I now make tea by adding the milk onto the teabag, before the water. Just like Lucy's Nathan, who reminds me a little of my own little surfer boyfriend, now husband.

So this was a little reminiscent for me, light and fluffy, but actually it grew on me. It was sweet, these things do happen, a young 'ish' girl realising that maybe she shouldn't settle for what is just 'ok' and sometimes we need to consider taking a leap. A cute surfie boyfriend with not quite short hair either brings back memories
Oh, this was... not good. Maybe after my Sophie Kinsella-athon I expected too much out of some more chick-lit. And evidently this particular chick-lit did not come even close. The premise of this made me happy because, as an Aussie, I love Aussie boys and Aussie places and because I love silly romances and clever chick-lit, I thought I was onto something.
Sadly, I was not.
Firstly, 'smart' chick-lit. Lucy, our dear protag, was anything but. She swung back and forth between James (fiance) and Nat
This book is about having the courage of following your heart no matter the odds, the obstacles, or what everybody else think you should be doing.
The beginning and the end of the book were 5 stars. Gripping, filled with tension, and quick paced.
The middle part was a little bit dull, 2 starish, it felt as if I wasn’t reading about anything in particular, which is upsetting, and it was also slow. Plus, the story of the father was a bit over the top of depressing for me.
So the mean would be 3.5 s

Lucy In The Sky is Paige Toon’s debut novel. It’s the story of Lucy who goes back to her native Australia for her best friends’, Molly and Sam, wedding. Just before her flight takes off, she gets a text message from her boyfriend James and her whole world comes crashing down…

Lucy In The Sky is one of my favourite books, along with Paige’s other novel Johnny Be Good (and others), and is a very impressive debut novel. The writing style is told in first-person so we hear all of Lucy’s thoughts abou

Agony. Heartbreak. Gut-feelings. Indecision.

Such is life that we constantly face cross-roads. One choice may change everything. So, the story starts out with Lucy returning home to Australia from England. She meets Nathan, a younger brother of one of her best friends, and falls hopelessly in love with him. When she must go back to England, she faces the prospect of being James' long-term, live-in girlfriend. As 7 months pass by, Lucy comes to the realization that she has deeper feelings for Nat

»Hi Lucy! Habe gerade mit James in deinem Bett geschlafen. Dachte, du solltest das wissen. 4mal diesen Monat. Hübsche Bettwäsche! XXX «

Natürlich muss Lucy nun er

This is the third time I have read this book. It's my favourite book ever and Paige Toon is my favourite chic-lit author. The first couple of times I read this I didn't write reviews and with it being my favourite book I thought I would re-read it and so now I'm writing the review for it.

I love this book, I love everything about this book and it's a book I can re-read over and over again and never get bored because it's such an amazing love story. It was one of the first books I read and it's th

I dunno how that happened but this book went down the drain. Like really. It started so good and I had a good feeling that I finally picked up a funny, charming and wonderful book. But in the end, I did get a boring, stupid and blahblahblah book. WTF?!

Usually I am all for the romance thing like a girl torn between 2 guys and stuff like that but here? I really couldn't take it much longer. As I said the beginning was fun, interesting and looked promising with Lucy receiving a sms from an anonymou
Lucy is about to set off on a flight to Australia for the wedding of her two closest friends when she receives a text message that sets into motion a series of events culminating in a soul search as to whether she really wants to stay with her boyfriend James or whether Nathan, gorgeous Australian surfer, is the one for her.

What a premise! I loved the idea that Lucy read this message and ended up stewing for the whole course of the flight out to Australia, because she was unable to use her phone
In How I Met Your Mother, there's a running gag where Barney is convinced the real hero of The Karate Kid is actually William Zabka and is baffled that everyone else is nuts for Macchio. My feelings for this novel are somewhat similar. It's Lucy, see? Our titular hero struck me as a manipulative, reactionary and self-deluding bint who spends the entire novel emotionally fucking over two men whilst feeling wildly sorry for her self-created drama. It made me cross.

Erm...WTH was with this book? It started out good. But then Lucy started to bitch about not trusting her boyfriend. Just dump his ass. I think it's a pretty stupid to move in with your boyfriend after dating only a couple of days/weeks. I am not even sure if people do that sort of thing in real life. However I did like Nathan. His relationship with Lucy wasn't moving too fast. They got to know each other and were friends for a long time.

Let's say 1,5 stars. I'd rather give one but that rating is reserved for the books that are too horrible to even finish. This is close, though.
Lucy is really one of the most unlikeable characters I came across in a long time. And I read Game Of Thrones not long ago!

