It is very rare that I don’t finish a book and while it is no longer impossible for me to do, it is still very difficult. I have no doubt that one of the reasons I was able to make this a DNF read was because I had recently read its prequel and many of the problems I had with this book I had also had with that one. While I did make myself finish Destiny Divided , Book 1 in the Shadows of Destiny series, I accepted halfway through Destiny United that this series and its heroines are obviously not...more

I really like Leia's writing style. Its a fun story with many different ways that future sequels could go. And, as extremely liberal as I am, I have to admit I'm a sucker for a tough guy that likes to take control of his women. I know thats bad...but its also so good! hehe.

I can't wait for Book 3 is available soon!

I am not sure, but I think this may be my favorite book in the series so far. I was so excited when I realized book two was about Marcelo. I really wanted to know more about him after what he did in book one. I was also happy to watch Erin go from the person I expected after reading book one to the person she was at the beginning of this story to the amazingly strong woman she became through her journey. The felt like I really knew these characters and even when they were doing things contrary t...more

I received a copy of Destiny United from the author Leia Shaw, who was kind enough to send me a copy.

This was another great book from Leia Shaw. She has already introduced sorcerers, witches, vampires, werewolves, and a dragon, and now the Fae, Seelie and Unseelie. It was Full of action, romance and intrigue. The love connection between Erin/Aila and Marcello is sweet. I also liked that She was kind of the opposite to Sage, showing how similar upbringing can turn out two very different personali...more

The second book in the story starts right where we left off. Sage is queen of the underworld and with James at her side, they can handle anything. Sage's sister Erin, has no idea what has happened to her sister. Erin is now a target for the enemies that are against Sage. Sage must send her most trusted friend, Marcelo. He has helped her over throw her evil father. Now he has gone on out of the underworld to search again for his wife (from when he was human). Sage contacts him with a request, go...more

Her eyes were pools of terror. “Be calm, female. I mean you no harm.” He put his hands up in a non-threatening gesture. Before he could reassure her with an explanation about Sage, she flew off the bed and bolted into the bathroom, where she slammed and locked the door. She didn’t ask questions, didn’t threaten him, she didn’t even scream. He was glad he’s grabbed her boots. She was a runner.

Marcelo’s first meeting with the timid Erin was a good indication that these two were going to keep me i...more

I’m not quite sure where to begin with this because quite honestly there were more than a few things that didn’t sit well with me. So, just the highlights.

The tone of the story is too flippant. Marcelo and Erin/Aila seem to be constantly bantering with each other. Marcelo ‘chuckles’ and Erin/Aila calls him Ballsy. Erin has social anxiety and suffers panic attacks because she was raped; therefore, “no grocery stores, no restaurants, and no shopping malls.”...more

Destiny United is a non-stop roller coaster ride of romance, suspense, danger and fun! The twists and turns will keep you guessing until the very end, and the romance will leave you hot, bothered and ready for more!

Erin suffers from terrible panic attacks that control her life. Marcelo has spent his entire vampire existence searching for his long lost wife. When Erin's sister sends Marcelo to retrieve Erin and safely bring her to the Underworld he agrees. Littl...more

First things first: I haven't read book 1. Did that cause any problems in my ability to follow along with what was happening in this book? Nope. Either I used my totally awesome superpowers to figure things out or Leia Shaw did a good job bringing us slow folks up to date. Personally, I'm leaning toward my superpowers but I have a sneaking suspicion that I had nothing to do with it.

Now, Erin's a little screwed up. She has some issues. A few. You'd hardly notice them. She has panic attacks. And s...more

The premise of this book is good - vampires, fae and the underworld but I felt the characters needed more depth. I understood why erin had her panic attacks but then she'd do something unexpected that just didn't fit with her typical behaviour - such as nipping off to a bar when Marcello had asked her to stay in the car as she couldn't make herslf go in the shop - how then did she manage to get into the bar alone - the alchohol prop were told she uses she didn't get til AFTER she went in the bar...more

If you are looking for a summer read put this one on your list. Destiny United is one of those books that sucks you in and holds you till the end. There is no boring beginning to this book, Ms. Shaw dives right in and goes.

One of my favorite characters was Marcelo. *sigh* Marcelo might be 'dark and dangerous', but he is so easy to love with his witty personality. It is a rare book that has me physically smiling while I read, but I found myself grinning and laughing out loud several times throug...more

Destiny United follows Erin, a young college student desperately trying to make it in the world dealing with panic attacks and social phobia gets her world turned upside down by a vampire sent by her sister to bring back to the Underworld.

Marcelo didn't like that fact that his original mission had to be sidetrack by this little favor for the Queen of the Underworld but before he knows it it turns out to be the best thing that has every happened to his undead life.

As Marcelo tries to escort Erin...more

I really enjoyed this very suspenseful and romantic story. I should have read the first book first though. I will definitely go back and read it. I'm dying to know more about Sage. I loved Marcelo. He was a total alpha, but also extremely sweet after he realized Erin/Aila was his mate. Erin was a stitch. I couldn't help but feel sorry for her at the same time I was rooting for her to kick some butt. I loved the action in the story and enjoyed the world that she has created. Although there was a...more

Really struggled to get through this. Saved from a 1 star rating because it picked up a bit in the second half and it didn't make me actively angry.

