Vampires walk among us. For centuries, they have adapted, learning to pass undetected in our world. They no longer fear the day, only the sting of direct sunlight. They are students, bankers, lawyers, and even actors. But when the sun goes down, they are all united by their eternal thirst. We do not see them from our safe and comfortable side of the night. This story takes the interesting idea of secrets and how much you should reveal to a potential partner. We begin the story with college student Bastian who is coming to terms with the fact that his body is changing after a bizarre and frightening one night stand at a frat party. He's suddenly developed a strong allergy to the sun, plus a craving for blood and he's desperately trying to avoid thinking about the V word. As all this is happening he meets Riley and they start having coffee with each ...more

I haven't read a vampire m/m story for ages so it's great to find this new release from SL Armstrong and K Piet. The Other Side Of Night is the first in a new series which looks quite promising. The story starts with Bastian, a frightened and fundamentally changed art student who is in denial about becoming a vampire. At the same time he is dealing with the usual issues of being in college and wanting to meet someone and form a genuine relationship. He has fallen for Riley, a student veterinaria ...more

Bastian Rossi has known something is off in him ever since a bad night at a fraternity party last semester. His newfound sensitivity to the sun and his desire for blood are making it impossible to deny that something in him has changed since that terrible night when he was attacked by the guy who was his casual hook up.

When Bastian meets Riley Lynch, he is instantly drawn to him, and the two men slowly start building a relationship. Rile

I liked this book very much since it made a paranormal romance almost “normal”; Bastian is a newly made vampire, but he is so new and unprepared to the event that he is almost trying to convince himself it didn’t happen. Sure, growing an allergy to sun and long fangs don’t help him. And the drinking blood issue neither. But Bastian is still hoping it will go away, especially now that he is falling in love with Riley, and he wants to enjoy this new love like any other college kid.

I love vampire stories, they’re a first and lasting love in fiction and Other Side of Night fits in well with the genre. There is nothing especially new or fresh about the plot and concept, in fact it’s very familiar on just about all levels. The story takes all the existing vampire trends and clichés and puts them together in a decent, entertaining story that holds your attention. It’s not groundbreaking or different but it’s interesting and well written. Vampire fans especially will

I was interested in the main characters their backstories and their chemistry. I think the book was most successful in these areas.

I dealing with vampires, I would expect more mythology derailing their temperament, spirituality moral code and distinguishing characteristics both mentally and physically. Now, the author did not have to delve too deeply into this area because the story is tokd in the POV of Bastian, the MC in question, who woke up infected after a one night stand with a stranger. H

I'm not bothering to copy edit this because I hated the book so much. I have no idea if there are really spoilers. I did it on my phone with autocorrect so read at your own risk.

No way would anything but a manipulative guy offer up that kind of information about being beaten when they haven't even gone out on a date yet but he wants to do so--and in public no less.

He knows he has to drink blood and can't be in the sun but he doesn't realize he's a vampire? Get real.

It doesn't make sense that

Stars: 3.5/5

This story takes place in a traditional vampire world with a very different sort of vampire as the focus. Instead of the sexy, suave vampire, we are given as our lead vampire an average college student who has to figure out this new world on his own. Although the majority of the premise isn't earth shattering, the writing and story telling is excellent, and the authors delve into less common vampire lore, which is refreshing.

I would recommend this book for people who love read

Reviewed by Jamie: Interesting story. I think this one caught me by surprise - which is always a good thing. The blurb didn't really prepare me for that this was. I was expecting a very vampire themed story, with perhaps a lot of vamp back story. I was wrong and that was, admittedly, my first niggle. It's not a spoiler, as more a general warning; if you want to read lots of 'vampire' facts and folklore, this is not the book for you.

If you're more interested in love overcoming all obstacles, with

Sensual. That is the word I would use to describe this novella. I guess I should explain what sensual means to me, so we are all on the same page. It is when the story is about more than two people coming together in a well written sex scene. There are deep passionate emotions tied to the act, which for me means a lot of slow, deep, drugging kisses! The authors did this very well. I was envious of what Sebastian and Riley have. It doesn’t matter if this wa

This is the first book I've read by these authors, and it didn't disappoint. The two main characters, Bastian and Riley, are college students. Bastian has been turned into a vampire by a one night stand, and doesn't have a clue as to how to go on from here. (Is that a lesson for safe sex, or what??) Riley is a new man he's met just as he's beginning to to go through physical changes involved in becoming a vampire. (Including his canine teeth falling out so he can grow fangs...iickkyy)

But Riley
**review coming soon for Rarely Dusty Books**

In this character-driven story we meet Bastian and Riley. They are two very different persons who meet and fall in love, but there is more to this story, than just two people meeting. For one, Bastian is no longer human. Riley on the other hand, is, but has some issues to deal with before he can commit to a relationship.
Other Side of Night is not an easy book for me to review. There are several issues I have with this story. If I look at it objective

I tend to like the collaborating works of S.L. Armstrong and K. Piet since they usually contain an unusual and/or original twist on well worn types of plot. This is no exception and certainly offers a refreshing and interesting take on the 'vampire story'. While both protagonists were likeable to different extents, in my opinion Bastian seemed to steal the limelight as he was very well portrayed in the complexities of his human/vampire dichotomy.

So why give the piece 3.45 and not 4 stars? To pu

In the beginning, when I read the blurb and the pages, I was this going to be one interesting blurb with a disappointment read - anyway, I took my chance pre-ordering it and never regret this order.

SL Armstrong and K Piet wrote a different take on vampires and enlightens me how hard it is to be a vampy ( especially the teeth drop. *__* ) and yet with a strong will like can still survive in this harsh world. ( no bed of roses unfortunately ) There are parts I was a little

It was good novella. I liked how 'normal' Bastian tried to live after he was bitten and turned vampire. Apart from avoiding sun and drinking animal blood he was acting like a college guy - studing, working night shifts to earn some money and courting a potential boyfriend. It was refreshing aproach to vampirism, without big paranormal hype. He was also sweet, caring and forgiving when it came to Riley. In the end the paranormal aspect turned pretty conventional and wasn't strong point of the sto ...more

This book is a bit of a mess. It's not sure whether it's a thriller, a romance or jambalaya. After a slow build up the second part seems random and from a different book. I wish I could have been happier with it, but it just left me with a confused meh. Also, apparently a little murder is totally cool with budding veterinarians. Who knew?

The story dragged at times; might've had something to do with both MC's constant angsting over each other. The repetitive mutual contriteness over some perceived mini-misgivings took away from the big drama in the end. Both the romance and the fantasy part followed tiresomly well-trodden paths.
