It's a very good way to spend apx. 65 dollars! No matter the price, you will not be disappointed. This series is perfect for Vampire/Paranormal Romance/Horror lovers. It's full of action, suspense and romance, what's not to love? I would give this for a giftt in an instant and if I was the one to have gotten this as a gift, I'd be thrilled. J.R Ward knows hows to write a amazing story. She can write a mans mind like no other, and makes you believe the males perspective of the story more than any ...more

Well... it took about a year and a half from buying the series to actually being able to finish the first book (after picking it up 3 times) and I had to admit I was kind of annoyed that I didn't like the book everytime I put it down I kept thinking "I cannot believe I spent $65 on this!" but that last time I read "Dark Lover" I was completely hooked.

The plot. I thought that the plot of all of these books were amazing! They were so fast paced, had so many twists and just seemed to get better and

The start of an obsession

No matter what I post on here, nothing will top my adoration for J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood. This series has truly changed me. So how did I come across my new love? By chance and what I like to believe is fate.

I went to the library to pick up an Anne Rice book that the catalog said was in stock, but when I got there it wasn’t where it should have been. So I just started looking through the book spines and waiting for something to grab me.

Wrath’s deep red Dark L

These books are the hottest most delicious, erotic, thrilling and wickedly sexy books I have ever opened to read. They are about a brotherhood of 6 warrior vampires who were born and breed to protect the vampires from their enemies the lessening society. The books start out with the Blind King Wrath who is the only pure blooded vampire on the face of the earth. And he is a hot lover, warrior fighter, a smart male who mates with Beth and comes in to his own as King. Book 2 is about the brother Rh ...more

……..Warning this review contains spoilers and images……

J.R. Ward, aka The WARDen, has introduced us to a new realm of Vampires; while developing a series of intense novels that will take you to the deepest darkest place of despair and passion.

The series is read from many points of view, and I found it difficult to keep up at times; however, once you learn the characters you will find yourself yearning for them.

It is noted that I am biased to some of the characters and their points of views!!!!

Wow, these are literary crack. I usually can't stand romance novels but these were a lot of fun and wickedly delicious. I really enjoyed them and they flew past. I should include a warning to all my friends, they contain explicit sexual content and lots of language.

With the exception of the first book in this series, it reads like badly written fan fiction, which is somewhat ironic considering JR Ward's stance on fan fiction. The series contains massive plot holes, an over-the-top colloquial writing style, and predictable plots. Also, the author has no conception of how to use a question mark--not to mention the British vernacular used by people living in upstate New York. I'll just mention the irritating use of the word "loo" by a native New Yorker for exa ...more

Good series. Characters are great, you get to feel connected and plenty of good fighting. 4 stars only because each story had the same kind of predictability outcome. But each brother has their own battles to over come so that helps keep you interested along with their world within our world and try to stay hidden.

I suppose if I can admit to having read Charlaine Harris' Sookie books, I have to cop to these as well. Though I started out with no expectations of reading the whole series, I found I was too intrigued and engaged to stop. Second surprise was that it wasn't the "romance" that kept me reading. The author's inventive modern vernacular and the witty dialog exchange between the characters became the joy the kept the pages flying. Now add a great story arc wherein the characters' complexities are ex ...more

Why I read this book:
I think I picked up Dark Lover, the first book the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward, while wandering a book store in search of a romance/erotica book that would hold my attention. I have a notoriously short attention span when it comes to cliched romance novels. After that I was hook and had to read the rest of the series. I remember wishing when I got to the end of the first book that there was more about the other brothers (Dark Lover focuses on Wrath). Guess wha

I find this series to be quite good. I enjoyed every last bit of detail about the Brothers. The first in the series was Dark Lover and was about Wrath who becomes the future king. He is a pure blooded vampire who falls for Darius' daughter Beth. She had no idea who she was until Wrath was asked to protect her through her transition. These vampires didn't drink the blood of humans either. They have either their mates or what they call The Chosen who lived somewhere Out there . I don't remember

J. R. Ward has reinvented the vampire novel with the introduction of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. An enjoyable new take on the vampire lore; where vampires are the hero-types and not necessarily the bad guys, where vampires are born not made and where vampires have to feed off each other to survive. The actual "bad guys" are the vampire hunters, the lessers, who were once human, but gave up their souls to join the Lessenig Society.

