Alright, as I stated in my short review of Tremble (Celestra book 2) I read both Tremble and Burn back-to-back because I could NOT get enough. This is the type of series that leaves you thinking about it long after you are finished reading it. There were times where I was so mad at Skyla for the whole not-being-able-to-make-a-choice between Logan and Gage, but that little fact didn't deter me from loving the story. The last three or four paragraphs in Burn have left me anxious to read book 4 in...more

I don't know how to write this review without being spoilery. So from here on out, vague is the name of the game. And enthusiastic.

Wow. I don't even know where to begin with BURN. My friends told me this series was a wild ride. And I got that, but I didn't get it. Just when I had things sorted out, author Addison Moore virtually picked the entire story up and shook it, letting the pieces fall back into place like glitter in a water globe.

Right just completed 'Burn' which is the third book in its series after 'Ethereal' and 'Tremble' and I got to say this story is getting more and more intense and little more confusing with each chapter! :O

I still enjoy Skylar as a character but she is beginning to annoy me with the amount of times she is close to death but gets fixed up like that *snaps fingers* you'd think the girl would have a little recovery time...like fair enough she has the cuts and bruises and the anaemia now but her moth...more

Burn is the third installment in Moore's Celestra series and was as exceptional as the previous two installments.

I have to say that I have been hooked on this series from the very beginning, and have been rooting for Gage the entire time. Even through all of the drama that is Skyla's life, Gage has been there unconditionally.

I'm almost over with this series out of sheer nosiness.... It's not that great, but I want to know how it ends regardless. The first few books in the series were very promising and I hope that by the time I finish the series I feel different about it.

Gage and Logan have really been the characters that keep me around. They are your typical opposites caught in a love triangle with Skyla. Frankly, I think they're both too good for Skyla, who insists on making one stupid decision after another and...more

Holy jeez. Addison Moore...I just have a question for you. Do you like taking my mind on a freaking roller coaster ride. You have kept me on the edge of my seat all three books now. Not one second did I ever fully go, okay I know what is going to happen next. Because I don't know whats going to happen next, and if anyone says they do, they are lying.

From the twists and turns to the intense romance and swooning going on I do not know what to tell you all as far as my favorite part of this series. You never know what is going to happen next, you never know who Skyla will be swooning over next, and you never know who to trust in this tale. Everything works perfectly to make you want to rip the pages to see what is coming next.

Nothing is as it seems in this town, including the relationships. Not only between Skyla and her 3 admirers, but with Skyla and everyone around her. But let me tell you, there is no shortage of male loving in this book. I must say I am envious of Skyla, and I clearly have my own front runner in this race, but trying to figure out what Skyla will do with it all, makes my head spin. Addison Moore has just gave every reader something to hang on to, no matter what team you are going for in this book.

The mystery from one page to the next was incredible. It had me from book one really. Addison Moore just knows how to piece every event together, even when you are left with your mind jumbled, once it plays out you totally get it. And once you solve one mystery, another one tends to pop up and replace it. There is never a dull moment in this series.

I am waiting for book number four to come out. Because I read all three of the first books in three days. I feel like Addison Moore defines a cliff hanger. Because she left me teetering on the edge of a huge mountain. Please don't let me fall Allison!

Pick up this book. You get a sexy romantic thriller that throws you for loops you never even saw coming. Buckle up before reading this book folks.

I was traipsing around, leisurely enjoying my reading of this third novel in the Celestra series, and my thoughts were, "This is getting much better with each book. I'm not ready to give it a four star rating yet, but it's getting there." That was up to the last two chapters of this book when my previous feelings about this series were completely obliterated. Before I get to that point, let me say a little about my feelings while reading the majority of this book. As I said, Moore's writing gets...more I was traipsing around, leisurely enjoying my reading of this third novel in the Celestra series, and my thoughts were, "This is getting much better with each book. I'm not ready to give it a four star rating yet, but it's getting there." That was up to the last two chapters of this book when my previous feelings about this series were completely obliterated. Before I get to that point, let me say a little about my feelings while reading the majority of this book. As I said, Moore's writing gets better and better with each book in this series. Things that I had a hard time with in the beginning novels of the series are slowly going away, leaving a much better written novel. The descriptions are getting more in depth, and I don't finish every chapter feeling as if something is missing. Instead, I have been slowly drawn into this world created by Moore, and I am just as interested in figuring things out as the characters in the book. There are still several errors of grammar and spelling that are noticeable -- not enough to ruin the book at all, but enough to make me want to volunteer my services to be a third eye on the rough drafts to catch these things. This, however, is a common problem in ebooks, and I've gotten to where I can read through those typos without letting it affect how I enjoy the book.

