Ms. Gromely’s first book is a great lighthearted read about a young female named Cytolene alien who is abandoned on earth by her family to find a way to make a profit off of humans. The story is well told, and well paced with enough lighthearted comments mixed to keep it fun. The story is focused on Cytolene and her relationship with the humans and other aliens. The book is set in the modern day universe and a very significant portion of it takes place on Earth. The aliens have advance technolog...more

Cytolene isn't having a very good day. At first she was thrilled that her mother picked her for this assignment - scouting the planet Earth with an eye towards harvesting humans was a big assignment (not to mention a tasty one!), and it had been worth the painful disfiguring surgery if it would get her mother's attention (it's not easy standing out when you're the 63rd daughter in a family of 200). My favourite book of 2011! The fairies of the title are really aliens who live off the life force of other living things. Turns out humans are the tastiest and the heroine intends to farm us. Luckily she learns the error of her ways and when she is captured along with several good looking males and one female human she decides to save them.
But what can one alien do against a whole civilisation who view us as food?
This was a really enjoyable read. I finished this in two days which is a testament...more

Don't Feed the Fairies is as much fun as it's title. It's one of those books that I picked for the name alone, I was glad to find that it lived up to my expectations. There are aliens, power struggles and enough muscle bound men to keep you entertained from start to finish. Can't wait for the sequel to this!

A fast funny SF story with an unusual twist on human/alien interaction.
