My 3 year old loves this book and we have probably read it to her over 100 times! Though there is nothing extraordinary about the story, it is based on the Backyardigans tv show on Nick Jr. which is one of our daughters favorites and therefore makes this book incredibly appealing to her. The characters are adorable and after an initial conflict everyone gets along in the end.

The backyardigans use their imaginations to meet the "ice lady", discover the secret of snow, and save the ice lady. Teachers could use this in winter, and discuss the real way snow is formed. It also discusses friendship and to have fun every once in a while.

The story shows different types of environments and which animals whould live there. The story is also about how friends are always there together no matter what. This story can be used to teach children about friendship, seasons, weather, geography, and snow.
