I'm afraid I was not a very big fan of this one. The book starts out with a great action scene, the beginnings of an intriguing mystery, and I really liked Deznee's punky look and sarcastic attitude. Unfortunately, I felt as though she believed everything she was told, asked far too few questions, ran away with Kale far too quickly, and she started to get a little too boy-crazy for my taste.

My Book Boyfriend-Kale!

My 8 reasons why you should read Touch

Touch is one of my favorite books of 2011. There I said it. So don’t be surprised in December when Touch shows up on those lists! I have pre-ordered a paperback copy and I bought it for my Kindle. CRAZY!

I’m writing this review with my heart beating out of my chest and my hands shaking. I have plans to re-read all of this awesomeness again as soon as I’m finished writing this gushing review!

After the above paragraph, you are probably wondering what all the fuss is about. From the first chapter, we are sent on a roller coaster into what I could only describe as a young adult novel with characters who have superhero type powers, but at the same time…entirely different. This seems to be the most fitting way for me to put into words the general theme of this book. Anything I say after the first chapter or so could contain TONS of spoilers, so I’m leaving anything related to this aspect of the story hush, hush.

Our main character Dez is totally bad a*#!!! I’m in love with every single thing about her! She is what a young adult female character should be! She’s rebellious and stands up for what she knows is right.

This book has more layers than a seven-layer dip! Seriously! Once I thought my brain had finally wrapped itself around what was happening, something new was in my face! I had no time to guess any major or even minor plot points! So many twists! The plot was face paced! I can’t believe the author shoved that much action and plot into only 2xx pages! Tons of action! I was wanting to devour every single word. Some action scenes can put me to sleep, not these!

ROMANCE! Dez & Kale! I won’t be able to say enough about these two, but it is one of the best romances in a book I’ve personally read about and enjoyed. Kale is sweet, cute, but more! You just need to read about him for yourself, I’m serious!

The ending was pretty freaking EPIC! Everything came together perfectly, so many different ties that we needed information about. No cliffhanger! That is a total plus, I was reading expecting to throw my e-reader out the window, but Jus Accardo saved us from having to endure torture waiting for book number two. She set the story up brilliantly for another book by adding new elements at the end…she’s just brilliant! Many first books in a series, I can easily pass up reading the subsequent books, but not with the Denazen series!

I will close this review saying I was left with a book high (yep HIGH as a kite!) once I finished that final sentence. If only every book left me and everyone with that same feeling…more people would be avid readers! If the summary didn’t convince you to pick up this book, hopefully my review has done it for you!(less)

I'm fascinated with stories in which people can harm another person with a touch. I loved the way it was executed in Holly Black's Curseworkers series, so I was happy to see a similar concept introduced in this book as well. I love it when you don't know what to expect from a book and it ends up being awesome. Touch was the perfect example. I picked this up thinking it would be just another passable YA paranormal, but it was fantastic. I didn't really know what I expected when I started this book but if definitely wasn't that. Wow. I really enjoyed this book. I definitely didn't expect it to be so action-packed and I was pleasantly surprised with this book.

Dez has always believed her father was a lawyer, since her mother died giving birth to her, her and her father have never been close and she will do anything to piss him off. But then Dez meets Kale, the strange boy who seems to know nothing of the world and is confused and frightened but also fiercely protective. Suddenly Dez discovered that all is not how it seems and she is thrown into a fierce battle that is surfacing between her father's company and the Sixes; people with extraordinary powers who are being used as weapons. But Dez is not as she seems either, she is harbouring a deep secret, one she has fought to protect all her life.

I really enjoyed this book. It definitely wasn't what I expected but that, to me, is a very good thing. I definitely wasn't expecting some of the things that happened.
First off, Dez is one of my favourite heroine's. She is strong and won't take any crap from nobody. She's not afraid to speak her mind and if someone needs punching, well she's the one who'll do it. I love that you see her softer side while she is with Kale, and Kale sees a side of her not many people get to see.
I instantly fell head over heels for Kale. He is the sweetest guy ever. I don't think I have ever sat there and said awwwww so many times while reading one book, but I did with this one. Everytime Kale was speaking to Dez all I could do was go awwwww and yes I looked slightly weird sat there reading on my kindle saying awwww to it out-loud but I don't care. I just love Kale and I cannot wait to see how his and Dez's relationship grows in the next book.

