Sometimes, Mila dreams she's a butterfly . . . .

Sometimes, she's a bookworm . . .

Or a surfer girl, or even an astronaut.

So, like many people, I was first introduced to these pictures through email/blog posts. And I loved them. Love love loved them. Enersen's images of her baby sleeping are sweet, lyrical, dreamlike (which seems appropriate), and just lovely. So I was really jazzed to buy a copy of the book so I could have them for my very own.

And I do love the pictures, and I will look at them repeatedly and think, "I wish I'd done something so lovely for my daughters when they were newborns."

But. I was hoping fo...more

This is a terrific book to share with new mothers - a gift to bring to a baby shower or to send to someone you know. The author dresses her baby in colorful clothes and each picture is a new dream: a portrait of the infant in a surreal world full of blankets, toys, and textiles arranged according to the theme. The first page is one of the cutest. We see the infant sleeping on two blankets. A green blanket marks where she would be walking through grass if she were awake, a white blanket marks whe...more

The idea for this book and these photographs that seem to act out the baby's (or the mother's) fantasies is highly original. Among other carefully and cleverly staged moments, the photos show a baby petting a lamb, fashioned from gauzy material, and black and white socks, traveling the world on the back of a blue elephant, again fashioned from cloth folded to form its body and trunk. Although I loved them all, my favorite would have to be the photo of Mila "splish-splashing with her tail" (unpag...more

I was first introduced to Adele's breathtaking photography via her blog when I had an infant and I was so impressed with work and her captivating creativity with each picture that she captured of her daughter. I love that now some of these are featured in Adele's debut picture book, When My Baby Dreams. From woodland forests, to frolicking in a field, to an under sea adventure and soaring the sky above, Adele captures beautiful images that take the reader on a dream like story along sid...more

This is a beautiful book that adults and young children can enjoy together. Every page or two starts with, "When my baby dreams..." and is followed by a page with a picture of the author's sleeping baby, and this picture is set into a creatively staged photo of a forest floor, a cityscape, a perfectly pink world, etc. etc. For example: One page says, "When my baby dreams of traveling the world..." Next page is a picture of sleeping baby atop an Indian Elephant and the words below, "she starts he...more

I really enjoyed Adele's blog of photos of her baby in these cute imagined dreamscapes, but this book was a hybrid of her great photos and a storybook. The quality of the photo printing wasn't that great, which served to further undermine what I thought was a originally a great concept. The "story" isn't too compelling, either, so I just felt cheated out of the photos that could have been there instead of the words. In any case, the blog was better than the printed edition, which is usually what...more

Very interesting photography in this book, I assume of the author's own child. Prior to picking up the book, I was not familiar with the author's blog. While the photos are pretty special, I wasn't crazy about the text. I kept thinking that this book is great for adults into babies, but not sure about actual kids as the audience. Before knowing the book featured a the author's baby, I wished there were more cultural diversity in the child featured in order to be able to use it during a lapsit st...more

In Enersens first book, she stages photographs of her newborn daughter sleeping and speculating on her daughter's dreams. The photographs are cute and the words soft. Pros: interesting use of household objects (primarily cloth) to stage settings; sweet for parent/child reading together. Cons: although it is a children's book, it probably is better suited for a public library, as it won't have mass appeal at the elementary level.

How freakin' creative is this woman? I love the photographs in this book! While Mila is sleeping, her mom imagines what she might be dreaming and creates backdrops out of ordinary household items. After reading this book...you will sigh and say "Awww!" (Unless you're one of those people who don't like to see babies/cats/animals dressed up cute...if you are, then skip this one).

So clever! The niche for this is small but then there are moms, grandmas and grandma-wannabees like me who'll love it! I smiled all the way through and have to admit I always wondered what my babies were dreaming too! Can't imagine having the time to set up all of those pictures as a new mom even if I did have the talent !

I followed Adele's Blog while she was assembling the photos for this book, and each one was better than the previous posted photo. I enjoyed them so much that i purchased the book to keep them to look at whenever i like.

This is just a lovely little picture book, but woh, what pictures!

The pictures were gorgeous but there weren't any that I hadn't already seen on the blog. The wording was awkward at times and the story didn't seem to have any rhyme or reason. I loved the art and the typography. Great for a first time mother.

When My Baby Dreams is photographs of the author daughter imagined in many different dream-scapes. I think a new parent would really find this very cute. I enjoyed all the different dreams and how Enerson uses household items to create them.

The author imagines the dreams her baby is dreaming and illustrates her nap area as such. I think this is a cute idea to do with your own child but I don't know how many people would be interested in this particular book.

Like Anne Geddes, Adele Enersen has photographed babies in such a unique way, you can't help but be intrigued.

Mila, Adeles daughter, is the star of WHEN MY BABY DREAMS. This book is of what Mila's mom thinks she dreams about. Check out Mila's blog http://milasdaydreams.blogspot.com/

Fun book. Adele Enersen's artwork featuring her sleeping baby is adorable, but in this book, she actually turns it into an imaginative storybook for children. Clever staging. Inspiring art.

This is what can happen when a creative parents spends significant amounts of time at home with a newborn and a camera. Anne Geddes meets Lewis Carroll.

Great gift book for moms, I think. I'm not sure how this would translate to kids, but I was tickled by the creativity.

This book is so precious and the baby so beautiful...such creativity.

I loved these photos of sleeping baby in scenes made with fabrics and household items. A sweet treasure.

This might be the cutest book I have ever read.

A book that Angela on The Office would probably like.

Clever and Cute!

I'm amazed she could get these set up without waking the baby! The audience isn't too big for this, I think, but it could be a nice book to share with children expecting a baby brother or sister and any new mom would appreciate it, I'm sure. Otherwise, unless you're a librarian or book seller it's not likely you'd find this book too appealing or useful. As a baby pictures lover myself, it was fun to look through!

Cutest. Book. Ever. This (along with Marla Frazee's Boss Baby) is totally what I'm buying all my friends for baby shower gifts from now on.
