Sixth in Stone Arch’s Flash arc of the DC Super Heroes series, “Shell Shocker” seems promising at the outset. From the first sentence, readers find themselves in the middle of the action-packed, fast-paced novel featuring “The Flash,” a superhero who may be new to this generation. Unfortunately, the plot is dis-jointed – which may make it difficult for high/low readers to follow -- with The Flash leaving a ticking time bomb to address one crisis after another before returning to disarm the incen ...more
This is a fun story with some noticeable logic holes. The best part was the use of a "forgotten" villain, one who dates back to the days of the Golden Age Flash. The worst part were the cases in which the author simply didn't have a good handle on the powers and abilities of The Flash, or the ways he would use them. Of course, the writer also thinks that cell phones [just like bombs???] are filled with lots of little wires that plug into different sockets, and uses that as a plot point...
Barry Allen is trying to diffuse a bomb, but he keeps getting pulled by calls for his alternate identity, the Flash. Can the Barry and the Flash save the day, and find out who is behind all these sinister attacks?

This chapter book is clearly aimed that the Hi-Interest/Low-Vocab market. While I did like that the action words like "whoosh" are written using comic book font, the plot is a little disjointed for "a day in the life" kind of story. Plus the reason why the ultimate villain set up all th