My main problem with the books to this point has been my strong dislike for the main character, Skyla. She has seemed whiny and self-centered, and she treats her boyfriend(s) and family horribly at times. I've stuck with her, though, because I was convinced that something was going to happen to show that she is more than she seems to be. This was the book where that began to happen. Don't get me wrong. Skyla still has some problems as a character, but those problems are becoming understandable as events play out. First of all, now there is a newly understood girl in town who trumps Skyla big time for being a horrible, horrible person -- Chloe. What a terrible girl! As Skyla read through Chloe's diary I began to wonder exactly why I thought Skyla was so bad. She seems like a saint compared to Chloe. Even Tad showed himself to be an overbearing and insensitive parent that made Skyla's actions toward him seem more understandable. There is still the issue of Skyla's treatment of Logan and Gage. She is in love with both and cannot give either of them up, even when Logan attempts to make it easier for her by taking himself out of the equation. Reading about this love triangle made me constantly think that this was not going to end up well for someone. Add Marshall and his completely creepy stalker-like behavior toward Skyla, and she has got a lot to handle in the relationship arena. I won't give anything away, but I was shocked by the big accidental attack that Skyla is involved in earlier in the novel. That seemed to give a whole new tenor to the story. Now it seemed as if we were in grown-up world with grown-up consequences for grown-up mistakes.

Aside from Skyla, I found that my feelings were all over the place regarding other characters in the novel -- especially Logan. I have not been a big Logan fan from the beginning. He seemed to be manipulative and uncaring in so many ways. I thought Skyla would have been better off with Gage. But, in this book I started to see Logan in a different light. He was more sympathetic as a character, and in many ways he seemed more mature than he has in the previous books. I was feeling so sorry for him some of the time because he has this deep love for Skyla, but he has given her to his cousin as a girlfriend to protect her, only to have Skyla fall in love with Gage. It seems like a hopeless situation. But then the end . . . I just don't know what to think about it. Is it true? Is Marshall just messing with Skyla? And, if it's true, then what have I been reading during the past three books. Did anything mean anything? My head is spinning.

That big revelation at the end is going to change how the rest of the series goes down. I can't wait to see what direction Moore goes for the next novel, which cannot come quick enough. I have a big guess as to the identity of the LA head of the Counts. If it is who I think it is, poor Skyla. I will forgive her some of her whiny behavior in the past for having to come to terms with that -- if it is true, of course. It will be interesting to see how Chloe has manipulated the situation in her favor. I think that it will also be interesting to continue to explore the topic of whether we are locked into some predetermined destiny, or can we chart our own course, even when the future seems locked. I am interested to see how Marshall's role is defined as the series continues. I don't exactly trust him. He seems too shifty, and his motivations seem completely selfish. For that reason I'm not sure how to interpret his revelation at the end of this book. Is he being totally honest with Skyla, or can he manipulate things to his favor?

So, overall I will say that I am becoming more and more impressed with this series. It has come on gradually, but I am now sucked into this world, and I am curious to know how things are going to work themselves out. It seems as if we are getting ready to have some sort of epic battle. This is a book that I will probably continue to think about in the days ahead, and I might be persuaded to re-read the series again to see if I can notice clues about who is who. That alone should say just how much my feelings about the series have evolved in my mind. Can't wait for book #4!(less)

Let's just say, not only am I loving Gage something bad, but this book is a mix between a brilliant romance novel (though I do hate Skyla. I mean, ok, you like two guys. But you hate when Logan's with another girl but you justify going about with both Gage and Logan?!! MEAN!! She is such a hypocrite!!) and a thriller - one of those sleepover/teen-America thriller movies like Scary Movie, where there are a bunch of teens doing dangerous, and often psycho, stuff in order to stay alive.