The most surprising thing in this book for me was the ending. I definitely wasn't expecting it. All the way through the book Dez is set on one goal, I won't say what coz that would be a major spoiler and I hate spoilers in reviews, but I definitely wasn't expecting her to get it. I am a little confused as to what will happen in the next book as I definitely expected this to stretch throughout the series. I am really looking forward to the next book and I think this was a great start to a new series.(less)

WOW, my adrenaline is pumping right now. You know how in books the character usually says, “I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding”? Well, I couldn’t breathe the last half of this book. If you are a fan of X-Men or Heroes, then you are going to love Touch by Jus Accardo!

Touch brought out so many emotions in me while reading it. I finished reading it in one sitting and loved everything about it. Putting it down was not an option for me. Of course, after seeing the new cover, I thought with a handsome fellow hot guy like that gracing the front, how could I not want to read what's inside?! And after reading the summary I really knew I had to! Now, I received my e-arc copy in my e-mail after midnight. I stuck it on my kindle, sat in my chair and didn't get up until the wee hours of the morning. From the first part of the book I found Dez's attitude and actions hard to swallow. She's a total daredevil. I'm exactly the opposite. I'm obsessed with safety and I'm the typical helicopter Mother who loves to hover. But very quickly into the book Dez grew on me and I became hooked on her story. And of course Kale's story. I rarely find the male love interests in stories endearing - normally I like them for their confidence or because their sexiness oozes through the pages and while I'm not saying Kale does not possess these qualities; I can definitely say his endearing personality definitely played a huge role in my love for his character.

The action in this never slowed down - the pace kept up throughout reading. And I was caught off guard and surprised quite a few times. The love story is very sweet and had some really hot scenes (probably better suited for mid to older teens). But one of the best parts of the book was the setting: I love settings where characters have superpowers and corporations are out to get them and this fit that love of mine very well.

RECOMMENDED TO
As I said above, if you like an action packed novel full of characters with superpowers trying to fight an evil organization and a good love story thrown in to boot: you'll love this just as much as I did. And even if that type of story makes your eyebrows raise with a little skepticism: I'd still recommend it!

Touch was a powerful, sizzling read that had me on the edge of my mattress (because that's where I was reading it). It has memorable characters, hotties, notties, back-stabbers, an interesting and witty plot, and humor. God, the humor. Kale, oh Kale, how I love you for your obliviousness. Kale is a six, he's been locked up since infancy so he doesn't know what a kiss feels like. Why his heart pounds when he's with Dez? What lime jello tasted like. His hotness makes up for this, though.

The entire book is written in the perspective of Dez, the daughter of our bad guy. She's bad ass, witty, funny, and just an entertaining character to read about. You'll agree with her decisions, feel for her, and most importantly, understand her. You may also relate to her, but on some levels you may not. The thing I liked most about our girl Dez is that she was so human and life-like. She was a living, breathing character that really made this story worth while.

If you love Dez then you have to love Kale. They're a package deal. Can't love one without the other. Why? Because together, they create the most entertaining book ever! Together there are mysteries, love, laughter, anger, fun, thinking, feeling.... yadda yadda yaaa. These two characters make up the story. They are the story. Kale is quite an amusing character. It's just so fun to read about him and his actions. I can't say I didn't smile when ever he talked. He's just so cute.

Aside from the wonderfully crafted characters, Accardo created a story that was unique. It had depth and was well organized. The story made you cry, laugh, and gasp throughout it. Truly one of a kind.

All in all, READ THIS BOOK! If you don't I'll set Kale's hands on you. And you don't want that. You've seen the praise this book has received. It truly deserves it, and truly deserves your read.

Touch was an enjoyable read. We have Dez, our badass main character. I’m so use to the shy, outcast, insecure girl in stories, and Dez was NOTHING like that. She lived to feel something, which meant she did dangerous things, and also lived to piss her dad off. I know she sounds like a brat but she is on my top ten list of awesome girl characters. She was badass but she was sweet (in a way..) and she really is a nice person.

This book was a wild ride, from the moment I started it it was just completely fast paced, but a single dull moment. It's full mystery and suspense. the heroine Dez is so awesome. She's like completely kick-ass, doesn't take any crap from anyone. It was so refreshing to not have a whiny virginal girl lusting after the guy straight away. Kale our hero is swoon worthy and I loved him. After being locked away at Denazen for all his life, he's completely oblivious to the outside world and it just made him so incredibly innocent and adorable. His and Dez's relationship was amazing, they connected from the start and as Kale learns from Dez, Dez also learns from Kale. They share some very intimate moments (I still can't believe those were in a YA book). There were a lot of secondary characters in this book whom created a good dynamic and helped with the pacing of the book. I'm telling ya, you'll be on the edge all the way through, just keep wanting to find out what happens next, keep the pages turning.

