Am I the only one who finds the idea of Neo Queen Serenity really sad? I can't imagine how Usagi could become a person that her daughter sees as beautiful and unreachable. Someone who's never given her daughter a hug. I don't know that I want her to mature if that's what maturity looks like on her. :/ Based off this volume I think I prefer the relationship Chibi-Usa has with Sailor Moon over the one she has with her mother.

I'd forgotten that the newest volume of Sailor Moon came out this month, so when I saw it on the shelves of my local B&N, I instantly grabbed it off the shelves and made for the front register like someone was going to snatch my copy out of my hands. (Hey, I've been to conventions. It's murder out there.)

Just some little nitpick-y things here. There was one page where some of the dialogue was cut off as it was so close to the middle of the book, that I had to bend the book a little bit more than I am comfortable with to actually read all of it. There were some ink splotches from a printing error all over a dialogue balloon in my copy, so I would just recommend to skim over the book before you purchase it if this is a big no-go for you. I was a little disappointed when I realized that I had found...more
It's a strange experience reading this manga. So much of it is familiar, and yet it's so completely different. It feels like the storylines are rushed with very little character development within the chapters. There is some, of course, but it feels lacking.
It could be because I keep expecting the storyline to be similar to the anime, and I need to get out of that habit before it disappoints me. The four sisters, for example, were barely in the story enough to matter and it seemed like they were...more

It’s hard to review this, because it’s so far into the plot of the series that if I say anything it ruins it. Especially since there’s things that happen in the manga that don’t happen in the anime. All of which I’m beginning to love more so than the anime. A lot more.
Chibiusa shows up in this volume, who I don’t find as bratty as in the anime. Though that may have been her voice actor in the English dub that rubbed me the wrong way. Her backstory is better explained as well, so it makes me love...more

I finished the book I borrowed from my friend and picked this up the next day, today. Yeah, I read it really quick!
Anyways, I was disappointed in this novel due to Usagi's actions throughout the novel. (view spoiler)

Favorite Scene:

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Vol. 4
If an oddly colored child or teenager come out of the sky randomly or kills a baddie in one slice, they are probably the child of someone you know from the future. It's a fact. This issue of Sailor Moon deals with the Black Moon Family and the future of Crystal Tokyo which takes place in the year 3000. The Black Moon has already taken Mars and Mercery leaving Jupiter, Venus, Moon and Tuxedo Mask as the defenders of the Silver Crystal.

Best book in the series so far. The plot finally makes a departure from the episodic format of the previous volumes, where some enemy would hurt civilians, the Scouts would show up, kick ass, and then the next episode would start. Who would've thought that a story arc involving time travel would actually make the book more interesting and not a headache inducing convoluted mess? If you've been wondering where the Sailor Moon story finally picks up and gets meaty, this is the volume you've been w...more
The 'Sailor Moon R' arc continues in this volume, and luckily more questions are being answered about the Dark Moon Kingdom as well as Chibiusa. I love that Takeuchi explores Chibiusa and Usagi's relationship with some actual thought, considering where Chibiusa's from and how Usagi feels about both her and Mamoru. Usagi looks totally gorgeous in Neo-Queen Serenity's dress; too bad it's due to Prince Diamond's skeevy advances. Plus, SAILOR PLUTO SAILOR PLUTO SAILOR PLUTO SAILOR PLUTO did I mentio...more

It's interesting to see how the anime departs so much from the manga at times. I thought in the anime we had already seen Wicked Lady by now, but I guess I was wrong, and I know that in the anime all the senshi were there when the King announced that Chibi-Usa was Usagi and Mamoru's daughter. But the manga is the true version, and I enjoyed this translation. It was a fast read, sadly, because now I have to wait another two months for the next volume!

Well, this volume was definitely better than the last, which was made of BLECH. In this volume, we get to find out the history of Black Moon and planet Nemesis and get to visit thirtieth century Crystal Tokyo. Seeing the future characters was neat and we got introduced to Sailor Pluto and even Diana. Oh, and of course, hilariously, we find out that (view spoiler)...more
Another great volume. The trip to the future is well explained, and the translation no longer feels clunky or wrong. The art is absolutely superb, very pretty yet always easy to decipher and there's never a moment where you won't know what's going on. This is actually fairly close to the anime too, so fans of both should enjoy this. It's difficult to review manga like this, since you'll unlikely be reading volume 4 if you didn't enjoy 1-3, but there you go.

I felt this was the strongest issue yet of this translation. It pushed past my nostalgia factor and I fully and unironically enjoyed it for its own strength. A lot of the usual tropes, but this issue also carries some surprisingly understated characterization for two of the characters.
Initially this volume started to get a bit repetitive and I started to get bored with it. Thankfully it redeemed itself in the last couple issues. I love seeing the developing relationship between Usagi and Mamoru in this one, including their struggles. The Dark Moon arc has always been one of my favorites and I am glad to be able to get more of a backstory on it from the manga.
IT ENDS THERE?
WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS TO ME?
I NEED MORE SAILOR MOON AND TUXEDO MASK. OTP OTP OTP
And now I have to wait until May for the next book? UGH. NOT HAPPY. 3

I'd give this more stars if I could. Chibi Usa! Crystal Tokyo! Future stuff! Sailor Pluto! Gah I think I'm liking this storyline tons more than the Dark Kingdom one.
Tuxedo mask has his own attack! Hallelujah he is actually useful!
Though I enjoy the Black moon story line, I can't wait til its over so Haruka and Michiru can finally be introduced.
And FYI to fans of the anime who might not have tried the manga yet, I think the manga is better, even if it more a little fast paced. The storyline is better in the manga :)
