Here's a new author-to-me and I was impressed. I saw a review on this, it grabbed my attention, and with one-click, it was mine! Another series set in a small town but a little different because of the Alaskan setting. The characters are what made this one a hit with me. If you're looking for something fun, light and romantic, I recommend it. I particularly enjoyed the big splash of sizzling heat -- maybe it has something to do with the change in the weather, or maybe something else entirely!! A ...more

This was such a good start to an awesome series and I came to care about all the people we met.
The three grandmothers who wanted to get their grand-sons married, a potential romance between the doctor and a grandmother, the grieving widower Jack and Jess, Mick and Grier and even Avery and her teenage romance with hockey star Roman beyond the main romance between Sloan and Walker.

Never married, 33 year old, Sloan McKinley is having mother issues (her's is nagging her to get married and setting her up on horrible dates with eligible, rich, dirtbags). So when best friend Grier Thompson calls her from Alaska and begs for help with an inheritance problem, Sloan drops everything and books a flight to middle of nowhere Alaska. (Oh how I envy her. It's always been my dream to live in Alaska.) Unluckily for her, she lands right in the middle of a bachlorette shindig. The towns r ...more

“I see picnics and dates with you, Walker. And it pisses me off. You’re supposed to be fling material and instead you look at me the way you do and you engage in snowball fights and you even think I’m sexy in the most hideous hat in the entire world. So, yeah. You make me think of mushy shit.”

What a fun book. I really like romances that take place in Alaska (something about long cold nights and rugged men) and this was one of the best ones I've read. Sloan got a call from her friend Grier and headed up to Alaska for some moral support. Pretty soon she found herself involved in the local bachelor contest while writing an article about it. She was especially interested in Walker, who was interested in her on a purely temporary basis - or so he thought. Sloan was a very independent mode ...more

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this contemporary romance from Addison Fox. The premise, which is that a trio of Alaska grandmothers hold a yearly competition where bachelorettes compete for the honor of dating their grandsons, could have been too twee for words. But it was just a hook for what turned out to be a fun, and pitch perfect tale about friendship (both male and female), family, and falling in love. There were several relationships threaded throughout the story and I worried th ...more
I'm so glad I picked this book up at the library. It's my first book by Fox and I wasn't disappointed. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. Again wishing for the half star. This is probably closer to a 3 1/2 star, but is getting the round up since I loved the women in this book. They are strong, witty, and loyal.

Sloane was a great lead. She didn't take any crap and was ready to fight for her friend and once the romance picked up herself. She didn't let anyone walk all over her and I loved that. Ev

This is a pretty cute little romance set in the snowy town of Indigo in Alaska. Sloan is a very middle class New Yorker who, much to the horror of her mother, is over 30 and as yet unwed.

Her friend Grier has gone to Indigo to resolve an inheritance issue with the Father she never knew and calls on Sloan to come and visit her. Sloan agrees and her and Grier befriend Avery who works in the local hotel/bar. These 3 girls will feature as the heroines of the 3 novels (so far) of the Alaska Nights tri
Really 2.5 stars, this had lots of potential. Fox is great at setting up her series, since there are three (yes, that many) other romances that seem very interesting, but the main romance, between Sloan and Walker just has no chemistry. To make matters worse, every scene that leads up to sex doesn't seem as though it should equal these two suddenly falling into bed. That said, the black moment is equally obscure, and most of the conversations these two have lends one to think 'what just happened? ...more
A really great book by a new-to-me author Addison Fox.
This book is the beginning of her contemporary series about three friends in a small town in Alaska.
The first book is about a freelance journalist and the town lawyer who come together through their mutual friend/client Grier and sort of find love and happiness around the time of the Bachelor Games. A competition designed by three of the towns Grandmothers in a effort to get their grandsons married off.
The book includes lots of fun charact

Book 1 of the Alaskan Nights series and we see Sloan McKinley rush off from New York to Alaska to support her best friend Grier. Grier had been up in Alaska trying to settle her late (and absent) father's will but was stuck in a battle with a half-sister that was fighting her for everything. When Sloan arrives, she's just in time for the town's annual Bachelor auction set by the town's matriarch's many years ago.

Sloan is immediately attracted to the town (and Grier's) lawyer, Walker Montgomery -

Baby, It's Cold Outside Book Review Well, this was just dumb. Not a whole lot happened and I really didn't feel anything for the main characters. And for a romance I feel like that's pretty necessary.

