Woah woah woah that was awesome.
IT'S OVEEERRR *sobs*
What a great way to end such a great series. Kelley Armstrong, you're fantastic.
Just to get this out of the way: DEREK AND CHLOE AND SIMON AND TORI SHOWED UP AND EVERYTHING WAS BEAUTIFUL

The only reason why I did rate this book 4 stars instead of five was that it, surprisingly, started out slow for me. The first 70 or so pages were kind of lagging. The last half of the book, however, was everything I could've hoped for.

AFTER READING:
This book is most definitely the best book in the series!
So much happens in this book, many questions do get answered, and, yes, we get to see are friends from Darkest Powers again!
Was there anything I didn't like about this book? Not really, but there are some things that I wish we got to see more of.
1. Our friends from Darkest Powers.
They only appeared during the last 1/4 of the book. While I don't like how they weren't in the book as often as I hoped, I understand. We have alrea...more

I AM SO FREAKING EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK!!!!!!! If I had to choose only one book to read in 2013 it would have to be this one. I have waited two years to see Chloe, Derek, Simon, and Tori again. I loved those guys, and while I was happy with the ending, I was not satisfied.
Darkness Rising has been a good series. I love Rafe and Maya together and I love Daniel as well. I like the characters a lot in Darkness rising, but this trilogy doesn't have the amazing plots that Darkest Powers did. I loved t...more

Can't wait to read this book! Love the cover, I like the Darkness Rising Trilogy but I miss the characters from The Darkest Powers Trilogy, and now that they are coming back I'm even more excited to read this book. Just Oh my gosh, it's been like two years since I finished TDP but I still remember all of them, I can't wait to read more about Chloe & Derek & Simon and the rest of the gang. I hope something good happens for Simon because he just got kinda dumped in the third book and nothi...more
Looking forward to seeing Derek and Chloe again.
Let me first start by saying that I won this ARC through Kelley Armstrong's news letter. If you have not read any of her books I strongly recommend you do. Especially her Darkest Powers Trilogy and her Darkness Rising Trilogy. They are wonderful to get into and read. They keep you wondering what will happen next.
I will not get into to many details about this book because it will just give away all the secrets and ruin much of the book. Which I feel is the reason why Kelley Armstrong does not pos...more

Yep, you've seen that right. I gave 3 stars to the last book in one of my top fav trilogy of all time, and also to one of my fav authors. I also gave 3 stars to a book i have been anticipating and dying to read for about a year. Disappointment won't describe how i feel, more like shock. And i don't mean 'shock' in a good kind of way. My hopes and believe in the author went straight to hell. It was like being slapped in the face, man.

I hope to see Chloe and Derek back in this trilogy. April.. why are you so far away?
The Rising
is an incredibly adventurous and exciting conclusion to Kelley Armstrong's Darkness Rising series. It will absolutely stun and wow readers, as they embark on an intriguing, adventure filled journey. Armstrong does a wonderful job of revisiting uncovering old secrets that have been hidden away and the return of unexpected characters that will leave readers feeling like they've just ran into an old friend. It is a whirlwind of emotions that are unexpected and goes from one extreme to t...more

This book was beautiful. From the start I loved the series, and after The Calling I hurried off to read the DP books.
I loved the epilogue, especially Page 406. Oh, Daniel, I'm so happy for you. I loved you from the start, too.
Spoilers Ahead
What I didn't like was the overall ending -- the negotiating. All kids from both series seemed to just settle into their new lives so easily, going back to the Cabal - like nothing had happened. They returned to the Nasts. I coudnt believe after all they've b...more

A good ending to a sister series, The Darkest Powers. It's as fast paced as I expected, though not as much as The Darkest Powers, but I like Armstrong's writing style for its quickness! I'm delighted to say that readers, we finally get the conclusion we've all been waiting for!
We follow up on the wandering troupe as they continue running, we finally get some answers, and we get to see our old friends from The Darkest Powers which was really nice! Especially since I felt the ending to the third...more

A brief glance at this ‘review’ and you can probably tell that it’s a positive one, what with all of those exclamation marks.
I LOVED IT!
The most amazing thing was that although it ended quite ambiguously in terms of their future with the cabals, questions from the first trilogy were answered, as well as from this one. It also ended on a hopeful, and somewhat cheesy, note. (And, let’s face it, I'm a sucka for that kinda stuff!)

I loved this book so much better than both the second and third. Kelley Armstrong is amazing at finding just the perfect ending. While I was happy with the Genesis Trilogy's ending, this book manages to blow it out of the water by perfectly wrapping up both trilogies. Maya, Daniel, and the gang are still being hunted but along the way they find more help and sometimes from the most unlikely sources. She even introduces a critical new character that is sure to surprise you. You will come to love...more
After loving the first 2 books and recommending Kelley Armstrong to people as, "the best at YA supernatural romance," I was unhappily disappointed in this book.
To begin with, a lot of the dialogue was just dumb. "Did she just call me cute?" "Did you just flirt with my boyfriend?" Give me a break.
The whole conclusion where they decide to give in and surrender basically...it does seem like the smart thing to do but only because the scary enemies have been replaced by different family members that...more

It was a great book..until the end. I mean seriously, it practically gave me whiplash. The whole series she's with Rafe then all of a sudden she's with Daniel...and it happened in the epilogue...that's stupid. It was pretty much all about Rafe and Maya then out of no where she's with him...really? Get real.
I really, honestly, only read this because Derek and Chloe were in it. As it turned out I got more than Chloe and Derek, I also got their whole story line with some differ...more

Maya and company are on the run from the Nast and St Cloud Cabals but realize they will have to reach a settlement with the groups in order to regain control of their lives.
Warning, spoilers ahead...
What I Liked -
Calvin Antone - A very sympathetic portrayal of a character who is technically on the "bad guy" side. I rooted for him throughout the series. He never had a chance to be a father to his twins and wanted to connect with the two so badly.
Ash & Maya - I found their initial meetings re...more

On many levels I really liked this book. It wasn't as open ended of an ending as Thirteen, but I thought it all came together in a nice way, and I feel good about the way that this series ended.
Longtime readers of Armstrong will understand what I mean when I say that you don't always like the narrator, but it still keeps you reading. 3.5 stars - Spoilers
This was the best book in the trilogy, that's not to say it was good, it was just okay for the most part. The main reason I gave it 3.5 stars was because The Darkest Power gang made an appearance and because I liked the ending… Not the romantic ending just the resolution between the bad guys (the Cabals/the Nasts/the St Clouds) and good guys (the teens - Maya, Chloe, Daniel…).
-I was disappointed that most of the story consisted of Maya and co running from the bad guys, gettin...more

Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed.
