This book in the spin-off series "The Books of Faerie" gives a glimpse of Auberon as a child, before he became King of Faerie. It's fascinating to see who Auberon used to be.

There are other familiar characters here as well, such as Dymphna (who turns out to be Auberon’s aunt), Obrey and even the Amadan (what an underhanded manipulative creature!).

As with all the books in these series, the stories are well-written and engaging. There is even a Timothy Hunter (from "The Books of Magic") story at
Appeal Characteristics: Neil Gaiman's creation, faeries, politics, war, backstory of The Books of Magic

This is a back story of a larger work created by Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess called Timothy Hunter and the Books of Magic I was sorta lost throughout because I know nothing about this series. I reviewed this tpb collection, along with Books of Faerie (Titania's) for Fae Awareness Month. Link right here!

As a side note, the actual Auberon bit would get 4 stars. The other stories are cool, but more of a "that was cool" 3, so it might be a 3.5er over all.
Ties into The Books of Magic and Sandman. Not as an interesting read as Titania's Books of Faery. Deals with Auberon's war in his youth for the throne.
This was pretty to look at (just look at those Faery land skies). The story was run-of-the-mill but it had a little charm.
