday things makes him laugh and feel alive in a way he hasn’t felt in a long time. I loved how she seemed to just connect to him, unlike how she fought her first creator. Even before they networked it was like she could tell she fit in with him…regardless of how he felt about the how thing.

There were many funny moments throughout the book that had me giggling at my desk at work. Josie just saw things through new eyes, she was experimental and after the initial shock of certain things, unabashedly eager. Bane, while on one hand was a killing machine, had this gentle touch about him that just rocked my world. Daisy has a way of writing love scenes that often leaving me thinking these people are either ambidextrous or have extra arms that are spouting out of their bodies. There is just no way I could pull off some of those moves. Stealthy and coordinated.

Lust After Death was an EXCELLENT read….loved it! Daisy Harris is my favorite go-to erotic author!

I will be very honest here, it took me awhile to adjust to the thought of zombie romance. There's just something about re-animated people complete with computerized programing that was very different for me. Since I haven't read many zombie novels before, this was very new for me. With that said, I came to like the characters. I immediately liked Bane, he is a typical tough guy, but he softened with his emotion over Josie. Josie, I felt for the poor zombie, she had only 1 purpose, to be a bride, and she had minimal knowledge or programing. However, Josie learned fast and she slowly began to trust Bane. The relationship between Josie and Bane is very sweet, and they both have to live and learn to be together.

The zombie world in Lust After Death was interesting. There are rival groups of zombie units. Bane belongs with the Zombie Underground which helps rescue and reprogram zombies. The rival zombie group seems to just create zombies for the highest bidder, and they don't give too much thought to morality. I was a bit confused as to the rival zombie group's leader, she was an interesting character for sure, but I couldn't quite figure her out.

Even though there are zombies and danger, Lust After Death is really quite a sweet, charming love story. I really enjoyed reading Lust After Death, and fans of paranormal romance and zombies will enjoy this book as well.

This stein has been made illegally by a slightly bonkers scientist. Now he has to rescue Josie, with no knowledge of her prior programming, before she is detained by the only legal stein company in the state. As time goes on, he realises how twisted her creator was as the coding reveals that she needs to have mental and physical feedback from a “husband”; this means if she doesn’t get touched by a man she will start to degrade. It also means that she needs a constant mental link to Bane. He doesn’t like being attached to the newbie stein especially as the side effect of this link is that she can now see into the dark recesses of his memories. Bane usually hates being stuck with other bots for any lengths of time but for some reason this one stirs things in him that he can’t deny. With his attraction for her growing, giving her the sensual contact that she needs doesn’t seem to be a bad thing. Problem is the constant mental contact is creating feelings other than just lust. He knows that when they are both wiped they won’t remember each other. He has always dreamed of getting rid of the bad dreams but will he consider keeping them for her?

I’ve never read a zombie romance before, but I will be reading more after this little book. The stereotypical undead monster is gone and in his place is a sub-race of people that have to struggle daily with discrimination. These zombies still eat organs, but the innards and brains are mainly from animals. They don’t age, they can live forever and the little chip in their head can turn them into any “lifers” fantasy. To be honest, the concept was fabulous, but the situation surrounding their creation was distasteful. These bots are created to be either living sex dolls or mindless killing machines. They can be trapped inside their own heads with a simple command and then their creator can make them do just about anything. Bane was created to kill others by faceless cowards. Josie was created to be a “wife” for a creepy bugger, who obviously couldn’t get a live girlfriend himself, making her sexual responses to Bane quite frightening for her. When it turns out she actually NEEDS sexual contact to survive, I wanted to smack that creepy bastard scientist. I was a bit icked out by the thought of Bane and Josie having to have sex because of her needs, but it helped me to think that they were blatantly attracted to each other. The sex scenes are smoking hot by the way...I do like the way Daisy Harris writes sex. This isn’t erotica; its erotic romance, therefore the story takes precedence over the smexing, but I looked forward to the sex scenes.