I may be a bit young to read this book, since Lucy is 25 and the whole book is in her perspective. But I thought it was a bit too much. I mean come on woman! Be at least a little independent! 'Oh I can't choose between two men I don't know what to do my life is over!' So over dramatic in my opinion.
There was really no character development throughout this entire book and it was pretty boring all the way through.
I mean, she was SO stupid! Like can you not see that you are pretty successful and

I was expecting a lot more from this book. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it but it was also quite frustrating. The blurb of this book made me think that the majority of the book would take place whilst the heroine was on the flight and her having to deal with all her conflicting emotions while stuck there. But instead this takes up no more than 10-20 pages, and the rest of the book jumps about. A lot.

The pacing of this book is a little odd, and the author's style doesn't quite appeal to me. It w

What do you think about cheating on your cheater boyfriend?

Deep down, Lucy knew she has never could trust James, her gorgeous boyfriend for almost 4 years and had settled in a nice flat together.
There is no single evedence for his acts, only some suspicious thoughts she let them go occasionally. But when she went to Australia alone on a big messy doubt, she met Nathan, a jobless surfer, 2 years younger, a total opposites from her established lawyer boyfriend, and the only person she could open u

I was looking forward to read the second book from this writer. I did read it with joy, but I think it had a little less quality than the other book I read from her. Maybe it is because she wrote this book earlier? I thought this book was a little bit slower, also it was more predictable what was going to happen.

Lucy had to put off her phone for the flight to Australia when she gets a text which keeps her mind busy the whole flight. Her boyfriend denies it when she calls him and tells her it was
2.5 stars.
A little bit disappointed in this book, I normally enjoy Paige Toon's characters a lot more! Lucy just seemed incredibly immature during the whole book, and the way she suspected James but then just accepted his explanations without a though was infuriating. And the fact that she carried on with Nathan - not cheating but kind of cheating - yet got annoyed with James if things seemed off with him. The way things ended with James didn't really rectify how Lucy had been with Nathan in my

Loved the book and fell in love with Nathan. I liked how there were continuous twists towards the end and how unpredictable it was but I was happy that Lucy made the right decision in the end!

Lucy in the Sky was the first book I read by Paige Toon. I adore this book and it is one I regularly go back to read again and again. Lucy is very easy to connect with, I loved her thought process and when reading think – that’s something I would say/think! I completely clicked with Nathan and Lucy’s instant attraction to him. I loved that Nathan is a perfect gent, especially in this day and age it’s a rarity. He is an easy hero to love!

So, if you are looking for a great beach read this summer,

A really enjoyable read. I seem to be reading a lot of Aussie books lately and loving it! Although, most of the book is set in England, the main character visits her homeland Australia at the start of the book for her best friend's wedding. Perhaps you could say this story is typical chick-lit style, OK, maybe predicable in parts ... even frustrating (would Lucy just hurry up and chose between the two guys!!), but who cares about that when the housework gets forgotten and I'm glued to the book : ...more

I started this this morning at 10am and by 2:30pm I was finished.
This isn't the first time I've read a Paige Toon book in one sitting.
It was phenomenal and I completely fell in love with Nathan.
I find that Paige Toon is really good at doing that. She's very good at making you fall in love with the characters. I was rooting for Lucy and Nathan from the second we were introduced to him.

I cannot wait to get my hands on another book by this brilliant author.

My only excuse for reading this book is that I was lying in the hospital and this was all that was at my hand....Wait! I take that back, there is no excuse for reading this book, not even being hospitalized and bored.

I might have guessed that I won't like it (chic-lit has never been my cup of tea) but the fact is that I hate it. It is predictable, boring, xenophobic, full of stereotypes and as for Lucy--- is it possible to be more annoying?

'Lucy In The Sky' is yet another fantastic read from Toon. The plot focuses on Lucy who goes back to Australia for her best friend's wedding, on the flight cracks start to show in her long-term relationship and once there she falls for the groom's younger brother. The plot is very fast moving and interesting and as a result I read this in two days. For me the books that Toon sets or partially sets in Australia are the best as she writes the scenery and lifestyle so well and it feels like you are ...more

I was hoping for so much more when I started this book even though the cover conformed to a typical chick-lit style publication. Unfortunately after a promising start the middle of the book took a bit of a nose-dive and took my interest along with it.

The beginning of the book was well written and quirky, the writing style was easy to read and didn't involve a complicated plot at all. The relationship problem between James and Lucy led to a more than platonic friendship with Nathan (Sam's brother

Really liked her first book and its setting and how she portraied the really hard decision the main character had to make and how love sometimes blindes you for reality. Not as good as "chasing Daisy", but still pretty awesome.

#3 - Always an awesome read. I love me some Aussie surfer guys :))