The pacing is sluggish, there's no real world building to speak of, the plotting for what's basically a road trip romance is strangely all over the place, and the h/h... I'm not sure where the author was trying to go with their relationship but even taken separately the characters were stupidly impulsive and inconsistent. And super-powered, of cours...more

REVIEW:
Destiny United by Leia Shaw is the second in the series Shadows of Destiny, in a world full of supernatural beings. Where the first book follows Sage and James, Destiny Untied follows Sage’s sister Erin and starts right where the first book left off. I have to say it’s rare for me to like the second book more than the first, but I absolutely loved M...more

I loved the story line! Afterall, what's not to love about the Underworld, sexy vampires, sorcerers, werewolves, the fae, a dragon shifter and a fae war with a romance in the middle of all of it?

Marcelo, a 843 year old vampire, is sent to find Erin by her sister Sage, the Queen of the Underworld. When he sees her the first time, he thinks date rape bait who has sexy down to a science.

Erin, human with a little extra, thinks of Marcelo, "he was sexy as hell", as soon as she gets over her panic att...more

This is the 2nd book of the series, and a incredible addition to the 1st one! I could not have put it down if I tried. The character were incredible, with a hero to drool over. Mmmmmm. I absolutely love the heroine. Everything about the characters were fabulous. There is not one thing I would add to them. Writing style was impeccable. The plot and the pace was mind blowing. The originality of the story just draws you in. I absolutely loved this book. I can not wait for the next one!

Awesome book! I stayed up half the night, reading on my computer, because I *had* to know how it ended! I love how Shaw's female leads aren't typical heroines.

This is the second book in the series, and it stands as a great story on its own, but you definitely want to read Destiny Divided (Shadows of Destiny) first just for the background. Once you read Destiny United, you'll want to read the third book (we have to wait!), so you may as well know the whole story.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. All o...more

Leia Shaw knows how to write sexy, badass vamps. Marcelo was the perfect alpha vamp. Leia Shaw was able to write Erins disorder in such a realistic way. Erin's (Aila) inability to go into stores or be around crowds was portrayed perfectly. I totally felt for her and her disorder. I enjoyed reading the way Erin grew through the whole book, overcoming her fear, alcohol and the pills. What was best about that was how much Marcelo helped her through it all. Erin was a meak, timid human at the start...more

Destiny United is the second book in the Shadows of Destiny series by Leia Shaw. After reading the first book, Destiny Divided, I had to read Destiny United. Leia Shaw did not disappoint! Another great story!

Destiny United introduces us to Sage’s sister, Erin/Aila. Erin/Aila grew up in foster homes much like Sage, but developed some disabilities due to her experiences. Erin/Aila suffers panic attacks and often relies on alcohol to cope. Once Sage realizes Erin/Aila is in trouble, she sends Marce...more

Wow. I can not express how much I liked this book.....but I will give it a try :-).

This is the second book in the series and I liked this book a lot more than the first. With the first book I had issues connecting with the lead characters and getting into the story. Not so with this book. Loved it! Four stars is the highest rating I have ever given to a paranormal romance book, so this one is on par with my beloved Black Dagger Brotherhood series. A high compliment from me indeed.

This was my first book by this author. I really started it without any expectations, and a little scared that I would be lost because I didn't read the first one. But it started off really interesting and definitely caught my attention.

Maybe this has something to do with Marcelo, because, well, he's hot and has that bad boy thing going on. Caring and sexy. He is sent to bring the Queen's sister, her human sister, to the Underworld.

But werewolv...more

Destiny United is a great read! The characters are well-drawn, the plot is fast-paced and exciting and the dialogue is witty. The hero, Marcelo, a vampire who is sent to protect the heroine on her journey to the underworld, is to die for. The heroine, Aila, is funny and very likable. She struggles with inner fears at first, but grows into a capable, self-confident woman through the course of the story. The sexual tension between the two is strong and their romance believable and emotional. Ms. S...more

OMG- I am in love with a vampire! I read a review that didn't like the banter between Marcelo and Erin/Aila and I disagree totally... It added some much needed levity to the story.. It made me smile and it allowed me to admire how damaged people can come into themselves, to make themselves better. Leia Shaw has a knack for taking us through a mariad of feelings as the relationships grow among her characters.. A definite must read!

It surprised me how good this book was! It reminded me of Alexandra Ivy.

This paranormal world was unique. How people ended up the paranormal faction & their turning was original. I was not bored at all & it was constantly moving. The end was kind of disappointing, because things that should have been important were dropped off as "Anh! No biggie!" at the end. Also, the sister drama build up was nothing more than a passing "Oh I love you glad you're safe" And it seemed to end abruptly, b...more

Ahhh... Marcelo. I wanted more of this character after meeting him in the Underworld in the first story. I'm so glad Ms. Shaw brought his character and Sage's sister Erin into this second story. Continuing the story with the search for Erin at Sage's request Marcelo goes on the hunt. This book flowed along better than a river in the rainy season.

I really love leia shaws writing, it's very simple and to the point. its definately not like other books, she has her own way of writing. theres push , pull, sass, and much much more. youve got your posessive male, who by the way are super hot, and your got you independent women who can take of themselves, but the men complete them. cant wait to see what comes next

Loved the hero - he was strong, caring, totally fantastic... The heroine was whiny, immature, and needed a good slap into reality! But the story had promise and turned out to end well as the heroine matured and grew into her fae heritage.. I'll read the next in the series... :D

The second book in this series was just as good as the first. I loved the tension between the two main characters. So drawn to each other when they thought they shouldn't be. Marcelo is one hot vampire! Oh did I say he was hot? :)
