Part-graphic novel, part chapter book, this is an entertaining and somewhat educational story about an adolescent anthropomorphic dragon and his cousin, his iguana pal, and a girl lizard. It's the sixth book in the Dragonbreath series by Ursula Vernon.
This was a fun story featuring Danny, Wendell, Christiana and Danny's cousin, Spencer, going away to summer camp. The narrative expounds the fun of camp, but of course Danny and his friends have to have an exciting adventure, this time involving j...more

I just finished reading Dragonbreath: Revenge of the Horned Bunnies this book is about Danny going to camp Jackalope with his friends Wendell and Christiana and his annoying cousin Spencer. They seemed to all like it because of the horses, lakes to swim in, and campfires! But Danny and Wendell were getting suspicious about Spencer they follow him to the place he goes secretly, they figure out Spencer had a pet jackalope (a mythical animal known to the campers and counselors) and Lenny is a counse...more
Danny is off to camp, and unfortunately his annoying cousin Spencer (who likes to relate entire plots of television shows and give running commentary when Danny is playing video games) is coming to Camp Jackalope as well. Things start off okay (Spencer isn't in Danny's cabin), but when Spencer goes missing, Danny worries. With his new friend Christiana (an ardent left wing feminist!), they go looking for him and find out that he has found an actual jackalope! Unfortunately, counselors Lenny and...more
Reason for Reading: Next in the series.
This is certainly the most well-written story in the Dragonbreath series to date. We have a complete developed plot, with adult antagonists, that progresses following conventional plotlines. The book actually involves a mystery that is solvable by the reader if they pay attention to the clues given out along the way. Danny and Wendell have become bonafide complete characters with their background stories built up over the last several volumes to create two...more

The Dragonbreath books are mind candy for the young reader, and rather fun for the grown-up, as well. Mixing text dominated pages with graphic novel-esque spreads, they are easy, friendly, and fast books to read. The stories about Danny, a young dragon with fire issues, and his pals, are strange and suspenseful (and often very funny), the illustrations are utterly brilliant in their simple humor and charm. And as an added bonus, there is now a central girl character--a lizard named Christina, wh...more

Title: Dragon Breath: Revenge of the Horned Bunnies By: Ursula Vernon
It all started when Danny wanted to go to sleep away camp. Danny kept on begging his mom to let him go with his friends Wendell and Christiana . Danny’s mom finally said yes. Danny went and there was a curse about a horned bunny. Danny set out to find the bunny and when he did everyone found out and wanted to kill it. Danny got so attached to the bunny he tried to save the bunny. Danny ran away from camp hoping to...more

Danny Dragonbreath goes to summer camp with Wendell and Christiana, and to his chagrin, his annoying younger cousin Spencer. Camp Jackalope is awesome! There's horseback riding, crafts (with a lanyard expert!), and the thrill of being able to eat whatever you want (that's Wendell's favorite part). Christiana is a bit bummed, because she'd rather be at space camp, and she hates the giggly female bonding (toenail polish!). One day Spencer turns up missing, and the gang finds him helping out a real...more
Another solidly fabulous entry in the always entertaining Dragonbreath series. It was a little less exciting than some of the previous books (slightly less peril) but still an enjoyable romp, and I was very pleased to see further development of the Christiana character.
And yes, my kids don't get to read these until I do... not because they would be at all inappropriate, but because I am selfish like that.

I don't know why all of the frogs in the Dragonbreath series have to be the bad guys, but, somehow, it doesn't ruin my enjoyment of these books in the least. After all: bunnies! Danny, Wendell, and Christiana are off at summer camp. While dragons riding horses does strike me as rather...awkward...the story is no less believable than any of the other Dragonbreath volumes, and a combination of Danny's (and his cousin Spencer's) natural dragony gumption and the nerdiness of his friends saves the da...more
Book 6 in the series. Danny Dragonbreath is off to summer camp. His younger (and annoying) cousin, Spencer, will be going to camp, too. At least he will still have Wendell and Christiana there to keep him company. Things get interesting when they discover a real, live jackalope! Lively illustrations and easily readable text make this a good choice for struggling/reluctant readers, or conversely is still suitable for younger students who need something with a bit of challenge but without controve...more
Madcap adventures of Danny Dragonbreath and his friends at a Western-themed camp with an ominous undercurrent of nefarious activity. The matter-of-fact witty writing continues, as does the mix of illustration and text. One of the most fun young reader series that I've run across. I appreciate that even when the series has an underlying lesson (like "be nice to your cousin Spencer, he looks up to you"), Ursula Vernon credits her readers enough to draw the conclusion themselves through the events...more
Danny Dragonbreath is so excited to go to camp. He gets depressed when his cousin Spencer goes to the same camp. His best friend Wendall is there to cheer him up, but nothing seems to work except for Danny riding on Bandit, which is a house. His cousin Spencer talks a lot about television shows and soon irritates his cousin Danny. Mythical jackalopes are seen around camp and an evil plot to sell their ground up horns gets stumbled upon.

Another fabulous entry in this consistently funny and exciting series. Although I'd love to see Danny breathe fire again, I love that he solves this mystery by being stealthy and relying on his friends (and in this case, his annoying cousin). Vernon's illustrations continue to amuse and delight me. The sparse use of color is very effective and distinctive. I'd know a Dragonbreath book from fifty paces (even with my horrible eyesight). I'm looking forward to the next entry: fairies!
Another great Danny Dragonbreath adventure... this time at Camp Jackalope! Danny, his faithful sidekick Wendall and their friend Christiana, along with Danny's cousin Spencer, help rescue a group of Jackalopes from nefarious camp counselors that want to profit from them. Once again Vernon takes creature of mythical status and builds a wonderfully entertaining story around them. This is a great series, especially for boys grades 1 - 5 and for reluctant readers.

YA readers, Ursula Vernon fans
As excellent as always, Ursula Vernon's Dragonbreath is a combination of witty writing, mythical shenanigans, and gorgeous visuals. Heartily recommended for YA readers and fans of Ursula's brand of deadpan-delivered absurdness.

The Dragonbreath books are a weird cross between classics children's adventure stories (this one feels like Nancy Drew) and the Babymouse: Queen of the World! graphic series. They are heavily illustrated, and sometimes use the illustrations to actually move the story along. The characters are stereotypes from kid's series, but they aren't actual kids: they're all reptiles or amphibians. Goofy and fun. I read this one out of order because it was due back soonest. My ten year old is also a fan.

Three words: BEST SERIES EVER!!!
Good message about protecting animals. Great for boys and reluctant readers, in addition to girls of course. Bonus with the character of Christina who challenges traditional gender roles.
MUCH improved from the last book. This one takes us back on a fun little adventure filled with hilarious dorky humor. Dragonbreath and his friends Wendell and Christiana go to summer camp, but are joined by Dragonbreath's annoying cousin Spencer. To make matters worse, something rather unbelievable and complicated is happening at camp...but then what better circumstances to allow Dragonbreath to shine? :P

“The last time Wendell's mother had caught them playing cowboys and Indians, she'd read them a twenty-minute lecture on the history of Native American oppression, which had really put a damper on things. It was hard to have a thrilling shoot-out while yelling: 'I respect your position and hope that we can come to a mutually respectful conclusion!”
