**Sending out big thanks to all the new readers! I love you guys.**

The tingling, mesmerizing heat blazed even hotter in my veins as I watched him stroll towards me. There was a blatant elegance in the careless way he moved, from the slight swing of his arms to the fluid action in his long legs. He leaned over me, his eyes cold and calculating, his cool breath swirled over...more

The first book in this series had so much promise. I was so sure that this book would be better since that's usually the pattern. I was mistaken. By the time I got to the end of this book I felt I had read 3 or 4 different stories. There was so much lacking in character development that I was left with only vague mental wisps of what the characters looked like. There was little consistency in them to get any concrete feel on who they really were. The only saving grace to this series is that it's...more

I was browsing through amazon and came across this book. I bought it not realizing it said book 2, so I did not read book one. I took a chance on the book even though the product preview seem more like an excerpt from the book.

This was a good read for me. I was annoyed when I had to put down my book to do things because I wanted to read it straight through. Even though I didn't read book 1, I was able to have an idea what happen from book2. The author made sure to give brief descriptions on what...more

This is book 2 in S.J. Wright’s wonderfully original Undead in Brown County series. I was drawn to this book because I used to live in Greenwood Indiana and Brown County was a favorite place to picnic and sometimes camp. I have lovely memories of the hilly, heavily wooded area teaming with deer and other wildlife – and a non-forgettable outdoor hot-tub experience with my sweetie, with snow falling heavily around us (we were house-sitting a friend’s isolated cabin for a weekend, gosh! Has it real...more

Ok so I really liked this, but I had some problems with it...

The characters I really enjoyed all of them! Michael is still a bit of a mystery to me but I think that is what the author is going for. I still fell for him in the first book and that carries on to this one. He's powerful but desperately in Love with Sarah.

Sarah she is feisty, strong-willed and has a strong sense of family. All these things make her a great female lead. She fell in strong for Michael but is wary of him which is to be...more

My review:

Since this was a second installment of the Undead in Brown County series, and I haven’t read the first book, I was excited to see what the series is about. I have read reviews and blurb and books excerpts from the first book, so I had a approximate picture what the first book was about. I wanted to read and review The Vampire’s Curse and it was all worth of the time spent. The Vampire’s curse is novella of 128 pages, so I read it in one sitting. I enjoyed the writing style of S.J. Wrig...more

I don't know what happened here, after the first book I thought, ok...decent, let's see what happens in #2.

Uhhh...

It kind of went downhill for me, starting with the unexpected hook up and almost killing of the heroine and a dude from the first book (trying to not give anything away). It felt so out of the blue to me I actually flipped back to the description on my kindle to make SURE I didn't actually download book #3 or something.

It just felt like this book was missing big chunks and that was...more

Big thank you to all the new readers! I love you guys.

The tingling, mesmerizing heat blazed even hotter in my veins as I watched him stroll towards me. There was a blatant elegance in the careless way he moved, from the slight swing of his arms to the fluid action in his long legs. He leaned over me, his eyes cold and calculating, his cool breath swirled over my cheeks like a freezing winter mist.

“You’re not afraid?”

I could not move. He was holding me prisoner without chains, without bars of a

Although I didn't really like the first book, I thought I would give the series one more try. Sometimes the first book isn't that great because it's setting up the story, and it just gets better from there. Yeah. That didn't happen.

Michael was still what carried me through this story. I couldn't really get into any of the other characters. Sarah was just annoying, her sister was self absorbed (Really, you get mad at your sister? Like it was actually her fault.), and Alex was just all over the pl...more

Sarah’s destiny is to be the warden to vampires sentenced for punishment or who just want to sleep without being disturbed. This of course comes with many complications. One of which is dark and sexy Michael. He is irresistible and trouble with a capital “T”. Even though she has a huge attraction to Michael there is another man, Alex. Alex, who was once a vampire and then was turned human, is a vampire yet again. This is one thing the council has feared because Alex is a unique and an immensely...more

The Vampire's Curse is the 2nd book in the Undead in Brown County series. I really enjoyed the first installment, and was looking forward to reading this one. It was even better! The first book was more about Sarah coming to terms with the fact that vampires existed, and that she was a vampire warden. In this book, Sarah was able to explore relationships which brought some romance to the story.

I have really enjoyed the love triangle. In the first book, I was leaning more toward Alex. In this boo...more

In The Vampire’s Curse S.J. Wright takes readers further into Sarah’s story. Sarah has recently discovered she is the last in the bloodline of Vampire Wardens. We find our more about the Vampire’s who are kept captive on her family’s property, the specifics about the curse and how it has changed over the years and we finally find out the details surrounding Michael and his forced imprisonment.

There was a major twist early on in the novel that really caught me off guard and added some excitement...more

This book is a little longer than it's predecessor, but it's still fairly short and a light read. I think the paper back has 216 pages, but I read more quickly on the digital format. Anyway, I did like this one, not as much as I had hoped because it went in a completely different direction than I thought it would, which isn't bad really. I just wanted to slap Alex upside the head a lot, and I am still rooting for Michael, he just seems a far more interesting, and less volatile character. The wri...more

So, I will give this a 3.5/5 because it was a bit better than book 1. It went in unexpected directions. I expected the series to draw out the love-triangle for the whole 5 books. But in this one, Sarah has sex with one of the guys within the first few chapters, and it seemed as if she was making her choice. It seemed as if she couldnt live without him. But then he drinks her blood without her permission and there is blood everywhere and she is so weak she cant move and she is going to die. Then...more

The Vampire’s Curse is the second installment in the ‘Undead in Brown County’ series by S.J. Wright. This addition to the series is jam packed with excitement. There’s the unexpected appearance of Sarah’s undead mother, a steamy love triangle and a power struggle going on.

