I first met author KB Miller online last year. Her vivacious personality and the relationship she shares with her readers drew me in. I recently re-read Compulsion, the first in The Moon Coven series, and Haunted Moon, a novella. Again, the Moon family’s core values resonated with me. First and foremost, I have the up most respect for Kymberlee Burks-Miller. When we were just starting out, this kind hearted stranger went out on a limb and supported and believed in the dream Blood Magic. She pushed it and spread the word, for that we are forever in her debt.

In the age where witches and vampires rule a big part of the book market, Kymberlee’s book had a refreshing ‘take’ on this genre. The immediate family connection (and I do mean family as in a whole bunch of family members!) had me settling back and ready to enjoy her story. I enjoyed reading Compulsion very much. I finished it in about 3 hours. I found all of the characters to be engaging and interesting particularly Lily. I understood why she got angry with Mason but when she finally forgave him I cheered. Dax and his brother were so wicked but they served their purpose of making the story exciting for the reader. I am seriously hoping that there will be a sequel so I can get more of Mason and the rest of the Moon clan. I also want to see what Dax has planned next...more

With such a close knit family it doesn't take long to bring everyone together and have them believing now they just need to figure out how to become what they are supposed to be. Lucky enough their grandmother left them each with a note that helps them with where they fit and who they are to be. They all need to learn their powers, work together and deal with Lily's adoration of Mason while they are at it.

As a main character Lily does not disappoint. She truly is everything that you look for: determined, strong and loving. When she first finds out what her true destiny is she is not very confident but who would be right off the hop not knowing the extent of the power they hold and having to worry about protecting a very large family! Determination fixes that soon enough and you can't help but love her extreme need to protect her family, which includes Mason. That is probably my favorite and her most admirable trait. The amount of love she has for her family and friends. Kymberlee makes this point very apparent and you know exactly how Lily feels about everything that happens.

Mason.... He enters the book as somewhat of a god in Lily's eyes and lives up to those standards quite well. Everyone loves him, that means an entire family not just friends approve. It doesn't matter how many ways I try to picture him it is always his eyes that stand out in my mind and Lily seems to love them as well. They do symbolize something for him though and it is a very important something. It's what gives him away to Lily when she first realizes that he has not been very honest with her. To be honest that is what drives me nuts about him. He is not forth coming with information no matter how petty it is or even if it is important to Lily. That is about his only fault and all things considered it's not that big of a deal.

I would love to write about each member of the family, mostly siblings and cousins but there is so many that it is just not possible. Knowing that you are going to have to believe that I would if I thought anyone would make it through the entire review. Each member of this family including lily's best friend Cam are amazing and engaging characters. The physical description doesn't always rock but who they are stands out and you know who is who. Once again I love how close they are and they love that you feel coming from them. Without it they wouldn't be as strong or nearly strong enough to face what they have to deal with.

I have to mention Dax and Victor. Though you will not see much of them, they play our villains role in this novel. Being the vamps that plan on taking the Moon Coven down and in Dax's case taking Lily for himself. Did I mention they were a certain someones brother?! That being said this book wouldn't be the same without them. The Moon's have to learn their inner power for a reason right?

Now I will mention I did have one very small issue. I found that certain parts of the book would just jump right into another place and time (not like back in time but ahead) out of nowhere. This left me with a couple of confused moments but it took nothing to figure out what had happened and get back to quickly finishing this book.

Overall this was a quick and compelling read. It was a fun and easy read with all the most important things: romance, action and the paranormal. I would recommend this to anyone that has a love for the paranormal.

They just seem to get better and better, every book I pick up to read are fantastic, and this book is right there with the rest. I was on facebook one night and one of the other bloggers had a post to show this fan page some love, so I went over to check it out and the cover for this book caught my eye. I liked the page and read the blurb for the book which drew me in some more. Now I love anything to do with witches and anything paranormal so this was right up my alley. I emailed the author and asked if she could use another review and she said yes and emailed me a copy of her book and we were off to the races.
I had a feeling it was going to be a good book, but, what I didn't realize was it was a GREAT book with a great story waiting to unfold for me. When I started I thought ok a nice easy read with a good plot, it completely took me off guard and became an awesome read with a fantastic plot, awesome characters and a book I just could not put down. It starts with Lily, just your average everyday ordinary young lady going to college, she has a huge family, an awesome bestie and a Grandmother she loves greatly who lives on a farm. All is well in her life going along with her day to day routine until she gets a phone call from her dad telling her her Grandmother has passed away. From that moment on, absolutely everything in Lily's life changes, including meeting a handsome man, Mason, in a line up for coffee after almost running him over with her Jeep, she didn't kill him don't worry, good thing too cause from his description Mason sounds very dreamy.

