I picture "The Night Riders" picking up where "Goodnight Moon" ends, visually describing what happens when everyone is asleep. (The crescent moon peaking through the window of the house of the frog and mouse, whose story this is, at the start suggested "GM" to me.) Frog and mouse's adventures take place under cover of the night, under ground, and under sea--all the places where mysterious, usually unseen creatures live, most of them friendly toward or benignly uninterested in frog and mouse. Since this is a McSweeney's McMullens imprint, you get the trademark book cover that unfolds to a double-sided poster. The book dispenses with the opening title and printing information to dive directly into the journey. Kids want to dive into the story not flip through copyright information, so the placement at the end of the story puts those words where they belong.
