I was trying to research ancient trading for my novel, so I picked up this book when I saw it on the shelf. It talks about the wine trade (as in, wine traded between cities and countries) throughout history. However, I seriously wonder how accurate this book is since I caught a number of basic errors in the ancient history sections. A good book for some of the background history of wine that you're not likely to get in the major "wine knowledge" books. The history of the wine trade is the history of wine... it reaches as far back as Ancient Babylon and Greece, and runs to present day.