Marshall is going to have a baby mama lol that's what he gets lol. we all know Mitchell's a bitch, but Skyla is always trying to find a way to help her, wtf, shes probably the one that cut her neck, cus of jealousy. Logan and Gage got Skyla a freaken 1966' red mustang, how cool is that, and she doesn't even appreciate it. Drakes the love child, the parents are trying to have a kid, gross.

Chloe is a skanky bitch, I don't really like her, she probably knows that Skyla is Gages mysterious girl, and is just messing with her. But Skyla wants to bring her back to life, so she could fall in love with Marshall, idk why Skyla thinks Choe will go along with that, so frustrating, Chloe will end up stealing both Gage and Logan away, but Skyla doesn't see that.

Logan broke up with Skyla, who didn't see that coming. :( oh Carly is also a freaken skank that's been with Chloes brother, had his son, has been with Gage and is now messing with Logan. Wtf all these girls are skanks, shesh.

I don't really like Logan, there something about him, I don't like that he didn't even try to fight for Skyla, he just handed her over to Gage, who seems like a nice guy but still. I think that Logan doesn't really love Skyla, I think he is confusing her with Chloe, or he is just messing with her and is actually with Lexy or Carly or both.

It was hilarious when Skyla started punching Michelle and Lexy in the face during a game. Lol lol that is funny :) I wonder what people thought lol but it was Holden's ghost doing it, eh who cares it was funny :)

I knew you couldn't trust that bitch of a Chloe, Skyla was just a part of her little game, she gave the Counts all the info about the Factors, that ended up getting Skyla's dad killed. She was also the one who cut Skyla's neck, wow I was wrong, I thought it was crazy Michelle, oh well. And some how I knew Skyla had something to do with Chloes death and I'm glad :)

And of course we can't have a happy ending, it turns out that Marshalls baby mama is Brielle not Michelle. And That Skyla's whole family are freaken Counts Whaaaat Theee Heeeellll, I had my suspicion with Tad and Drake but the whole family, that's mest up, what is she suppose to do now, and Logan oh Logan I had my suspicion with him too but I wanted to be wrong, how sad :( You know it's Marshall showing her that Counts are blue colored, so it makes you think if he is just messing with her just to get what he wants, but he has been telling the truth so far so idk. and guess who's alive again,,, yep Chloe, thanks to Dr. Oliver, I think there is more to all this, I guess we'll see.(less)

BURN is a much darker novel than the previous 2 books, so much so that I was hoping it was all a dream-that the ‘heroine’ Skyla, would wake up and everything would be back to normal. But this particular storyline revolves around revenge and hatred. Skyla is seeking those who murdered her father 2 years prior, and like the previous 2 instalments, she is still refusing to listen to reason and continues her Light travel through time. Her headstrong and take no prisoners attitude, escalates into a killing spree around the world, where she is aided by Gage, with his need to protect her at all costs.

There are several murders and attempted murders throughout the storyline. Skyla is sexually attacked and in self-defense, murders the young man thinking he was one of the Countenance. But when it is revealed that he truly was an enemy of the Celestra, it is only the beginning of Skyla’s murderous rampage on those hoping to claim her blood. A near fatal throat slashing, a car accident where a ghostly apparition gains control of the vehicle, and several attacks by the demon Fems, would be enough to send any normal teenager into a headlong case of psychosis. But Skyla Messenger takes it all in stride, knowing that one day-she will make a difference (right or wrong) in everybody’s life. And to further add irony to her already crazed life, Skyla is occasionally possessed by one of her victims.