Everything was just awesome, and it reads like a action movie. I always enjoy books that involve teenagers realising they have special abilities and this isn't any different. It was so great to see the different kinds of abilities from all the 'Sixes'.

Jus Accardo has managed to create a fantastic world which I look forward to learning more about in the future books. So if you're looking for a fun thrilled ride of action, hot kissing, a kick ass heroine and an adorable (and hot) hero, then definitely pick this book up. I'm so glad Donna pushed me into reading this. It was refreshing and new, and I look forward to reading book two! Especially considering the way this one ended...omg.(less)

Figuring that bringing a boy home would make her father furious she invites Kale to her house. She soon finds out that Kale is a "six". Sixes are special kids who have powers. Powers that can tell the truth, move things with their mind, or even kill. When Dez realized her father is not the man she thought he was, her and Kale escape. But there are secrets every where. Can Dez do what's right to save Kale from Denazen? Or even more... will she be able save herself?

Jus Accardo created such a brilliant story with Touch. The story line, the characters, the sexiness, the laughs, the thrills... it's all so brilliantly done. I love the world of "sixes". Honestly, I wish I was one! I don't know what I'd want my power to be. I mean, changing dreams, touch, shape-shifter, reading thoughts, being able to move things, being a healer... there are endless possibilities. The whole story is one thrill after another and the world is modern yet so creative and I loved every single bit of it.

The first character I need to talk about is Dez. She's not your typical female role, and it's a fact I love about her. She has blonde hair with black streaks, face piercings, she parties, acts out, she's funny and strong-willed, and so bad-ass. Also, all her best friends seem to be guys.... this is me! I completely understand having mostly guy friends. I just click with them better, as it seems Dez does. Dez is so persistent and clever, and I adored her.

So, yeah the boys. There's lots of them! *squeee*! I'm going to talk about two in particular: Alex and Kale. Okay, lets start with Alex. So, many people will probably disagree with me after reading the whole book, but I honestly really liked Alex. First off, he's sexy as hell. Next, even though he may not have made all the right choices, I understand why he made them. Almost everything Alex has done was out of love for Dez and that made me like him so much more. There were times when I wanted to kiss Alex and others where I wanted to kick him in the shins, but that being said, I am really fond of his character because I kind of relate to him. I also don't think Dez would be where she is today without him. And I'm hoping we will see more of him in book two.

KALE. Oh Kale. First, scroll up and look at that cover! LOOK AT HIM. Yes, Kale is the definition of SEXY. I am so jealous that Dez can touch him. I mean death may be worth trying to touch him.... mmm bad idea. Kale is 100% one of my new book boyfriends [so everyone back off ;)]. Any who, I loved Kale. He grew up basically trapped and caged and when he finally gets out he experiences so much with Dez. I was constantly laughing at some of things Kale does because he doesn't know any better. Example: "We took off our shirts." HAH. There are so many more adorable, cute, "aww" moment lines from Kale, watching him experience everything was just one of the many things I loved about him. But, Kale is so much more than that. He's strong, not to mention powerful, but he has has such a pure heart and his head is always in the right place. I cannot rave enough about this boy.

There are so many other characters that make this story what it is as well. Cross, Dax, Ginger, Sue, Brandt... and the list goes on.

Jus Accardo blew me away with Touch, and I honestly am dying for the sequel. I love the world, the story, the characters, and every feeling she gave me while reading. Touch was the perfect mix of everything for me. Just enough thrill, just enough laughs, just enough kick-ass, just enough sexiness, and just enough sweetness. I couldn't have asked for a better story from her. Bring on the next one please!! :)

What a brilliant start to this wonderful new series by Jus Accardo. Touch is the first book in the Denazin series and had me glued to the pages from the first to the very last.

WELL. I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. Not because I'd heard bad reviews or anything, I just thought that it was going to be full of plot holes the size of craters. Why? I don't know.

Dez is an interesting character. She's easy to relate to most of the time, and she wasn't weak and never whined. She did whatever she had to do to save Kale and the others she loved. My only problem with her was that I would have liked to seen a little more vulnerability in her, or maybe a hobby that...more WELL. I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. It would have made her easier to connect with.

