As a Disney Park afficianado, I have MANY favorite books about the creation of Disneyland, but to recreate the history of the park through the MANY postcards created to market it and entice future visitors was truly inspired. Add too the love of the authors for the subject and you'll feel as if you're being regaled with magnificent story after story by friends who love Disneyland as much (and possibly more) than you!

I bought this a while back because it's just a beautiful book. It has examples of Disneyland's postcards, from before the park even opened, until the publishing of the book. It's the kind of thing I'd display on my coffee table (if I had one, LOL). However, I finally got around to actually reading it, and it's also full of lots of wonderful trivia. It was actually a very enjoyable read. (Did you know that there actually used to be an "intimate apparel" shop on Main Street, USA?!)

The jokey authorial voice can be grating--they rarely reach single-entendres, nevermind doubles--but the content is fascinating and painstaking. I'll have a long relationship with this book.

The must have book for Disneylandphiles. Unfortunately, the book is no longer in print, and you will most likely have to fork out a couple hundred dollars to get a copy, but it is SO worth it.