Skyla’s desire to ‘reanimate’ Chloe, pushes her further into the world of the past, but there is a price to pay, when one meddles with the creation or re-creation of life. Thinking Chloe has the answers to all of her questions, she inadvertently crosses a threshold of no return. Her weekly donation of ‘angel’ blood is so powerful, that the past will meet in the present much quicker than anyone had realized. But Chloe has other plans, and it is within the pages of Chloe’s diary, that Skyla’s looks at the future, that had already been written in the past.

Gage and Logan continue their ‘wooing’ of Skyla, knowing she loves both young men equally. But Logan’s altruism pushes Skyla deeper into the arms of Gage, even though she is well aware that her feelings for Logan will never change. Hoping to keep their relationship platonic, Logan and Skyla agree to disagree about the arrangements. But Gage’s declaration of love sends Logan spiraling slowly out of their lives.

Marshall Dudley, or Studley-Dudley, the resident math teacher, continues his seduction of the female population. But it is Skyla in whom his sights have been set. We are not sure at this point, whether Marshall the Sector is good or evil. He genuinely aids Skyla with her discovery of the many Counts living on Paragon Island, but every time he reveals the true nature of the population, Skyla must pay. Although his desires for Skyla seem genuine, what is not apparent are his reasons. And to complicate the scenario, Marshall has a propensity for having intercourse with many of the young female students and his fertility factor runs high.

Skyla’s mother Lizbeth and step-father Tad are continuously at odds about how to handle their teenage delinquent. As far as Tad is concerned, Skyla is a walking disaster, but her mother is hoping that this is only an awkward stage in her daughter’s young life. But there is something about Tad’s aggression towards his step-daughter, that at times you wonder, if he is truly human. And like many parents of rebellious teens, they appear to have lost control.

Skyla’s group of cheerleading frenemies continue to provoke and attack at every chance. She has become the target of not just the Fems and the Countenance, but also the ‘mean-girl’ pep squad and their family of gossip girls and neighbors.

Overall, BURN is an adventure worthy of a crime-story episode. There are enough murders, missing people, accidents and blood spillage that the local authorities should be a bit more concerned about the strange happenings occurring on the island of Paragon. But on the evening of Skyla’s 17th birthday party more surprises are revealed and Marshall Dudley may have shown Skyla more information than she had ever wanted to know. What would it be like to know-your entire family may just be your worst enemy?

oH GREAT,another cliff hanger. Are you trying to kill me? Ok back to the beginning, you can tell by the 13 status updates, I really got into this book. But there's still some disconnect with me and actually feeling for Skyla. Most of the time I'm more engrossed on what is happening to the girls and boys around her than actually her. I think it's because I just don't get why and how she can be in love with Gage and still pine over Logan like she lost an arm. (oh wait that was the last book).

Ok, so this book continues the events of the last two books, Skyla with all her family drama, and her boy...excuse me BOYS. 3 boys actually. and with the war thing and everything, this book has some major drama.

I actually like can't even like...tolerate what happened at the end and it's like killing me now and I can't even write a good review....

Anyway, so I think the books are like getting better and better, because this was really really good. And let me just same, I am playing for team Gage. I have been since the start, but the ending to the book just kinda put an end to any doubts I had. Gage is the one for her, not Logan. I never did like Logan.

Then chloe, a character that I hate. A lot of big things happen with her in this book, there are a lot of things that Skyla learns about her. Like, if your like me, and you get that feeling that she's always been hiding more than a few things, but get that feeling that Skyla just might be able to trust her, all those feeling are kind of contradicted.

Then theres Marshall. I really kind of hate him, and I can't decide if he's really trying to helf Skyla or not. Like...is he really evil? I can't help but feel like something VERY bad is going to happen, and he's going to be involved. Either that, or he's going to do something very drastic to help Skyla. He may be the most unpredictable person in this book.

Also, I hate her mom. Her mom makes me want to pull my hair out. And Tad? Anyone in their right mind can tell he's some kind of evil person. I've been wondering if he's a count since the first book. Also Brielle, I never did like. I don't even think it seems like Skyla likes Brielle all that much, even since they first met.

