Shelves: aliens-and-other-worlds

I totally love this book and did not want it to finish where it did. I want to keep reading and find out more! This book was even better than the first. It is a lot faster moving and we are coming to know more and more. One of the reviews I had read said Aniah was weak in this book, I beg to differ! The journey to her destiny continues in Propheticus: Migliao.
Once again I was sucked into this amazing world created by Emma Daley. These books were so descriptive it was very easy to lose myself in the story and feel as if I was really there. The storyline itself is even more intense and action packed than the first. There are also plenty of twists and turn that kept me on edge in this book, especially when it came to Aniah. This book was a great surprise for me. When I started reading it, I never expected it could be so good. And of course, I didn’t know it was science fic!
First of all, I’m a cover lover. That way this book never caught my attention. And the name: The migliao? What the hell it could be?
That why I was really happy since the first pages. The author introduced me to Aniah’s world and the horrible Mangitori de Sangue. Terrible creatures that try to destroy the world and kill Aniah to ended up with the...more

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it got my heart racing and kept me wanting more: the action picks up and the plot thickens; many of my questions from the first book were answered and a few new questions were added. I read the book quickly and I want to know what happens, and so I eagerly downloaded the third book in the series.

Thanks to Emma Daley for giving me the second book in he series, Propheticus: The Migliao.

Complaints: Grammar and Spelling Errors

There were some incorrect uses of I and me. It is not correct to say that Emma followed Amy and I into the woods. Emma did not follow I, Emma followed me. Therefore, Emma followed Amy and me into the woods. Also, there were a few instances when a a character's name was spelled wrong. Novel with one 'L' was seen.

If you haven't read the first book in this series, Propheticus: The Mangitori de Sangue, pick that up first. This series of books must be read in order if you want to understand what is happening. This book picks up a few months after the first one, and jumps straight in to the story, assuming the reader has already read the first one.

If you haven't read the first book in this series, Propheticus: The Mangitori de Sangue, pick that up first. This series of books must be read in order if you want to understand what is happening. This book picks up a few months after the first one, and jumps straight in to the story, assuming the reader has already read the first one.

I enjoyed the first book, and enjoyed this one a little more. The author is really starting to find her own voice, leaving behind much of the influences seen in the first book and figuring out how an Emma Daley book should read. It makes me very excited to read the final book in the series because her writing just gets better and better.

As for the story, it is told in the same leisurely pace as the first one, but is anything but slow. The author takes time to form the characters, even the minor ones, which makes you care for them and care about the narrative. While the first book focused on Aniah and Novell's growing relationship, this one sees that relationship grow, but sees Aniah dealing with her new responsibility. I did find that Aniah, who was such a strong character in the first book, was weaker and needed much more protecting. I understand, she's carrying a new and important responsibility, I mean, it must be hard to deal with the idea that you need to save the universe, but it was a little tedious. Thankfully, Aniah begins to find her strength again, and I hope that strength will carry through in to the last book.

This book has much more action, and well-written action, than the first, and I look forward to reading the last one, and cannot wait to see what direction the author takes in her story.

But, like the first, and like most independently published books, there were still a few formatting flaws, such as using the wrong synonym (their for there), and the use of italics were inconsistent. Sometimes in the same sentence the Mangitori de Sangue or Migliao would be italicized in the first use and not in the second. Otherwise, well done.(less)

In the second installment of the Propheticus trilogy, some action takes place in the story. Aniah left the safe life that she once had and set off on a journey on which her life and the life's of her beloved ones are menaced but it was out of her hands. By the end of the day, she was the savior on which the universe is depending on. This book was written from the point of views of Aniah, Novell, The Man with the White Hair and was once told featuring the Survivors and to be honest, I was really bored while reading those type of un-defined tellers chapters.

However, the book picks up about eight months later from where the first book, Propheticus ends. Where Aniah was all devastated and unhappy. Her relationship with Novell was disturbed and she is full of fear from what is to come next. On the contrary, Novell seemed to be a bit preoccupied as he was preparing for their journey to find the fourth person in the prophecy and was on the mission to prepare Aniah to fight for herself. And I think that there was some sort of an attachment to the main characters and to the world that we once went through from within the first book and that was a factor that tied me up through the beginning of the book, which had was slow-pacing in the first chapters.

