A quick and wonderful read! Maria Daddino writes so beautiful and includes wonderful, but not overwhelming details. All the stories told are heartwarming and sweet.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Maria's Duck Tales is lovely little book filled with stories that warm the heart, make you want to laugh and sometimes cry. This is a record of one woman's experiences as she cares for the loveable wildlife in her own back yard. The ducks, geese, squirrels and dogs that called her yard home all had a story to tell. I was easily transported into Maria's world. I could envision angry geese honking trying to protect their nest and anxious little baby duck...more

Maria’s Duck Tales by Maria Daddino is exactly what the title suggests - a collection of acutely observed accounts of the antics of this author’s favourite birds. But we’re not limited to ducks. There are stories about other ‘wild-friends’ including ospreys, Fatso and Gypsy the squirrels, Sara Beth and Diablo the geese, and Misty and Gypsy the collies. There are mentions too of opossums, groundhogs and deer. But the ducks, the Muscovies and the Pekins, are undeniably the stars. One of the most e...more

"Maria's Duck Tales" came to my attention during the Global eBook Awards ceremony, during which it won in its category. I made a note to myself that this book needed to go on my reading list, and I'm glad I did.

Maria Daddino's prose is lovely as she writes about her beloved ducks, birds and other wildlife visitors to the gardens at her various homes. She talks about the importance of animals to ecological balance, and the importance of caring for wildlife in urban areas ... but most of all, she...more

Verdict: Maria’s Duck Tales – Wildlife Stories from my Garden is a delightful and informative, stirring set of tender and educational animal stories for nature lovers, young and old.

A collection of stories about the ducks that lived in the author’s backyard and taught her about Mother Nature’s hope and heartbreak.

The sweet and sad parts were a little too contrasting to me. Plus, I know Maria is the author, but I just didn't like her as a character in the book that much. I wanted a little more about the animals and a little less about her. You could tell that she knows a TON about nature and I know she won a TON of awards for this book, but just for me none of that didn't make me all that happy with the book. It certainly wasn't a terrible book, and there were certain parts I did really like, but that's t...more

I received this through a goodreads giveaway. Its a nice and quick read. I loved the cover and especially her packaging, I couldn't wait to read it but I hated taking the ribbon off, it just looked so nice. The stories were cute and heartwarming and conveyed a range of emotions as I read them.

Very detailed, with a wide range of personalities given to the visitors to Maria’s gardens. I found the book very endearing and light hearted.
