Hmm, an incoherent niche book for wannabe ballet stars. Although this book is really quite disorganized, there is potential in the four lead characters (Kaitlyn, Taylor, Alexandra and Julian) who are all in high school and also attending the Vancouver International Ballet Academy. The reader is taken along their individual journeys as they prepare for a Christmas performance of "The Nutcracker". However, where the books falls down is that it puts the capital "D" in Dysfunctional - dysfunctional...more

Charis Marsh's Love You, Hate You is about the dance world, so it's obviously of interest to young readers interested in dance. For the rest of us, it's entertaining and funny, and it's a deeply disturbing allegory. The young characters in this novel struggle to retain some deep sense of self in a milieu that is relentlessly exploitative. People are valued by others only in the narrowest of ways. Individual identity is reduced to the body, and the body itself is only an instrument to be exploite...more

I've read my fair share of dance/ballet related fiction and often one or more characters ends up bulimic or anorexic. She then ends up in the hospital or something which makes her and those around realize how serious eating disorders are, but in this novel the girl with the eating disorder was fine and it gave the impression that having an eating dis...more

I really liked this book :) It like right away brought me into the ballet peoples lives, and it was really cool and neat. Especially since you see so many different perspectives. I liked the intensity the characters had for dancing, it's cool that they're so determined.

I think this book was pretty good. It's worth to buy this book if you're a dance lover like myself. Read my whole review on word press here! http://mariazuppardi.wordpress.com/20...