The story is only 90 pages long but it manages to pack a lot of story into that length. At the beginning of the story, Josie is a newborn in terms of her life experiences and memories. It contrasts sharply with the very adult urges that she has been programmed with and I think this made me more uncomfortable. By the end of the book, she has accepted what she wants/needs and accepted Bane. She can be quite the little manipulator when she puts her mind to it; I loved her and truly enjoyed how she gets her own way. Bane starts the book hating himself and, with the help of the lovely Josie, tries to accept that his past in his past. He is a lovely little hottie and his protective instincts are really quite endearing. As a couple, I feel they worked well. Their shared traumatic experiences with “lifers” gave them a solid foundation and they just built on that. I never doubted that they would have a HEA; they are fabulous together.

A dark and sexy read set in a fabulous reality. I enjoyed the variation on the traditional zombie story and I’ll happily read more books in this series. I loved Bane and Josie as they are quite possibly the most well suited couple I’ve ever read about! I don’t think I’ll ever look at a zombie quite the same again..:)

When someone says zombie smut, it's not surprising that the idea might raise a few eyebrows. But I have to say that Lust After Death not only is a fun, smart read, but it's sexy as hell. Ms. Harris is brilliant with her use of Frankenstein imagery (the zombies are called steins and the leader of the underground is Frank LOL!)

So first of all, I don't read many books with girl bits nowadays. They tend to be ripe with overused romance tropes and boring sex. I picked this up because the premise caught my attention and it was free somewhere. I'm glad I stumbled over that free period, because otherwise I wouldn't have tried Daisy Harris, and I'd be missing something wonderful.

Josie is a fledgling zombie, created by, yes, a mad scientist named Adam, to respond to physical contact and be his new bride. Assassin Bane Connor, also a zombie, is on a mission to rescue Josie from her creator and bring her to Zombie Underworld, a safe haven for steins (zombies) that helps them lead a normal life. This last mission means a new start for Bane who is to undergo a procedure that will reset his memories and erase his old ones, in the hopes of leaving his dark past behind. What Bane never planned on was falling for the "zombie bride" he was charged with protecting and after spending time with Josie he begins to question if in erasing his past he risks robbing himself of a future of happiness.

I'm pretty new to the world of zombies in books but this one took my by surprise and delivered! The world Ms. Harris has created is a little sci-fi mixed with paranormal and zombies have never been hotter. Josie is a fun protagonist that captures you with her sugar and spice personality and innocence. Bane is the strong, alpha hero that has a soft spot and makes you forget he is also "undead." The relationship between the two characters is speedy but sweet and the intimacy they have goes beyond the sexual which made their romance even hotter!

Lust After Death is a fun and sexy read. The main characters are well developed for a novella and are very engaging. While there's an element of suspense, the story line focuses more on the main characters and their developing relationship rather than on their paranormal world. If you're looking for brain eating, slow moving zombies with missing body parts you won't find them here, steins are not that different from humans and are reanimated corpses not mindless beings digging themselves out of graveyards in search of food. Fan of zombies or not, Daisy Harris has written a sexy paranormal coupling in Josie and Bane that will have you seeing zombies in a totally new light and craving more...brains...errr, I mean stories!

First off, I'm not a zombie person in books...especially when the hero and heroine are zombies. I just have that picture of decomposing bodies, shuffling gaits and moaning--and not in a good way. But Daisy Hill proved me wrong and dlid the impossible for me. I loved both the heroine and hero. The plot was so solid and the world well built. I believed. And I'm so glad I picked this book up!

Very fun story! I'm not much of a "Zombie" girl. They just don't grab me, especially if someone is suggesting sexy Zombies. But Daisy has a great concept here - reanimated people who are programmed to be slaves. They are "non-icky" Zombies. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this world, STUDENSTEIN.

These reanimated corpse zombies are a different type of zombie that do not go for brains and chunks of human flesh. Instead they are sexy-looking zombies in lust-love.

Enjoyable read of mad scientists, love zombie dolls and mind links.

This is definitely a creative story. A body that is dead that become reanimated by an artificial intelligence. What a concept?

The story of our alpha hero rescues the girl who was supposed to be a bride. She needs the guy in order to survive. Hmmm interesting and quite unique.

Overall the story was intriguing and kept me interested until the end.

This was such a fun read for me. I was unsure about this one. I was thinking zombies. Zombies and I do not get along at all. Nope not happening. But its weird cause they died and their brains got rebooted rewired, whatever. lol But it was a really sexy and sweet story and I really need the others to see what happens next.
