Written and illustrated by a first-grade class in Kennett, Missouri, these children reflect on how the world remains the same after September 11th. Even though bad things did happen, good things continue to happen.
May be more for the enjoyment of adults because kids may not want to see pictures that other kids drew or hear a story that other kids wrote.
May be good as a supplemental story but not by itself. What about the people in New York whose lives really were changed...more

This book is written and illustrated by first graders after the terrorists attacks on 9/11. They discuss how things will still be ok even though this terrible tragedy has occured. This book is great because it shows students that even though something terrible happens, there is still hope for better things to come. I would love to get this book for my classroom; I think that knowing that other kids wrote and illustrated this book will help them enjoy it even more.
A first grade class wrote and illustrated this book after the horrific events that occurred on September 11, 2001. This book captures the innocence and hope that these children witnessed the day following this historical event in such a beautiful and simple way that all can enjoy it. I would use this book in my future classroom to discuss current events.
This a wonderful story created by the students at H. Byron Masterson Elementary School about the day after September 11, 2001. The book is complied of pictures drawn by the students and talks about what happened that day and why they thought everything would be alright. This is a good book to use in the classroom to teach about September 11th.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was neat for the class to come together and write and draw this book. This also reassures people who read it that even after a horrible thing happening to our country, everything would still be alright. I am going to have this book in my class so we can discuss Septemeber 11th.
This book was written and illustrated completely by first graders. It shows the hope that these children had the day after the September 11 tragedy, as well as their innocence. I would read this book to my class on September 12 each year as I teach the students about the important day in our country's history.
A first grade class created this book to share their experiences and remember that after the tragic events of September 11th most things were still the same. 2 + 2 still equals 4, they still had recess, and their parents still kissed them goodnight.
A very touching book straight from the hearts of young children.

This story was an award winning book that made some sense about what happened on 9/11 to the younger generation. It was written and illustrated by first graders and their thoughts on what happened that day and following. It showed others that we can move on from horrible times.
This book was written by a class of first graders about the day after September 11. It is about how they knew everything would be okay. It was a cute book and would be nice to read near September 12th every year and it could inspire students to write their own book.
A book written by a first grade class about their experiences the day after 9/11. It is a great book to read around the anniversary and to demonstrate that writing, even by young authors, can be published and awarded.
Great way to talk about a touchy subject. Heartfelt story published by children. Eases anxiety, reinforces safety. Great for pulling children out of an unusual or scary situation.

This book was written and edited by a first grade class. The main message of the book, things will be alright even after the horrible things that happened on September 11, 2001.
This book is about the day after September 11th in the eyes of a first-grade class. It was the recipient of the "Kids are Authors" award. The book was written and illustrated by the aforementioned class. The hopeful main message of the book is that life goes after horrific events. While the topic of the book is somewhat sobering, it would be a good read in a classroom and would spur thoughtful discussion amongst students. In my opinion the book does seem to downplay the lives of the people direc...more
This book is a great book to use in the classroom. The book can be used to relate the children's feelings of September 11th to other children's feelings of September 11th. I would also talk about how September 11th changed the United States as a whole.
"September 12th" is a wonderful book to share with students. It proves to them that life goes on. "September 12th" is a Kids Are Authors Award winning book. Many young students today were not yet born when September 11th happened. This would be a great discussion book about that day and how it changed the world.