So, I've also just kind of been wondering this one thing. And that is, it seems like every other day they're at some kind of party up into the wee hours of the morning or whatever. It also, always seems like their parents know about these parties. I'm just wondering why nobodies parents care that every kid on the island is at some party doing things they don't want to know about. Just makes me wonder...

So altogether, the book was really good. I like these books, there's always some kind of surprise twist like every other page where you're just like "Uh-uh! No way! wasn't expecting that one."

OH! and also, just want to comment on the cover. The covers on both of the first two books each correspond very nicely to what goes on in each book and what they're about. I suppose this is really no exception.

So, yes, if you could not alreay tell, I very much enjoyed this book. I didn't find many problems with it at all, and I'm much looking forward to the next one after that major clif-hanger that we were left with in this book.(less)

I don't even know where to begin with this book!

First, if you have not read the the first two, then STOP! Buy them all, then read them in order. You CAN read them in any order you wish, but why would anyone want to read them out of order?! Anyway, back to this one.

Ok, to start with I LOVE this series so far, but it actually took me a while to get back into the series when I first started reading it. Once I did get back into it I couldn't but this down. I really like the world that Addison Moore has created with Skyla and crew. You get into this and you're kind of questioning everyone. I think the fact that it's nearly 24 hours after I've finished this book and I'm still thinking about/angry over the ending means I became well invested in the story!

Burn is a fantastic 3rd book in this series. Often a series runs the risk of becoming dry or repetitive as it goes along - Burn does neither. Skyla...your life is giving me whiplash!!

There was so much happening in this book...on every page...in every chapter! It was a whirlwind. Part of me would have liked a bit more detail in certain parts of the book where it was almost too much to get my head around. Skyla's ability to experience horrific events and seemingly not let them affect her every waking moment is fascinating to me. The third book (as well as the gorgeous cover) in the Celestra series did not disappoint. The action never stopped and there was a surprise around every corner. Almost right away Skyla is in the middle of another event in which she gets injured.

One small criticism of the book is that it could not really be stand alone. Even after reading the first 2 books in the series, Ethereal and Tremble, not that long ago, a few lines added in would have helped refresh my memory a lot faster with some of the...more

Well I have to say This was the best so far. While the bulk of the book was a little turned around and confusing it ended with a bang and a major cliffhanger. I like the twists. Still not a fan of the nonexistence of skyla's moral compass except for where sex is concerned. I mean what teenager will exact revenge for the death of her father by murdering many people and have no real emotion (at least non that we are privy to) but have tons of conflicting emotion as in regards to sex. OH MY GOSH!!!! so much happened in this book loved it how there were so many twists and turns have too say I am soooo glad that I waited till this series had some books out before I started it I would be pulling my hair out in frustration waiting for the next one otherwise lol !!! Burn is the 3rd book of the young adult Celestra series. Burn is darker than the first two. Skyla is quite in love with both Logan and Gage and then their is the sexy sector Marshall.

Skyla can't catch a break at all. It's getting annoying. I don't understand why some reviews are so hard on her. She is the way she is because everyone and I mean everyone round her is a psycho. Her mother is an idiot and Tad is pure, demented lunatic. Every girl in the book is a ho, Marshall is a disgusting pervert and the Oliver boys are weak and pathetic. I really don't like anyone. Well, Addison Moore has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat begging to know what will happen next. This book did tie up some loose ends from the second book and made the story more complete. Also there is a roller coaster ride of events that guarantees the story is never boring. I read book two and book three of this series back to back, and the plots of both were so similar and boring that I am having trouble distinguishing between the two. I bought all four books and I read all four mostly because I'm a masochist, but partly because there are some (VERY FEW) redeeming qualities.

The formatting is terrible, with entire paragraphs randomly indented. The editing is awful with rampant spelling errors.

Skyla likes to make out. A lot. With almost anyone. While she mostly chooses Gage as her boyfriend in this book, it doesn't stop her from making out with HER TEACHER Marshall a lot and with Logan quite a bit too. This author has no concept of building up a romance. There is no buildup and anticipation before a steamy kiss, Skyla just slobbers all over every guy on nearly every page.

