Man, things really ramp up in volume 7. After we wrap up the cliffhanger from Vol. 6, we get two really fantastic cases.

First, Richard Moore is called to a remote island (bringing Rachel and Conan because a potential murder is the place for kids. Well, I guess they've seen so many bodies by this point, what's one more?) by a mysterious note and a half-million-yen retainer. They think he's been called to solve an old murder, but several more bodies turn up in less time than it takes to play the M

Another solid entry in the series.
This volume covers 3 stories (or 0.5 + 1 + 0.5 cases if we’re being specific). The festival case from the previous book is wrapped up, Jimmy and the gang travel to a quiet island town to deal with a mysterious request (and a murderous piano?), and a hostage case related to a soccer player ends in a cliffhanger.

While the cases themselves are complicated and interesting, Jimmy’s cover is getting thinner (especially in this volume) and as an adult reader my interest is wavering a bit because of th

Gosho Aoyama, Clase Closed, vol. 7 (ViZ, 1994)

This is an interesting volume in that unlike most of those we've seen so far, the majority of it is taken up with one large story; a serial killer is at loose on an island with a cursed piano whose owner committed suicide twelve years ago. It's done pretty well until we get to the big reveal, which contains the first really huge flaw I've seen in the series (I can't discuss it without revealing the ending, obviously, but let's say a much-overused mec

"When you called her, she was crying...I don't understand what's going on. I'm the one, who should be crying."

Didn't really enjoy the first one, too many things happening at once and too characters involved, the resolution wasn't even satisfying.

The last one, was a cute and fun read, and ofcouse a bit emotional in the end. This game of hdie and seek Ran and Shinichi are playing are exhausting. *sighs*

- Yutaka Tani
- Keiji Asou
- Masaki Negishi
- Eiichi Yama
This volume was largely concerned with the case of Moon Shadow Island, a complicated story involving multiple murders, crime scenes set to the tune of Moonlight Sonata, and a tragedy over a decade old. The conclusion was elaborate but sad and somewhat heartfelt. This case is then followed up by a lighter story in which Jimmy nearly gets his goose cooked by Rachel. Decent volume.
I could see the story in the island be made as a life action movie. The serial killing and its using of the piano is especially intriguing. The ending is quite heartbreaking giving the story a touch of emotion. The kidnapping story is exciting, too.

I never continued the episodes.

As always loved the volume and every time I want to guess the criminal and I mess up.

The pace and how the mystery begins is a always 5 star!

Quick thoughts: The storyline that makes up the bulk of this volume (7 chapters of 10) is quite good. The chapters that bookend it considerable less so. Overall call it 3.5 rounded up.