At the reading of her Gran's will from that point on everyone in her family, their lives all change, they find out that they are all witch's and they only have so much time to figure out their powers, grow them and learn how to use them as the wards their Gran has set are coming down and need to be built back up, if they aren't built back up the evil vampires are waiting to kill them all, all except Lily, they want her and her powers.

It will take all the family's searching for the answers they need to figure out their powers, how to use them and to solve the family's past in order to defend themselves against the evil vampires now threatening their lives. Gran leaves Lily notes along the way to help them, but the rest is up to them. This is an amazing book, filled with action, it will have you thinking along the way with the Moon family in their search for the answers they need to keep them alive, and a very sweet love story mixed into the book. I love how family orientated this book is, to me family is always most important. Kymberlee has written a wonderful novel with an amazing plot that keeps you guessing, cheers the whole family on and keeps you turning the pages and won't let you put the book down until your done. If you are looking for a book just like this, this should be the one you pick, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy everyone!!!!(less)

Compulsion by KB Miller was a fantastic read. I thoroughly enjoyed the story. There are tons of novels out there that feature witchcraft but this one drew me in. Incredibly detailed with fantastic plot and character development, I found it to be a well executed novel. Told mainly through the eyes of the main character, Lilyann Moon, the novel still allowed me to feel the depth of emotion from the other characters. I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Ever since reading the novella "Haunted Moon" I want to jump right into Compulsion. This book takes place in the present day following around Lily Moon, who recently found out that she is a witch and must lead her coven against an evil gang of vampires. Also Lily is trying to keep her relationship going with a good vampire.

The book starts with the Grandmothers death and the unveiling of the family secret to the grandchildren-they're witches.
Their parents had turned their backs on the craft and were hoping that their children would never find out about it but a life threatening supernatural problem scuppers that.

It had good flowing dialogue although i thought some of it could have been abbreviated to make it more modern but it didnt bother me.

WOW this is the second book I have read by KB and her writing keeps getting better with each book I read. I love her writing style and love the characters. I think my favorite is Declan and Lily. Although the new cover of “Compulsion” isn’t really my taste, the blurb did entice me to sit down and see what the story is all about.

I finished the book in no time, as the author’s writing is very simplistic and uncomplicated. She takes you into the lives of likeable characters who each discover their powers, grow as persons trough out the book; and a family whose bonds strengthen as they work together to face the dangers that threaten their lives and their very existence as a coven.

Compulsion is a simple read in that you don't have to have a dictionary next to you to understand it. That makes it easy to sink into it with ease and allows the reader to experience the different layers of the characters.

The story opens with Lily losing her grandma and from there she is whisked into a world of magic she doesn't quite fully understand. The entire levity of the opening scene really pulled at my heart strings and made me appreciate the depth Lilly had, from the start.

They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I'm afraid that isn't true where this book is concerned. I hate to give bad reviews but this book truly is as awful as the cover.

The characters are so boring and I honestly couldn't care less what happens to them. The storyline is in no way unique and it seems to me like the author has taken bits from other well known books and just thrown them together.

First of all let me say the blend of depth, love, secrets and action made this one powerful read. I adored the Moon family and their bond. The Author has such a wonderful way of describing characters, surroundings and circumstances to where you feel you are actually a part of everything. The twist that she pulled on the Vampires is perfection. The main character Lily sadly looses her grandmother in the beginning of the book, leaving her to take over and fulfill her destiny. I want to point out though, as I was reading through this part of the book, I made a note that this Author obviously knows the pain of loosing someone close. I could feel it through her words sending such emotional boom into my heart.

** With my heart beating out of my chest, and all of the air sucked from my lungs I did the only thing I was physically capable of, I stared back. **

As I said I could feel every character of this book. Having read this story through Lily's words makes you actually believe 'you' are her. That is precisely how felt, that I indeed was Lilyann Moon. That's how wonderfully executed this book was done. All the real self-confidence and first love issues of a true young women was in this story. What an amazing job the Author did bringing all these characters alive through one POV amazed me. High praises for this Author.

Now lets talk about Mason, holy smokes he will be everyone's new book BF I am sure. What makes me so sure, ummm because he is now on my list LOL. I really enjoyed the way he was brought into this story and let me tell you this, the Author caught off guard when I finally found out who and what he was. I was NOT expecting that discovery at all.

So if you love witch tales, vampires and ghost, run and get this great book. It will provided you with romance, action, family love, secrets and mystery. It will make you giggle, fall in love, and have your stake ready for a fight.