Let me first start with what a bargain this set was. Six books for $25 or so pleases me.

I have to admit to at first being disappointed with Dark Lover. I really prefer my vampires with a true blood lust, so the fact that they only feed periodically and only off of other vampires was a bit of a let down. Then I realized that this is really a romance novel with vampire stuff thrown in. Once I came to that realization I found myself hot for these hot men.

Warning: CONTAINS SPOILERS!

These books are wonderful. I have devoured each book ravenously from cover to cover. The moment a new one came out, I would take a trip to the book store and grab a copy. These books are not about twinkling-in-the-sun vampires and pubescent werewolves. Oh no. These vampires are powerful, one hundred percent mature, and sexy as hell. The Black Dagger Brotherhood is a race of warrior vampires who are caught in a vicious battle with the lessers, a race of impotent, baby-p

All things considered this is not a bad series. It's just not a good series. Still, sometimes you just want fries with that, and this is like a Big Mac. You know it's not good for you but it tastes okay going down. Most of the time, anyway.

If all you want is "tune in and drop out" entertainment, read The Black Dagger Brotherhood now. It's not really anything you haven't read before (save a tweak here and there) but even with its stereotypical ideas of what's male and female it can be a fun ride

I'm sadly addicted to this god awful series. I find myself cringing at the language and the over the top male dominance of these characters, yet... I still burn through these books. Ward does a good job of dividing the romance up with the other aspects of the story so that it's not just an overwhelming women's version of soft core porn. Though it goes against all of my academic nature I will still continue reading this series and secretly enjoy all the delightful vulgarities it has to offer.

These easy reading book are really fun. The quality and writing and storyline is pretty good.
I'm not a big romance novel reader, and was pleasantly surprised that these don't really fall into that category. They are more drama/adventure with a romance flare.
I started reading this series while I await the new Outlander or Game of Thrones books. But kinda got hooked. They are easy to pickup and put down so I don't get disoriented if I haven't picked it up in a bit.

I read a lot of crappy supernatural romance in my time, usually between the hours of 7 and 11 pm. None of them, save the ones that are purely ebooks and aren't even edited and have main characters named Jax Mackenzie, are as terrible as this series. Granted, I could barely get through the fourth and fifth books, and didn't read the sixth. However, I'm pretty sure I can predict that nothing interesting will happen, and each story will be the same as the last: boring, predictable and filled with s ...more

I was VERY apprehensive about reading since these are considered "romance" novels. After months of being harassed by my sister to read just the first one I finally caved. I was hooked. While I could do without the "romance" parts of the novel, I really like the characters and have enjoyed the story lines. I'm actually excited to read the rest of the series.

Gotta love it for what it is and be honest with yourself. Perhaps it'll show in my favorite Black Dagger Boy - Rage. Where else could you read about a bitchy, insanely gorgeous, tattooed and buff vampire with a flippant attitude towards everything except his mate and brothers. Who stomps around barefoot or in flip flops (when not in battle boots and leather) scarfs down candy and smacks away at lolly pops and morphs into a dragon like beastie? He is my gregarious and gorgeous comic relief... and ...more

I'm absolutely crazy for the BDB. Ward owns my attention and desire to read. Shes fun, edgy, hip - a whole new reading experience for me! These first 6 books are the original Brothers. The dearest to my heart now that we're - what 12 or 13 books in! The world shes built and continues to grow and manage is stunning! The way she weaves everything together is utterly genius. She even has the Fallen Angel series woven within this world. The ride has been so long and wild and creative - I'm ready to g ...more

I bought the series after a friend suggested it to me. J.R. Ward is an exceptional writer. I love her metaphors and similes. I love the rawness of her character's feelings. But I wasn't crazy about the lack subtlety in most of her romances. (Lover Awakened excluded. I loved that book!) I like a little more build-up between my MC's and most of these stories revolved around a wham bam, I have to have that woman now! Given that the books were about a warrior group of vamps, it worked on one level. ...more