Sarah is coming to terms with the task, of being a warden, that was left to her by her father but I think she is beginning to become a little bit overwhelmed by it all. It’s all still surreal to her and she can’t believe that...more

After the battle between some vampires, Alex was harmed and it was really grave... and the decision rested in Sarah hands... and she decided to not let him die and turn him into a vampire. Again. Alex being as a vampire is realy dangerous. He's even more powerful than Michael, Golden boy as Michael called him, indeed he is as he has a different power that has to do with light, energy and the new one fire. They don't know if Alex is a bad one now, if her sister will be a vampire but she does kno...more

My thoughts:
Once again S.J. Wright brings us a fast, compelling read. I enjoyed learning more about Sarah and the story of who she is and how she became that person. I loved Michael in the first book, and continue to love him in this one. He is my favorite character and my heart bled for him when he feels betrayed and lost. I was torn between loving Alex and hating Alex - I guess that was the author's plan. I was thrilled with the supporting characters and the roles they played in this book. Kat...more

I had to pick up and read this book as soon as I finished the first one. The need to know what happened to Alex was overwhelming. Then the story took a turn that I was not expecting. I was sad but also happy because it opened the door for other things. I liked that Sarah started to feel more comfortable in her role. That is until she runs into more emotional problems. It seems that they just keep piling up on the poor girl. Some of the Michael mystery has been answered, though there is still a...more

After reading both books back to back I must say, S.J. must write faster, just kidding but January is too far away to know what happens next. I haven't decided how I feel about Alex I feel like I'm on a roller coaster ride when it comes to him. I also find myself rooting for Michael the further we divulge into this series. But its these cliffhangers that is driving me nuts.

Can you tell I loved the second book in this three book series. Just a little bit huh. It just might be my favorite out of...more

Again like the first book the writing and spelling were a bit rough, but the story-line itself has a lot of potential. I did find myself getting bored at times, and then confused a bit. Some of the character point of views jump around and it leaves you kind of scratching your head. Still want to finish the series.

Not as good as the last book. There were a few entries in the book that seemed a little disjointed, which I had a hard time figuring out exactly what the author was trying to portray or just seemed kind of random. This one still had some language, and some scenes to skip over. I was a little disappointed.

Out of all the many vampire/paranormal books I've read there are by far the most beautifully writen. I don't like flowery, uber-illustrative descriptions, but the way Wright blends that in to her writing is gorgeous.

I was unhappy with the direction she took Sarah - is she strong, is she weak, why is she sleeping with random people all of a sudden. I felt like her character got mangled and was not dev...more

I thought this was a great book. The beginning of it I loved. Some where in the middle I was a little confused. It was nothing major, but I have a lot of questions and I think some of the story skipped out on details.

The book though is really fast paced always something going on. There are lots and lots of surprises. And just wait until you see who she ends up with! I was always for Michael then I switched it up to Alex in the beginning of this book. But you just wait and see how that all plays...more

Oh, Alex...Alex...Alex. What is the matter with you? There is something not right with him. I fear for him and the ones around him!!! Ups and downs. Total craziness. Completely sucked in. In complete love with Micheal...that is for sure. Can't wait to see what this whole thing in between him and Sarah. Poor...Poor Sarah. Thank the goodness!!! Weird, crazy Pawnee man. Katie to the rescue...BUT at what cost to herself?

Completely engrossed with the whole story. Can't wait to read the third one to...more

Alex is now a vampire and Sarah hasn't seen him since. Katie is still scared and is planning on going back to school leaving her with Nelly and Michael. Michael and Sarah have an attraction but she doesn't believe that is ever going to move forward. Then Alex comes to her and he also drinks her blood. This makes Michael very angry and he saves her when Alex almost drains her dry. The Alex reappears but with Katie under his spell. This book continues to keep my attention and I wished that the sto...more

I hate to give this 2 stars, but while I'm interested in the story I just don't want to keep reading. Everything happens too fast. The entire time I'm reading I'm trying to figure out what the heck is going on, not the literal actions, but the why. A two second explanation is not motivation! I'll probably read the next book, but it seems like a chore.

I really do enjoy the concept, but I wish there was more characterization and background so I can actually understand the characters, not just the...more

So this one ends on a cliffhanger also. I kind of hate that. The first part was great. The second part switched POV's which was good for the plot but things happen that don't make sense. There should have been more details. I can't go into specifics without spoiling but concerning vampires feeding habits, what happens is not explained at all. Such a vague review. I don't know if or when I'll read the next one. That's unfortunate because the first book was good and the series had potential.

Well, I got he, along a distinctly mud bogged road, onto this second book. I still skimmed along bit time, but actually did find the story actually moved along at a slightly better pace, making it that bit more readable and enjoyable (almost) than the first book. I'll probably give it a bit of time, till I've forgotten it's clogged up faults, and try the next book at some stage in the future.
Jeanna-Has Probably Read It!
All I'm going to say is where is book three. I need to get it and I won't stop until I do. Hahaha I loved this little series. I liked Michael and Sarah. They are awesome and if Alex wasn't a little demented I would love him too. Alex makes you pause for a minute to make sure you want to get involved because he might accidentally take you out. lol loved it.
Martine
I really struggled with this book, I enjoyed the first one and had to understand what was going on so I got this, but I'm even more confused now, it felt like I was missing pages. One minute the love of her life is Alex then the next page she's in love with Michael and he her? When did that happen? Very confused!

Born in Indianapolis several decades ago, S.J. Wright grew up in the corn belt. It was terribly exciting. She is the sixth of seven daughters, crazy about horses and dogs, has two sons who are twelve years apart in age, is a reading freak and currently lives in Little Elm, Texas with her two sons, husband, and her constant shadow, Shelby.
