Huh, what can I say? Ok. Let's start with the fact that this is a children's book. Yes, I admit it, I read kids books. And not just because I win them... Although in my own defense I do have quite a few small children in my life, and I read to them a lot. I also will flip through whatever book they happen to be reading on their own so I can get ideas of what they are interested in, and what they are reading in general.

There are even some kids books that I enjoy reading. (Dr. Seuss for example) M

Too Clever

Written by Julia E. Antoine

Illustrated by Frankniel Concepcion

"Too Clever," first in this series of the "Too Clever" stories, introduces different types of stories to be read aloud to children or read by children who are learning reading and math skills. Each enjoyable story in this well-crafted and nicely illustrated book allows the child readers to attempt to resolve the problems by themselves. In some of the stories the child figures out the solution, in others, they must wait until

This book has great potential. The stories were charming but needed more follow through. The idea of using characters that were autonomous was great but most of the adventures they went through weren't developed enough to really sustain my interest. I did enjoy Megan's Troublesome Pronouns because that was a practical lesson. Other than that, the stories in general didn't captivate me.

The presentation of the book as well needed some work. The illustrations didn't appeal to me and the binding of

This is a very cute and entertaining book for kids. I liked the first story about Johnny it reminded me of a poem. All the stories are original and fun, and each one contains a message. I read it with my son and I did not expect him to like the book, but low and behold he liked them all, although he especially liked, Jason's Eagle, Timothy and the Man in the Moon and Darell and Bobo. I believe he liked the last one because he has a Scottish Terrier, Bandino, and they are inseparable. Over all, I ...more

My ten year old daughter loved this book. I bought it as one of her birthday gifts, and we found ourselves making tomato sandwiches like one of the characters in the story. She liked the idea of having her own tomato garden. I now have the job of selecting a spot for her to start a tomato garden in the spring. Hopefully, by then, she would have forgotten about it. This book is funny and an easy read. I highly recommend it.
