Halloween is almost here and Lily wants to make her own costume for trick-or-treating. Should she be a scary ghost? Or maybe a roly-poly pumpkin? Perhaps a glittery princess! After many ideas and a few wrong turns, Lily finally settles on a costume that will be perfect for a Halloween surprise with her cuddly kittens.

This is a wonderful tale of an extremely resourcesful little girl who makes several different Halloween costumes, but is unhappy with each of them until she finally settles on the perfect one for her.

I don't particularly enjoy arts and crafts myself. They are messy and I'm not that creative. But our girls love them and I try to encourage their imagination and creativity, despite my distress at the mess. So as I watched Lily cut and paint and use up all of her mom's aluminum foil for a robot cos...more

A good choice for little ones who don't want anything spooky in their Halloween books. The little girl wants to make her own costume for Halloween but can't quite decide what she wants to be. So, she tries a variety of costumes from ghost to princess to robot before finally fining inspiration from two very cute friends. I like the girl's innovation and imagination in making the costumes and the cute Halloweeny atmosphere in the illustrations.

Not bad. I wasn't a huge fan of the text. I liked the story. I thought the ending was cute. I totally related to her costume dilemma--I still have the same problem as an adult! What will I do when I have my own children?! I like the pictures. I think kids will love her figuring out what she wants to be since they go through that, too. A fun Halloween storytime read, probably best for preschoolers.

Lily tries several different costumes for Halloween, but each one is not quite right. The ballerina costume is too flouncy, the princess costume is too glittery, the robot costume is too bulky. Finally, inspired by her pets, Fluff and Frisky, she decides to make a cat costume which is just right.

I won this book in a giveaway from The Children's Nook.

I would go so far with this one to say that it's one of my favorite Halloween readalouds potentially...with a low spook factor and great imagination, this is fun to share. Lily wants to make her own costume...she tries some options, each too something or other. Readers and audience will enjoy seeing what she selects.

This is a really cute Halloween story for young kids. It's a little girly for my son, but both my kids enjoyed reading about what Lily wanted to be for Halloween. The illustrations are adorable!

The illustrations are beautiful - full of color and light!

The story is very very simple - boring for grownups, but might be okay for toddler storytimes. But why does she go trick-or-treating to her own house? Couldn't she at least have gone next door?

Lily tries out lots of Halloween costumes to surprise her dad on Halloween. The perfect is one is right under her nose (and feet)...and with her kittens help, she finds just the one!

Cute illustrations and a fun story for Halloween!

Illustrations are cartoonish and colorful but juvenile. Cute story but what's most appealing about the story is the character's resilience, problem-solving, and creativity in arriving at the right costume.

This search for the perfect Halloween costume reads much like the That's Not My...board books. Cute illustrations with a satisfying end make this a fresh/welcome addition to Halloween storytimes.

Preschool selection.

A little girl deciding on what costume to wear for halloween. She ends up as a kitty.

Too young for school.

I love any book that tells a good Halloween tale AND includes the process of critical thinking.

The kids love trying to guess what costume the little girl will make next.

A delightful, non scary Halloween story that kids will enjoy!

This is an adorably illustrated, cute Halloween story about a young girl who, with a little help from her two cats comes up with the perfect costume for Halloween. Will she be a princess, a pirate, a ghost, a pumpkin or a ballerina. With all the endless possibilities, Lily not only uses her imagination to come up with her costume ideas, but she creates them, until at last she finds the right one. You'll have to pick up this sweet Hallo...more
