Aww! *big dramatic sappy sigh* I loved this! Jonah and Laurie were absolutely adorable together! It wasn't exactly what I was expecting from the blurb, but that's ok, I enjoy a nice surprise every now and again!

I'm not sure which adjective to use to describe this story; sweet, adorable, lovely, wonderful, fun, enjoyable, so effen cute! So obviously I liked it. Other short-story writers need to take a page out of Piper Vaughn's book. When we as reviewers say, "well the character development wasn't great but it was just a short story so..." no more excuses. So, this isn't really the normal type of book I go for, but in trying to expand my horizons, I thought I'd give it a try. I'm actually pretty glad I did. The characters are well formed and believable and the story is adorable, and a little naughty, but that's okay too.
I really loved the relationship that formed between Laurie and Jonah. It was sweet, adorable, and made the story really hit home for me.
I highly recommend this to readers over 18 due to adult content.

This is one of my favorite stories in the series. The photo that inspired this story is very sweet and tasteful and Piper Vaughn does a perfect job bringing that photo to life. The story was the perfect length and it skillfully encompasses the history between the two men, the current relationship, and hopes for the future. A great story told in very few words.

This story was eleven kinds of awesome and I'm so glad I got to read it. I don't even think I can name one things about it I loved because the entire thing was so good - characters, description, writing. Can't wait to read more.

Of all the stories in the Hot Summer Days anthology, I have to admit that this is not one that I was eager to read. It states very clearly in the descriptions that I have read that the relationship is based on deception... the beginning of it anyway. I didn't think it was my thing. Wow - it couldn't get any better in terms of debuting your talent than this!!! From the very first line (which, by the way, is probably one of the biggest attention grabbers I've seen:) through all of the amazing detail packed into this story, I was completely enthralled and loved it!

This was a really cute story about Jonah, who has been in love with his older brother's best friend, Laurie, forever. In an effort to get his attention, Jonah makes up a story about an ex-boyfriend dumping him because he wouldn't have sex. Jonah then asks Laurie to take his virginity because he's someone he can trust and knows Laurie wouldn't hurt him.

A sweet and perfectly-sized short story: the writing style was clean and confident, and the pacing was solid. I enjoyed how likeable the characters were, and in particular how considerate Laurie was. Even considering the constraints of the length of the story, however, I didn't find the characters developed deeply enough for my taste. Jonah's immaturity (even separate from his inexperience) wasn't very interesting to me, either, and he often came across as even younger than eighteen, which I esp...more
I've always enjoyed all stories Piper wrote. She made the characters more real and it is so easy to picture them inside my head. It's really sweet friends to lovers story as well.
Sure, there's a plot about drinking underage...well...I've met SO many people start drinking right after high school at a house party or "forest" party and it is entirely normal. I had my first party at a forest in Santa Cruz and I was only 18 years old. Anyway, that wasn't the point.

An easy but romantic read.. I love this!!
This is the sweetest story that I’ve read in a long time. It was nice to have two young men who were comfortable with their sexuality, accepted by their families and completely in love. There were no real betrayals, no verbal or sexual abuse and just the tiniest bit of teenage angst. This is a relatively short read, but it is well written and made me smile…a lot.

This story is cute and what I would consider wistful; only because I think everybody has a first crush and wants to do something about it. This story allowed me to think back to my "first time" and wish that I'd been as lucky and as able to admit it to that person and act upon those feelings. Jonah was a very lucky person indeed. Holy fuck that was so bloody adorable. I loved this book. A definite curl-up-in-a-chair-by-the-window-with-pouring-rain-pounding-outside-and-some-classical-music-playing kind of book. Not only was it adorable, it was sexy as hell with majorly loveable characters and cute/funny scenes.
A fabulous read.
Definitely recommended for those who enjoy this genre, and for those who want taste this genre and are, in a sense, Gaymance virgins. Not at all unlike our lovely MC . . .

The story was brief but very tender and sweet. I love the way the relationsip developed for Jonah and Laurie. Although I'm a bit bothered on how likable Laurie seemed to be. He seemed just short of perfect both in looks and qualities, albeit his temper can cloud his judgement especially when he's jealous. I'm not sure if it has to do with the story being rather short that there wasn't time to explore each characters' flaws though. Still I very much enjoyed the story.
