I have found that I don't really care for mysteries in the short story format...too much to cover with too little time. This book is a compilation of short stories written by the winners in a YA writing contest. I found the variety interesting, the writing well done, and while I didn't love all the stories I did find them interesting. I would say that the first place story is not my least favorite, but it would definitely be closer to 10 than 1 for me.
How do you give a rating to a book of short stories? It's hard, because some of the stories deserve more stars than others. It was fun to read work by some new authors, and I enjoyed the creativity of some of the stories. I skipped some authors due to the rough language, but most kept it clean. Overall I enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading next year's winners.
