A well written fresh look at the European architecture as an ongoing process with blending of the styles, regional enclaves and different speeds of communication, presented as a function of the continental economic and demographic processes. I was glad to see a number of previously underrepresented buildings but which to me were characteristical of the porous nature of the borders, indirect collaboration and the simultaneous birth of a similar ideas in locations far apart from each other. Hans Ibelings is a Dutch architecture critic, writer and exhibition maker. He is chief editor and founder of A10, Magazine for New European Architecture. Alongside he became a specialist in writing architects monographs. In 2004 he wrote a book on contemporary traditional architecture in the Netherlands.