The author fails to stick to her own canon. Skyla has super regenerative abilities to the point where in book 2 her ARM gets cut off and the doctor can put a decomposed dead arm on her and she'll regenerate it to living again in a matter of hours with no scar, but in this book she gets her throat slit (with an unintentionally funny tracheotomy scene) and it takes her weeks to heal up. The author tries to say that this is because she lost so much blood, but getting your ARM CUT OFF is quite a bit of blood loss too. She also later gets her face sliced up and that takes forever to heal too. Apparently super regeneration powers only work on missing limbs.

There are so many plot holes and ridiculous pieces of this story, I don't know that I could fit them all in this review. Skyla MURDERS a fellow student by gouging out his neck with her fingers, but of course doesn't get caught or really even care... except for the fact that his ghost haunts her and makes her do things like throw food at people randomly.

Marshall is a ridiculous character. I realize he's some super angel pretending to be a teacher, but as far as most students and all the parents know, he is a teacher. With that in mind, it bothers me beyond belief that NO ONE seems to have a problem with him having a sexual relationship with students, acting completely unprofessional in class, and inviting students to his house (where lots more making out and sex happens).

Skyla's parents are quite possibly the worst parents in existence. They're not comically bad parents, like the Dursleys in Harry Potter. They're meant to be realistic, but they're so ridiculous that I can't even keep a straight face while reading. Her step-father is just a moron, her mother waffles between caring and not caring. Skyla's mother forces her into an inappropriate relationship with Marshall that just gives me the creeps. Worst. Mother. Ever.

There's also this tiny little subplot of a war between angels (Counts and Celestra). The author forgets about it, then randomly brings it up in scenes that should be more important but are glosses over and then forgotten about. Skyla and Gage teleport around and kill all but FIVE of the Count regional leaders making no attempt to hide their identity from secretaries or witnesses. This scene lasts all of a few paragraphs, has zero repercussions, and is only mentioned in passing once or twice afterwards. You would think this would be a pretty big deal... the assassination of almost all of the leaders of an organization in one night and it's merely an afterthought in the book.

I am bored with the Skyla/Gage/Logan love triangle. It's silly at this point. For three books she's made out with Logan on one page, made out with Gage on the next, and swapped over and over and over and OVER AND OVER again. I ended up skimming much of this because it was too uninteresting to read.

The biggest part of this book was the Chloe diary/reveal. Over the course of the book Chloe gets more and more psychopathic, but Skyla keeps visiting her anyways. This subplot is the only part of the book I thought was reasonably well done and interesting. I'm not going to spoil it, but the last few pages are the only real good part of the book.

Again, I think that this story has so much potential but the author is rushing these books out so fast that she's butchering the possibilites. She needs to learn how to build up suspense, even in the romance aspect. It really means nothing and isn't romantic at all when the main character is kissing someone every other page. There were so many unnecessary scenes and so many scenes that really needed fleshing out. I really believe that if she took her time on these instead of trying to write/publish a new one every two months that she would generate a much more quality product. Instead, these books are poorly written, riddled with editing/spelling/formatting errors, and full of plot holes and laughably bad scenes. (less)

When I was a few chapter into this book I decided I was going to stop reading the series all together. There were a bunch of holes and it was starting to get annoying. When I got to the last few chapters though, I really started to like how it seemed that everything was getting wrapped up. I think the first three books should probably be sold as a volume. Addison, thank you so much for your brilliant and captivating Celestra series! As with many YA series I expected to loose interest with book 3, but the exact opposite happened: I'm completely hooked! I just wish I could do my PhD on your books. If you keep writing like this I will never be able to finish my thesis ;-). What a bittersweet ending! But that keeps it interesting,isn't it?

This is the 3rd book in the celestra series and honestly this whole series is awesome. I flip through the pages. It's a weird feeling because part of me wants to read it slowly so it can last longer, but the other part of me wants to read quickly so I can know what happens.
