Couldn't put this book down. Such an enduring spirit. History of WWII comes alive through the turmoil of this life.

WOW! This is an amazing story! The resiliency of people never ceases to amaze! Recommend this book to fun reading types to historians. The story has something in it for everyone. A fantastic read. Loved it. It's iconic as was the story of Anne Frank. It's worth reading just to understand the beliefs of young Italians in the time of war, to feel like you were right there with Vittorio in the refugee camps, and to feel like you pay it forward to America while living the American Dream. I loved this story! History and personal narrative woven together.... I learned a lot about how the histories of Italy and Libya are connected. And I felt a connection to the author, as the story was very well-told. You can get this book at Harvard Bookstore in Cambridge.