I loved the concept of Sixes. Sixes are a person with a special power - some can control fire, some can kill with a touch, some can see the future, etc. I really liked how all of them had different powers. It was interesting to see how they all worked together.

And Kale. I loved that boy. He was so innocent about some things, but at the same time, he was strong and fierce. And even if he was kind of a killer, he was still adorable ;D

Even if I loved the book and its plot, there were still a few things I had problems with. The pacing, for one thing. The pacing of Dez and Kale's relationship seemed fine, but the pace of the book in general seemed a little too fast for me. Also, I would have liked to know a little more of Denazen, the corporation running the entire shebang, stealing Sixes off the street and forcing them to kill others, basically. I want to know how it was started. Most of all, I want to understand Dez's dad's motives for doing what he did. Of course, this is only the first book in a series, so maybe some of that will be explained later, but so far, all I've got is "He did it because he's evil."

As for the writing style, I have no idea what I think of it. It wasn't beautiful, but it wasn't choppy and amateur. It wasn't ridiculously simple or complicated. I really didn't think about it at all while I was reading the book. There were quite a few mistakes, but since what I read isn't a finalized copy, I can't really complain about that, can I? :P

Overall: Touch is an intriguing novel full of suspense and amazing characters. While I was left with a few too many questions, it was an awesome read. 4 stars.(less)

Jus Accardo writes killer chemistry with an action packed and emotional story. Touch is possibly the best read of the year for YA paranormal romance, certainly one of the best debut novels of the year.

This book was absolutely amazing! If it wasn't for Divergent already stealing that place in my heart, I think Touch would be my top read of 2011. But it still has the much honoured place of runner-up (as far as I am concerned).

The story kind of reminded me up a mash-up between X-Men and Heroes (a television series I adore). In fact...if you know the series at all then you might understand my next comment. There is a neat character in Touch that seriously reminds me of Sylar from Heroes. If you have watched the series, and have read the book, tell me if you thought the same thing.

This book had some fabulous characters, both main and supporting. I cared about almost each and every one of them. I didn't want anything bad to happen to any of them (except those one or two really nasty ones of course). I fell in love with Kale instantaneously. His naivety and tenderness shine through despite everything he has been trained to believe and do. This provides the appropriate direct opposite to the female lead, Dez, who is a fiery young woman hell-bent on making her father's life a living Hell as much as possible. At first Dez annoyed me a bit with her out-of-control attitude and constant use of foul language. Over time I discovered the reasons behind her actions and was able to grow and mature along with here throughout each and every page, and it was a journey well worth taking. (And I'd do it again in a heartbeat.)

I also appreciate that the authour didn't feel it necessary to hold us hostage with a nasty cliffhanger to get us to read the next book in the series. To tell you the truth, I give way more credit to the authors who can make me want to read the next book(s) in their series without leaving me in a gut-wrenching "Oh my God what next!" kind of spot. So kudos to Jus Accardo. She is one of the few who have gotten this right!(less)

I enjoyed this book more than I expected to. The first chapter was a bit confusing, but after that it was fast paced and interesting. Many things happen and I really liked the plot and the characters.

The only minpoint concerning the story is the fact that some events are a bit unbelieveable. Some things are too easy, while other things are not. And sometimes it just doens't make sense how some people react. But the story was really good and I enjoyed reading this book. I just wanted to keep reading and see what was going to happen next.

I really liked Deznee, the lead character, she is an adrenaline junkieand this explains much of her behavior. She loves to do crazy things. She is a believeable character and I really liked reading about her. It was just a bit different from other characters I've read about. And then kale I really liekd him, he has been through so much, but still is so innocent and naive most of the times. Also somewtimes he was a bit socially awkard because he didn't knew much about social customs. This makes him even more adorable and cute! The side characters are many and we actually don't get a lot of information about them. The author did give them enough characteristics so that it was easy to remember who was who.

The world building actually lacked a bit in my opinion. While the story is written very good and much attention is paid to what actually is happening, there is little time for explanation about why things are the way they are and how the gifts of some people work. Often we only get a little explantion what someone can do, but not enough information about how it really works and what are the limits. It wasn't like I really missed the world building, but more like that after I finished the book I was wondering about things and realized how less explantion was given about some things. While reading the book, you don't really miss the world building. Enough is explaned to make the story flow good.

To conclude: I really liked this book. The story is enjoyabel and fast paced and the two main characters are really likeable. I would've prefered a bit more world building, mainly about interest, it wasn't really missing.(less)