I enjoyed all of the new/almost-new characters whom were introduced in the story, especially Jonahs, he has some dimensions to his characters. And Daley was able to handle it all well, with the new characters and the intense surprises and incidents, it all went smoothly together. But Aniah, I feel was getting a bit silly, like based on the book, I felt that she had a lot of childish actions to her. Another thing that annoyed me and didn't like at all, was that whenever Aniah did something like literally anything, other than walking, sleeping and eating and believe me she didn't do much, everybody would freeze and look at her in awestruck, I wanted to shout like get on with it already people! I didn't see how she was getting stronger, except for her weird thing. Aniah was a bit different here, I mean she was still Aniah but I rather hoped for her character to develop more or become more of a mature after embarking all these new stuff and journeys.

Again, I like Daley's imagination. There were some really creepy creatures with weird names, just weird living things overall and it was just out of the normal theme. Some intense moments happened which kept me craving for more but I just don't want to give anything away except that I'm excited for the route that Aniah's life is taking, totally unexpected. And I'm still not sure about how Aniah will end up being but all this, would definitely keep us, the readers entertained enough. However, there was this thing about this book, there was this Twilight-ish touch on it, which I absolutely didn't like. And now looking back at it, I can see that small tiny factors played a role in making the first book, Propheticus slightly better.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading the sequel to Propheticus and would highly recommend reading it, if you read the first book of course. For the fans of Twilight, but here it is not about vampires but about some eerie blood sucker creatures that can hunt you down through your dreams and pop into your real life. A thriller and a fantasy story, exquisitely written by Emma Daley. A page-turner and SUCH a cliff-hanger, in a brutal way. Now, I can't wait to read the third book.(less)

I just started this book last night and just like the first book I CANT PUT IT DOWN!!! Emma is very talented at making me feel that I am right there with the characters in the book in all the action. Cant wait to see how it ends... and for the 3rd book!!

Stories such as such as Jack and The Beanstalk, Peter Pan, and the Grimm Fairytales captured her attention and sent her into daydreams of other worlds with horrible obstacles that needed to be overcome. She couldn’t get enough mystery and adventure as she read about characters with strength and wit that could change their worlds under incredible circumstances. They were given magic or advice that helped them through their challenges, and Emma easily saw how this courage could be related to every day life, as she dreamt of courageous and adventurous ways out of her own obstacles in life. She seemed to be attracted to films with horror and excitement, suspense and intrigue. At the age of five, if you asked her what her favorite movies were, you’d be surprised to hear the variety and culture of these films; The Labyrinth, It, Never-ending Stories, Poltergeist and the Little Mermaid. As she got older, she never missed an episode of X-files and the Outer Limits. She was a big Terry Brooks fan; she began the Shannara series and after her homework was done, she would read until bedtime.

The world of make believe was all around Emma as she grew up; she was inspired by life around her. “There was a few years when I was little that things were kind of all over the place; we were moving a lot for my fathers work and money was always very tight. When I was about five, I remembered watching as my Mom painted over the rainbow and the dove that I had painted on my wall in my bedroom. I asked her why we had to do it because it made me really sad. My mother explained to me that something had happened and we had to leave our house. I think I was more saddened about losing the painting on my wall than anything.” Emma came from a large family-nine brothers and sisters. Her father worked hard in construction, but sometimes money was tight and Emma watched as her father, sometimes painfully, counted out money to buy milk and bread for the next week’s meals. But Emma would not consider her life an unfortunate one; she was surrounded by a large family with loving brothers and sisters, who shared and gave everything they had. She considered her life rather enchanting. When Emma was about six, her father received a job offer in a small town outside of Vegas. The family was very excited about the new job and packed up everything they had, sold the house, and left their small town in Utah. When her father entered the office of the construction company that had given him the offer, the man apologized that they had gone with someone different. “I couldn’t imagine how my father must have felt at the time. My parents must have been sick.” Emma’s church heard about their family and their situation. The next day, a single wide trailer had been moved onto a piece of property that used to be the towns junk yard-it was where the town had dumped all their old vehicles and tires-now it was Emma’s home. Some children might complain about the living condition, but Emma and her family were grateful. The junkyard looked like a playground to Emma, and if you asked her now, it was one of the best times of her life. “There was this old crane on the lot that I used to climb to the top of and look out over the city, especially when the sun went down; it was beautiful. I felt like I was on top of the world.” Emma told scary stories in the empty silos a mile or so away from their trailer, even though her Mom yelled at her not to in the dark, and told her horror stories about how the bats liked to tangle themselves in little girl’s hair. “I think the fear behind it made it more exciting. I never understood why it was such a big deal to my Mom that we played in the silos until about six months later when they tore them down because they were crumbling and people were getting hurt in them. I don’t think even that would have kept me from them. I think I remember crying when they were torn down.”(less)
