Lisa M. Taylor writes in the genres of the paranormal and fantasy and takes a reader on an incredible ride in her book, The Hour of Tiamat. The story weaves together many wonderful and timeless themes but the tale of the quest, of the heroic journey toward redemption, is chief among them. Drawing upon the legacy of Lovecraft, and adding dimensions from Sumerian lore and her own imagination and experience, Ms. Taylor presents a fascinating story with great pacing and a solid style. I loved the bo...more

Four teens gather in the woods to perform an ancient Sumerian ritual. They’ve practiced for years. They’ve created all their own tools, patterned in this world after the designs in a sacred book. And now it’s time. The end of the world, 2012, is coming soon, and these teens will stand at the front, ushering in a new age on the blood of others. Meanwhile one lonely, innocent girl follows them. And a little boy cries.

What do you get when you mix three misled teens, one sociopath leader, a girl with a tragic past and unsatisfying present, a ghost and a strange little boy who likes to cry in the woods? A roller coaster ride towards the end of the world!
How far would you go to stop the end of the world? To save the one you love, even if they can’t love you anymore? Would you go to hell just to be close to someone?
Tristan can’t believe he’s been stupid enough to follow Celicia, Malaki and Tara as they plot to...more
I received this from the author to review and, let me be honest, my attention was caught by the synopsis. Now, I’m not a huge fan on end of the world/apocalyptic type stories (I’m not a huge angels/demons epic clash kind of person. I like the demons side though…) but this seemed pretty darn interesting. In the end it really was.
Now, I’ll lay it out straight, I’m a bit conflicted about this. I truly enjoyed the story. Like, I really liked it. I had some issue with the point of view whiplash th...more

Interesting story with turn and twist, keeps you involve to the end, I could not put away until last page...
I do recommend this book, as Lisa Taylor able to create something magical as when you read her book
you looking inside yourself... - murder, demons, love, Necronomicon... strangely but craftly mix tougher.
I do hope Lisa Taylor would continue her book, as I would love to read more...

Firstly, let me say that I received a copy of this to review as part of the Goodreads First Reads programme. Thanks very much to Lisa for sending me a copy.
The premise interested me from the start, although my initial thought was that the book seemed quite short. The writing was good and the characters were for the most part well developed. My main concern was I felt that the end of the book wrapped up rather hurriedly and could have stood to be fleshed out some more. It felt to me that the paci...more

The first few chapters of this book kind of freaked me out. I wasn’t sure where the demons were coming from and why they were released to kill. As I read further I realized what was going on and why the whole thing needed to be stopped. The characters calling the demons were quite scary, I didn’t care for them at all. The group trying to stop them was more fully developed and of course I was cheering for them to succeed.
I think the book was interesting and after about reading half of the book I...more
