"The End of the Line", by Robert Silverberg - The first story that will be in his new Tales of Majipoor book, this story reflects Silverberg's fascination with history. In this case the global 'history' is reflected through events in the lives of a few characters as they try and prevent catastrophe and war. On its own stands rather poorly, but may be better as part of a novel or collection.