Sloan Mckinley is off to Alaska when her good friend is in need of help after inheriting a large property much to her town's distaste. What Sloan doesn't expect to find is Walker Montgomery. She has to make a decision, head home to NYC or stay in the winter wilderness that is Alaska.

I was enthralled with this book and it's characters from page one. The is the first book I've read from this author (upon seeing this YouTube video) and I've already purchased book two and pre-ordered book three in this series.

Of the ladies in Indigo, Alaska, I have to say Sloan, Avery, Amanda and Jessica were my favorites. Although Grier is Sloan's best friend and the reason she came to Alaska, I didn't really like her at times. I just couldn't figure what her problem was.

With a premise like this one, I was immediately intrigued: a freelance magazine journalist flies to Alaska from New York to help out a friend in need, and ends up embroiled in a small town's annual "Great Bachelor Competition," in which bachelorettes compete for the most eligible bachelors in town. I anticipated a fun-filled rollercoaster, and I got one. I loved this sweet contemporary romance. It is my first by Addison Fox, and I have found a great new author to read. Baby It's Cold Outside is book one in the Alaskan Nights series.

Sloan McKinley has lived her thirty-some years of life as a confirmed New Yorker and freelance journalist. Basically, she coasts day to day trying to dodge her mother's matchmaking attempts and trying to ignore the gossip mill and widespread disappointment in her single status. When Sloan gets a frantic call f

I am sad to say that this was my first book by Addison Fox and I know it won't be my last!

This was the first romance that I have read that takes place in Alaska. I think that was what first intrigued me about this book. All that cold weather and body heat to warm each other up, yep....had to be romantic and steamy...and Ms. Fox does not disappoint.

I've heard some incredibly diverse reviews for this series. Some people claim the heroine is too perfect. Some claim the book is about 150 pages too long. Some just love it. I love it when a book has polarized responses because then I read it, wondering which side of the fence I'll be on.

Sloan McKinley is having a tough time as her mother constantly tries to fix her up with every guy with a pulse. Sloan isn't happy about it but h

My Review:

This isn't a holiday book per se, but it does take place in snowy Alaska during the holiday season, so I snuck it into my holiday read pile. This book was a really good contemporary romance. It is the first book in a trilogy and you get to see glimpses and see the beginnings of all three romances that the series is going to follow. This book is about Sloan & Walker. When an inheritance mess leaves her best friend, Grier, stressed out and frantic, Sloan McKinley does what any best friend would do; she hops on a plane to Alaska to help Grier out. As soon as she arrives, Sloan can see that Grier needs all the help she can get to win the townspeople of Indigo over. Luckily for Grier, Sloan knows how to turn on the charm.

Baby Its Cold Outside by Addison Fox is the first book in her Alaskan Nights contemporary romance series.

Freelance writer Sloan McKinley journeys to Indigo, Alaska, to help her friend Grier Thompson, who is embroiled in a dispute over an inheritance with a half-sister that Grier never knew she had. But Sloan is determined to use her New York charm to get the townspeople on Grier's side. When she gets to Indigo, Sloan also finds out that the town hosts an annual bachelor competition that attracts
I first picked up Baby It's Cold Outside because it is set in Alaska. I'm obsessed with Alaska lately because I believe I need to be an Alaskan Mob Princess. I don't actually want to do any mob-type stuff; I just like the name. I digress. BICO was more than the setting and more than the cheesy quick read that I guessed it would be.

Review from Backchatting Books

Sloan McKinlay would do anything for Grier and when she gets a frantic SOS text from her friend, Sloan drops everything and heads up to Indigo, a small town in the Alaskan wilderness. Grier has just inherited a property from her estranged father but her half-sister Kate is kicking up a stink. Kate has got the whole town on her side, leaving Grier literally and figuratively out in the cold. Sloan’s visit (un)fortunately coincides with Indigo’s annual Bachelorette com

Oh my gosh! I grabbed this book a few months ago (shortly before Christmas), and put it in my "to be read" pile. I'm so glad I picked it up!

Sloan McKinley is an ugly-duckling turned swan, and still single, much to her mothers shame. After yet another bad date Sloan flies from Manhattan to Alaska after a phone call from her best friend Grier. Grier is shunned by all the residents in the small town after she flies in to claim the house her father left to her in his will. Sloan arrives in town and

Addison Fox can’t remember a time when words weren’t a part of her life. An avid reader, her love of the written word started at the tender age of 1 with The Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear (a poem she could recite by heart to any family member who would listen). Dr. Seuss, C.S. Lewis, Judy Blume and a host of others quickly followed until she discovered THE CLAN OF THE CAVE BEAR by Jean M. Au ...more
