I must admit, the first time I saw Jacey Boggs' yarns I wasn't impressed. As a knitter and a spinner, what use did I have for yarn with felted eyeballs in it? I figured she was a fad and that she'd blow over and disappear, leaving the field for serious spinners. I can't tell you how wrong I was and how happy I am to have been so wrong.

This last summer I took a 3-day class with Jacey at the prodding of a fiber friend. My mind was blown. Apparently, when she takes on a challenge, Jacey jumps in h
I have been waiting for this book to be released since the day Jacey announced it. I attended one of her workshops two years ago and I own her first dvd, Sit and Spin, but there is something nice about having a book that can sit by your side while spinning. I didn't expect to see many new techniques presented and I really bought the book so that I could have a book, but I was pleasantly surprised that not only were there new techniques, but also changes on some of the older techniques Jacey taug ...more
It's like finding Rock'n Roll. If spinning is your thing and you want to explore the medium, textured yarn is the way to go. It opens the door to so many possibilities you might not have ever considered.

Spin Art is detailed and easy to read but the DVD is even better. The video has close ups on hand movements which helps with learning the techniques. The yarns used also have good contrast to help you see what is going on clearly. Jacey Boggs is easy follow -although the techniques may take pract
A brilliant book. The emphasis of this book is to make art yarns (though Jacey Boggs prefers to call the yarns textured) that are structurally sound, balanced, stable and useable (this is very important and yet neglected by other authors in this area). This is, by far, the best book on this aspect of spinning. The DVD is excellent, well presented and clear. It's lovely to have the book and DVD as a single package.

And best of all it's totally inspiring.
preliminary rating based solely on my eyeballs (not felted) -- just bought the book, and looked through it, and the beauty! such very beautiful yarns. kudos to the photographer as well; this is the best presentation of yarn i've seen in a while. now to haul out the prettest bits of my stash...

Not only were the text and pictures helpful, so was the DVD. Yet another "must have" for spinners of all skill levels. The author is working on releasing a new spinning magazine. I can't wait to see what she comes up with

WOW. Yarn spinning is now added to my "BUCKET LIST" of things to do before I die. Some of the yarns are so fantastic!
Rockin' all the way!
