Anasazi was a quick and exciting read. It included plenty of humor, sassy remarks, and seemingly unrequited love.

The main character, Megan, was very interesting. She was an obvious bad chick with experience in martial arts and an interesting ability to get herself out of sticky situations. She was the humor within the book. The main character, Megan, was very interesting. She was an obvious bad chick with experience in martial arts and an interesting ability to get herself out of sticky situations. She was the humor within the book. Not only did she have a sarcastic remark for every unfortunate situation, but she had an uncanny ability to really get under the skin of those that didn't like her, and even those who did. Megan represented bravery in this strange town where she wasn't welcome, but also let us see inside her so that we could understand that she was scarred. She was very flirtatious and I absolutely loved it!

The supporting characters/drool worthy boys, Lucas and David, were very different from each other. Lucas, the shy and awkward yet sexy boy obsessing over Megan, was sweet and I found myself rooting for Megan to kiss him during the entire book. He was so sweet and seemed to be the typical "nice guy." David, Megan's night in shining armor and the one she obsessed over during the entire book, was very careful. He was the kind of character that was afraid to take things to the next step because of what may happen.

I enjoyed this book. It took me on an adventure to a land I had never imagined. However, there were a few things that I did not like. First, although Megan made the book more entertaining, the jokes and sarcastic remarks she made did not sit well with me all the time. I couldn't make the character a real person, although I liked her as a character. (Confused?) This book reminded me of those movies that come out where although the actor's can't act, its still a good movie. Next, the book seems rushed. There is a lot of information enclosed in only 190 pages. I couldn't see how she could meet all the right people, and do things at exactly the right time, and have all the right tools with her at all times (or somehow just lying around next to her). It made the story hard to believe. Last, the ending felt rushed. There were a lot of questions left unanswered. Without giving anything away: "Who was the Anasazi, like exactly?" "Why could Megan see that little man?" The biggest question is "Why oh why is does she not know the best friend's man rule when it comes to one person and knows it for the other???"

Despite those issues, the book was great. I enjoyed reading it. It kept me wanting to read, and I tended to keep wanting to read when I was away from the book, even resorting to reading-while-walking (the equivalent to texting-while-driving...i looked up when i crossed the street) Megan was sassy and kept me entertained. I enjoyed it. I will definitely read the other books in the series.(less)

After reading The Thirteenth Chime, I was curious to see where Emma Michaels would take the idea of Sense. So imagine my surprise when David’s quest of Sense takes a back seat to a search for a missing David in the desert. David’s ex, Destiny does not make an appearance with the female lead taken by an old friend of theirs, Megan who has long had a crush on the noble David. Megan is more action orientated and the perfect lead on an adventure filled search for a missing friend.

The "me" above is Megan, a young woman who has motorcycled to the desert to meet her friend, David, with hopes of hooking up. Megan is sort of a wild child who has past substance abuse issues in her past. She is really interested in David, who helped her during that time. He is a constant presence in the novel but doesn't show up in person for quite a while.

Emma does a great job painting the desert for us. Considering she hasn't been to the area where the novel occurs that's amazing work because you can feel the environment around you. The people in the town, reminded me of characters from the TV show, Supernatural, which most readers of the blog love. There's the creepy hotel guy, the nice desk guy and his grandfather, the almost possessed professor, and, of course the missing, but ever present, David. Even though she has a wild side, or perhaps because of it, Megan is a character you would love to have as a friend. She is fearless, loyal and tenacious and it sounds as if she is gorgeous as well!

While the plot is clear and the pacing is good, I found the staging to be a bit confusing with ladders going up into the cliff village in different places and fighting at the top. But I'm often confused by action scenes, so that's something you will need to judge for yourself. There are many action scenes and moments when you believe a main character isn't going to make it. There are some major edge-of-your-seat scenes that are quite suspenseful and, some surprises I didn't see coming.

Like I said, Megan is a wild child and Davis is, it would seem, a bit of a prude. While she is clean and sober, it seems as if she has made him her drug of choice and he doesn't seem to reciprocate her interest; or, maybe he is just old-fashioned about relationships. Meanwhile, there's a young local guy into her but he's not the one so she doesn't run off with him.
With Anasazi Emma has written an adventure, with danger, visions, suspense and ancient mysteries. It's a winning combination.

First off, I love the covers for both of the Sense of Truth books. This one is so striking with the coloring and her eyes. Lovely. Absolutely lovely.

Megan gets texts from David inviting her to come out to the desert to visit him for a week. Megan arrives and cannot find David anywhere. Anasazi is the 2nd novel in the Sense of Truth series. It wasn’t as creepy as The Thirteenth Chime but it was still a good and easy read. Anasazi follows Megan a friend of David’s and Destiny. But, David is nowhere to be found in the small desert town mostly inhabited by Hopi Native Americans. He had something to do with the town's big archeological dig, but she spends the novel trying to find him because someone has decided to eliminate him for his research on the dig.

Characters: Megan is an interesting girl with a troubled past who can kick-butt when needed. She's sassy and sarcastic and very stubborn about finding the missing David, even in an area she doesn't feel completely welcome in. David is a character I already like from the first book, but he's missing for most of Book 2. Still, he's the same old charming character I liked from The Thirteenth Chime. Lucas is a teenage Hopi character who ends up being the only character Megan can really trust to help her out, and I thought he was cute.

Technical Writing: I really didn't like how the first book was written, but this one shows good improvement on the technical side.

Storytelling: I think the storytelling shows continuous improvement in this installment, which I liked in the first one. I know nothing about the Hopi Nation, but this author clearly did her research. How she weaved this mystery together is a mystery to me, me being someone who just doesn't get how mystery authors do it. I'm very impressed. How she tied everything together from what was discovered at the dig site, the Rock City (which may or may not be fictional), and how the ancient Hopi could use a calendar to figure out when to plant crops so they'd grow perfectly... It was all so very expertly done.

Overall Quality: The quality of Anasazi is overall higher than The Thirteenth Chime, although I feel I might prefer the first book because I like David, and he appears in the first book a lot more. I think the mystery plot of the first book appealed to me more, as well.

Favorite Moment/Scene: When Megan finally finds David after searching for him for so long. He's in terrible shape, but he manages to help her help him because he's an EMT. Also, I was impressed with how Megan found him. She used a hawk, something straight out of Native American folklore/mythology, to locate him and I thought it was really cool, for lack of a better word.

This was amazing I loved the whole history of things, Emma has done it again with another amazingly beautiful story. I was up most nights thinking about what was happening and trying to desperately put together everything. I am still in love with David, he is the one to bring home you just want to grab him and hold on to him. I never knew of this legend so being introduced to it was amazing.
